Chapter 27
Meera's anger didn't last beyond the next morning. She felt she had overreacted.
"I'm sorry, baby," Meera said and hugged me. We were still in bed. "I overreacted to the situation. I hate it when you hide from me. I also hate it when I learn the truth from someone else. I would have slapped Desai with my sandal for hiding that voice recorder in our bedroom if you had told me when you learnt about it. Instead, it was him who turned honest and confessed at first, and that's why I even chose to forgive him."
I kept listening as she went on. "I know I have admitted that I also have been excited to have fantasies. My actions recently made it no secret anymore. So I don't think I have the right to criticise you for that. But I still hate to see you lie to me."
I remained silent as she went on and on, and in the end, I chose to play it down with a joke.
"So it means you're okay if I pulled out my thing and jerked, isn't it?"
Meera smirked.
"You should stop your habit of digging when the soil is soft."
I laughed it off.
A couple of days later, Meera had news for me when she returned after the evening walk.
"Sheetal's pregnant!"
Her eyes were fixed on my face, scanning for my immediate reaction.
I was genuinely stunned.
Even though I knew it was going to happen, I still used to hope it wouldn't happen. Deep inside I didn't want Harish to impregnate Sheetal, even though she had her husband's consent.
"Sheetal told me the news." Meera went on, "it's a secret for now. She said Pawan doesn't want to break the news to anyone but she's too excited to keep it from me as I am her close friend here."
"So, are they going back to their hometown?"
I asked.
Meera was surprised. "How did you know that?"
For a moment I wondered if erred. Pawan had promised me that he would leave the city if I got his wife pregnant. He had told me he would not stay here and become a piece of emotional baggage for me.
Now she was impregnated by someone who had supposedly no idea about it. So I wasn't sure if Pawan was going to leave the city after that.
"I made it out. She slept with him only to get conceived. I don't think she would prefer living in front of Harish." I said thoughtfully.
Meera looked at me.
"Why would she do that? Harish has no idea about it, right?"
"Yeah, but she will be happy if they don't see him every day. And also, after delivery, Harish may try to start seeing her again. I don't think it would be good."
Meera shook her head.
"You are right. I didn't think that way. Sheetal told me another reason though. She told me Pawan is very happy about it and they are planning to move to their hometown for delivery. And they're gonna raise the child there only."
Meera reminded me not to congratulate Sheetal or Pawan. Because she had told Meera about it on condition of secrecy.
"I'm astonished to see Sheetal's excitement. It's not her husband's blood but she doesn't show even a tiny bit of guilt for betraying him. How long will she have to keep this secret? I wish Pawan is also aware of this as you've mentioned the other day. That's the only way her happiness can be permanent."
Meera said.
Earlier, when I opined that Pawan could be a partner in Sheetal's plan to become a mother, Meera had ridiculed me.
"When are they leaving?" I asked.
"In a month or so. I told Sheetal about our plan to shift after our anniversary. She's very happy that they would be able to attend the anniversary."
The sale of our old house was completed very soon and I received the cash right away.
I phoned Maithrei and inquired about the construction status of her flats. She said it was almost ready.
"I want you to see the property first. Are you free in the evening?" She asked.
I was ready to go. "Should I bring Meera too?
"The area is full of dust, Krish. Meera wouldn't enjoy it." Maithrei said.
That evening I drove to the building and found Maithrei waiting there for me. She looked beautiful in a top and pants.
She welcomed me to the building. I noticed that there was hardly any dust. I mentioned it.
"They've cleaned it. You should bring Meera on the next visit." Maithrei said.
There were some works still under progress in some areas.
Maithrei took me to the fifth floor of the building.
"There are eight apartments on this floor. Two are already booked. You can choose one from the rest."
"What is the next process after I make my choice?" I asked when we entered one flat. It was very spacious. I liked it the moment I walked in.
"Then we do some negotiations," Maithrei said.
"How are we going to negotiate? We have a deal right?"
"I haven't forgotten the deal and my offers. You can negotiate however you want to be."
Maithrei looked around and then turned to me. She looked into my eyes and moved closer.
"You can do it from now. I'm ready."
She grabbed my hand and I felt her breath on my face. I could see a glimpse of her cleavage without even looking. I saw her lips parting.
