Priya is taking down notes all along in this meeting. She realized this guy can be tough even with senior guys. She is impressed. A few days later this lady, Nitu is her name, called him over phone and thanked him saying she is now happy with the service. He instructed Priya to convey this to BM........

Issues started cropping up fast and thick. One issue is that of a woman who got in to trouble but pleaded that she has been trapped. He normally does not believe in this cry stories but somehow felt she is telling the truth. So he picked a senior guy who is known as tough and very efficient and asked him to go in to root of the matter conveying the woman’s version and asked him to check for facts. He told him he wants real facts. When the guy showed some hesitation he asked him whether he has anything to say, he can say. He slowly asked Sir, do you want to save her? He smiled and said no, I will not save her if she is guilty. I do not want you to find scapegoats but find the truth. THE GUY IS PLEASED WITH THE FREEDOM GIVEN.

Then in reorganization the corporate office put in an extra layer and now there is a boss over him. He did not like as earlier he reported to corporate office and in the process is very close to some top executives including the No 2. Now the corporate boss will be in charge for some zones. The boss is a lady aged in her 50s. She is reportedly tough and possibly frustrated. She also knows his closeness with senior executives and started nagging Rajesh in her visits.

As if this is not enough a loan sanctioned to a young lady who opened a exclusive lingerie shop in a upscale locality is showing signs of going bad and the lady pleaded that her sales have not picked up as estimated/expected. Of course the usual issues with the unions/associations are also there.

Rajesh having asked a guy to investigate the staff issue thought he needs to take remedial action in respect of the shop. He first inspected the shop with BM and had a discussion and felt the marketing is bad. He called for a meeting at his office and called a customer who is expert in marketing. He asked her to explain her steps and the marketing man listened and then told he needs to visit the shop.

He also said normally he charges but since Rajesh called him he will visit and then inform charges. Before the lady can respond Rajesh said yes go and visit the shop and then tell us the strategy. Don’t worry your charges will be taken care off. He responded Rajesh, you misunderstood me and my charges will be drinks and dinner with you. They all laughed and Rajesh said let us see. He said Rajesh it will be good if you come with me. Priya as usual is taking notes and is surprised at this relationship as she has not seen anyone calling Rajesh by name.

Soon the FGM arrived on another of her visit and in the meeting with all BMs, she passed some unsavory remarks against Rajesh.  She went back after a 2 day visit which only strained their relations further. Rajesh decided time to take the bull by the horn so he telephoned the top bosses and informed them that he is finding it difficult to work with her. He requested tobe transferred. The bosses asked him to think over for a few days with a cool mind as they found themselves in tricky situation.

Back to routine he visited the shop with marketing guy who immediately suggested some changes in lay out. Rajesh quick as always said, you complete the visit and then we all will meet in my cabin and discuss. The lady, time to give her name, is Smita, readily agreed any charges will be paid her. Rajesh laughed and said you are not able to pay interest and you are talking of payment. Leave it, we two will settle it and he said well said Rajesh, this is between us.

 

Back in office, the guy gave his observations  he said not only marketing the lay out  needs changes and then she needs to have some branded and real upscale stuff to sell. All this requires lots of effort and yes money too. Yes she may need at least 5 lacs to invest. Smita immediately responded I have no such resources. Before rajesh can respond he said Rajesh, I am convinced there is scope but  it needs efforts, change of strategy etc. 

I am prepared to invest in this just to test my gut feeling like venture capital if the bank cannot help her. Rajesh smiled and said may be If we make out a convincing case they may agree. Then I will give the report in a couple of days but we need to know if she is willing and she has to listen to us and effect changes. 

Smita responded I  will accept. Rajesh said he will be the boss effectively is that clear, of course for a temporary period. She said OK. Priya really admired the way the issue is handled and also how Rajesh wanted to help the lady, what  she did not know is he does not want the loan to go bad,.