She was ready. Before I knew it, our lips met. I felt the softness of her lips on mine. I don't remember who initiated the kiss.
But I moved back smartly, "I need to inspect the house first before starting the negotiations."
Maithrei smiled, "sure." She took a deep breath and bit her lips.
She didn't leave my hand as we walked through the house like a couple. As the time passed I felt it hard to pay attention to the flat. The fragrance of her body spray was intoxicating. I felt aroused and I knew it would be just a matter of time before I kissed her again.
As I entered the kitchen I saw the well-cleaned countertop. I imagined bending Maithrei over it and banging her from behind. My dick began to ache.
I hurriedly got out of the kitchen. As if luck was with me, one of the men working at the building brought tea for us.
There were two cups of tea on a steel plate in his hand. The man offered it to Maithrei first. She smiled at him as she took both the cups and then handed me one of them. She took a step closer to me when the man went back.
"I don't like tea at random times; I'm already plus. But I wouldn't mind having one with you."
"Same here," I looked straight into her eyes. "It feels like a date, rather than a plot inspection."
Maithrei laughed, with care not to spill the tea from the paper cup.
"So it's our first date."
I watched her lips taking a circular shape as she took a slow sip from the cup. The heat from the tea had suddenly formed small drops of sweat just above her upper lip. I forgot to look away.
"I can see where you're looking, Krish," Maithrei said. I was forced to avert my eyes momentarily only to lock eyes with hers again.
"I was remembering how they tasted a moment ago," I said.
Her eyes shone.
"You're such a flirt. I fear I would end up selling off this apartment for free."
I smiled, "no you won't sell it for free. I promise you that."
My statement indicated pleasing her in bed in exchange for giving the apartment to me for free. But, on an honest note, I did not think I was going to have sex with her. I was thrilled by the attention I was getting, and I was enticed by the small kiss we shared a few minutes earlier. But I had no intention to go beyond it and cheat on my wife.
I was just going with the flow.
Luckily, Maithrei got a phone call and she needed to leave immediately. I took a quick walk through the house before we returned.
I loved the design of the apartment and mentioned it to Maithrei. She told me the actual rate of the apartment. It was way beyond my capacity.
"How much is my discount?" I asked.
"Seventy-five per cent," Maithrei said. My jaws dropped. It was like a lottery.
Maithrei looked at me. "Are you planning to get it for free?"
"No," I replied with a smile. "I will pay you twenty-five per cent."
I had made up my mind about buying the flat. When I went home I told Meera about it.
"So we are getting it for a cheap rate." Meera was happy. "I wish you took me along."
For once I felt Maithrei wouldn't have offered so much discount if Meera was with me. Because the kiss wouldn't have happened. And the promise too.
I imagined having sex with Maithrei and then Meera finding it out. I wondered if she would go on to buy the flat. It was a displeasing thought and I ended up stopping my wild imaginations quickly.
The next day I took Meera there and she liked the flat.
"But it will take some time for all the construction works to be finished."
Meera opined. I discussed it with the supervisor at the site.
"It should be over in a month. You can start planning your move already." He said.
We were happy.
But destiny had other plans for us.
One day Desai phoned me and informed me if I was still looking for a flat.
"If you are interested, you can consider my flat. You know which one I'm talking about. To help you forget its past, this time I'm selling it properly. We can discuss the actual price."
He was talking about the flat he had a one night stand with Meera, two years ago. He had offered it to me for free once while trying to befriend me. But I had rejected it.
"Why are you selling it?" I asked.
"I'm trying to move on completely."
He repeated that the price would be close to the market rate.
"I don't want to hurt your ego again," he said.
"It's okay. But I have seen the flat. I'm looking for something else."
I said at first. "Anyway, I'll get back to you after discussing with Meera."
When I discussed it with Meera, she surprised me by showing interest to buy it.
"It's a good offer."
"You have already seen Maithrei's flat. You should think twice before letting it go." I suggested.
"I'm not letting it go."
"Then?"
"I mean, let's buy both the flats."
"For what?"
"We have the money to buy both the flats. Maithrei has agreed to sell the flat at a cheap rate. I'm sure Desai will also quote an affordable rate only."
I thought about it. She had a better understanding of investment opportunities.
I eventually agreed.
"But you hated the idea of going back to Desai's flat earlier." I reminded.
"That was then. Now I have nothing against Desai or his flat."
She said.
It was the final sign that Desai's memories are no more a disturbance to her.
Krish intimated my decision to Desai.
"That's great, Krish. I'm so happy you guys came up with a great decision. I also appreciate your willingness to discuss with Meera rather than deciding prejudiciously."
Desai said.
He also gave me the code to open the flat door and asked me to visit.
"I'm selling the house with all the furniture and decor. But if you think you don't want something from it, you can let me know. I'll take care of it before you move in." He promised.
The next day I visited the flat with Meera.
The flat was supremely well maintained and in a state ready to move in.
"We will have to sell many of our furniture," Meera opined.
"We can shift them to our other flat," I said.
Meera teased me for saying 'our other flat'. We were already considering us owning two flats.
As I glanced at the living area, I remembered the time when I had visited the place with Desai earlier. The thought of Desai taking my wife to the heights of pleasure had unsettled me then. However, at present, the same thoughts were arousing me.
I saw Meera looking at the dining hall.
"Do you think anything has changed since the last time?" I asked, directly referring to her night with Desai.
"Nothing has changed. Everything is kept the same."
She said.
I went to the dining table and ran my fingers along its edge.
"It began from here, right?" I asked with a mischievous smile.
"No." Meera looked nervous to face me. She pointed to the front door. "It began from there."
"Yes, yes. I remember."
Meera nodded shyly and her eyes kept moving here and there. I felt she was going to sweat.
"Don't you remember, baby?"
I asked and moved closer.
I could feel her breath rising. Her lips parted as if to say something but she didn't speak. I slowly grabbed her palms and moved even closer, enough to let her breath touch my face.
"Don't you?"
"Mmm..."
Her voice was muted by my lips taking over hers. She kissed me back. My arms went crazy around her.
I paused for a moment and looked into her eyes.
"Meera... I want to have you now."
"Take me."
Her response was quick. The next time when I went for her lips I found her darting her tongue into my mouth. Our tongues danced, while our hands hurried to find each other's bodies. I lifted her skirt and pulled her panty down to her ankles. It was so quick. Hardly a minute later I found myself pushing my dick into her pussy and she gasped into my mouth.
"Krish...aaah..."
I had lifted her to the edge of the table. She had split her legs for me, and the moment I thrust myself in, she locked me with her legs.
My hands crawled inside her top to have a feel of her soft belly. And then I squeezed her sides to keep her in place while fucked her. I panted heavily but it was her crazy moans that filled the dining hall.
The sex was quick but one of the best quickies we had in a long time. As the waves of pleasure settled in, Meera smiled at me.
"You were thinking about him, weren't you?"
I smiled back.
"Who else were you thinking?"
We looked at each other and kept laughing. It was a moment we both let each other know how comfortable we were with Desai's presence in our fantasies.
We moved on to other areas of the house. The kitchen was sleek and spacious. All the rooms were maintained well, even though Desai hardly spent time there. The inspection of the house gave me a sense of satisfaction as compared to Maithrei's new flat because the latter had just walls there.
When we walked into the master bedroom, my eyes stuck on the king-size bed.
It was the bed they had slept in. The same bed where Desai had fucked her and filled her pussy with his cum twice.
I couldn't help but sit on it. The spring action made me instantly realise how wonderful it would feel when fucking a beautiful woman like Meera.
Meera was watching me.
"What are you thinking, Krish?"
I looked at her.
"This was that bed, wasn't it?"
Meera bit her lips and broke into a giggle.
"Yes... It was."
I could see the waves of memories in her eyes.
I lay on my back across the bed and spread my arms sideways.
"And you were laid like this." I looked at her.
"Not me. It was him who lay here first. I was on top of him. And he lay this side."
She pointed at another spot on the bed.
I moved and shifted there.
"Like this?"
"Yes."
"Do you remember a lot of that night, don't you?"
"I can't forget it." Meera smiled.
"Don't forget. Come on."
I extended my hand to her.
"What?"
She hesitated.
I put my other hand on my bulged crotch.
"Show me what it is like to be Desai of that night."
Meera gave me a smile and eyes that killed me instantly. The stunning expression on her face combined with the truth that she was thinking of Desai at the moment added the weight of my dick by another unit. I could sense it and I wanted to push it into her pussy right away.
"For that, you will have to turn into him."
Meera whispered.
"I'm ready."
I said quickly. Meera had climbed to the bed even before I finished.
Very soon I found her hands on my hip. She barely sat on my thighs as she unbuttoned and pulled down my pants. My dick sprang up and stood like a flag pole.
"You are ready, Mr Susheel Desai."
Meera whispered as she grabbed it in her left hand.
"I'm ready for you...my baby."
I moaned as her right hand sneaked under my shirt and moved it to my chest.
Meera's face went down to my crotch and the next second I felt the warmth of her mouth around my dick. She pushed it all the way in until its head touched the back of her throat.
And she pulled back, pressing her lips tight around it. I left out a gasp.
"Ohhh....my..."
Meera licked her lips.
"You wanted this, didn't you?"
"Yes. For long, I've waited for this moment, Meera."
"I won't make you wait anymore."
She said and went down again, this time she didn't take it all the way in. She stopped halfway and then began to bob her head. I was lifted to a fine place in heaven and ran my fingers through her hair without spoiling it.
"Ohhh my god. Meera you are my goddess."
She had become my goddess. And the fact that she was doing this to Desai in her imagination simply added to the excitement. She took his name at every opportunity and I enjoyed every time she did it.
As she climbed over me and kissed me with her lips wet with my precum, she upped the game one notch further by swirling her tongue in and around my mouth.
"You love how I move it inside your mouth, Susheel?"
"Mmm..." I moaned. "Your lips have become softer."
"Your big boy down there turned it softer," Meera said. And then added, "the next time I want you to fuck my mouth, Susheel."
More than what she spoke, I enjoyed how she chose to stick with his first name. Perhaps it was her way to assume more intimacy with him in her imagination.
"I am gonna love it. And after that, I will tell your husband how it felt when I fucked your mouth."
Meera's eyes paused to lock with mine.
"Why?"
"Because I know he's gonna enjoy hearing about it."
Meera smiled and drew a line on my cheek with her finger, casually.
"You know a lot about my husband, mister." She said and the next moment she lowered her hip onto mine. I felt my member being grabbed by her left hand and guided into her wet hole. Meera's chest shivered as she welcomed me in.
"You can also tell him how it felt when you fucked my pussy."
Meera said again.
"I will. I will tell him that too, my darling."
She kissed me once again and slowly sat up to start riding me. For the next ten minutes, she gave me the pleasure of being dominated completely in bed. She did everything I could to dream about how Desai would love to receive it from her. In the end, when I came, I begged Meera to spit into my mouth.
But she refused.
"No. That treatment is reserved for my husband only. Are you my husband, mister Susheel Desai?"
"I would love to become your husband then."
I said without thinking.
"Oh really?" Meera smiled. "But there's no vacancy. I already have a husband. His name is Krish."
I enjoyed every word that came out of her mouth. When she got off me and lay next to me, heavily panting, I kissed her forehead.
"I'm proud to be your husband, baby."
Meera smiled. "Who are you, by the way?"
"I'm Krish. Back to life!"
Meera laughed. "My cucky husband!"
She adorably pinched my cheek and sat up.
Later I asked her if she missed being followed by Desai. I asked if his absence was felt at any point.
"It would be a lie if I told you I didn't. But I can tell you I never thought about him that way until he left. I think his absence has brought him closer to me, to us, more than when he was around."
She was right. I shook my head.
"But we are glad that he has changed."
"Yes, he changed a lot."
"Earlier, I used to be intimidated by him. But now, I don't."
"Are you going to invite him for the anniversary?" She asked me.
"I would love to. But I'm sceptical because Sadashiv will also be there; he will identify Desai."
Being the gatekeeper and maintenance in charge, Sadashiv had a key role in conducting any event in our building. I was sure he would never forget Desai who had turned him into a one time burglar.
"That's gonna be a good thing because Desai turning up our guest will make Sadashiv believe that there's nothing between Desai and us. It will clear the air." Meera opined.
I thought she was right.
"Then yes, we are going to invite Desai," I said. "It will be the last occasion when we meet him. He also will be aware of this fact. What do you think he would be thinking about it?" I wondered later.
"Absolutely no idea. I think he would just stand and stare from a distance. Because there would be a lot of people."
"What if there is no one but me?"
"Ohhh then!" Meera blossomed into a smile. "Then I'm sure you wouldn't mind me letting him have a bit of freedom."
"Such as?"
"Such as... Holding my hand, putting his arm around me."
"And that's it?"
"Not just that. He got to be Desai. The Susheel Desai. I'm sure he would kiss me, as you watch."
"And you would let him?"
She gave me a moment to engage with her eyes.
"Looking at your eyes, I can say that's what you want me to do."
"Cut the crap baby. Tell me you would let him. On your own."
Meera laughed.
"If I were on my own, I would end up getting much more from him. I know you wouldn't mind that."
"Much more means?"
"I know you can imagine that you pervert!"
She pushed me away and got up. She was trying to stop from going too far with the talking. But she had talked enough. We both had conveyed enough of our fantasies.
I pushed it further by making a video call to Desai. He was sitting in what seemed like an office.
"I'm surprised, my friend!" He said, with his usual charm. I felt his hair had just gotten longer.
"You'll be surprised if I told you where I am sitting," I said.
"Ohhh no way! I've just noticed that you're sitting in my apartment, well, in my bedroom."
Meera was gone out of the room, and she returned probably hearing my talking.
"I'm not alone, by the way," I said and gestured for Meera to come and sit by me on the bed. Meera sat next to me and smiled at him, albeit with a bit of hesitation.
Desai just sat staring at her for a moment.
"Desai?" I sought a response. "Can you see her?"
"Yes, Krish. Hi Meera. I've forgotten how to say hi to a beautiful woman."
Meera gave him a shy smile and threw a glance at me before responding to him. "Stop trying to be humble. I know you can't forget anything. Your hairstyle looks good, by the way."
I was astonished to see Meera paying compliments without any hesitation now. I could see Desai beaming with joy.
"Thanks for letting me know you do notice the little changes in my appearance. And even better knowing you like it. What exactly are you guys doing in my bedroom, if I may ask?"
"We're buying your apartment. Krish likes it."
Meera replied. They were the ones doing all the talking now. I just held the mobile straight so they could see each other well.
"What about you?"
Desai asked.
"I haven't made up my mind."
"But you already said you're buying. I know you have made up your mind."
Meera laughed. "Oops. I forgot who I was talking to."
Desai joined her in the laughter. "I will remember this little chat of ours, Meera. You never stop being fun."
"You have had bundles of chats with me to remember. Don't flatter me."
"I wish I was there, doing this face to face."
"You never stop being greedy."
"You never stop making me greedy."
I was becoming jealous seeing how they were going on and on with the banter. A sense of awkwardness was growing around me, but at the same time, I couldn't pretend oblivious to the bulging growth in my pants.
"You shouldn't forget that my husband is also sitting here."
Meera suddenly brought me back to reality.
"Yeah, sure. Has he told you what he likes in the apartment?"
"He said the bed is way softer than the one at our home," Meera remarked cheekily and stole a glance at me. At the same time, she put her arm under mine, as if to smooth my response if any. "Along with a few other things." She added further.
"Now you are playing with my emotions, dear. Krish is no less smart to do it either. I'm gonna raise the cost of the flat." Desai said with a smile.
"In that case, Krish has got an idea to trick you," Meera said and looked at me, "invite him." She whispered.
She leaned forward to reach my hand and adjusted the way I held the mobile phone. I couldn't ignore how she flashed a glimpse of her cleavage in the act.
"Desai, I made this call to invite you for our wedding anniversary. The coming Thursday. Please be our guest."
Desai spent two seconds verbalising his response.
"I'm pleased to receive this invitation. But I'm a bit hesitant to show up. It's a bit personal. My love and wishes will always stay with you. But, considering how I've been trying to move on, I would prefer to extend my greetings from a distance."
I was stunned by his refusal. He had rejected our invitation on our face.
"Yeah, we understand your dilemma. And we respect your choice." Meera said quickly. "But let me ask you one thing. What about the anniversary present? Are you gonna courier it to our address?"
I ended up giggling at her response.
"This lady will never let me rest, Krish." Desai blurted. "How would you like it?"
"I would like it if you handed it by yourself."
"There should be another way." Desai leaned back on his chair.
"This is the way."
Desai laughed at her cinematic reference.
"This is the way." He casually nudged his hair strands behind his ear and then shook his head. "So be it. Will have to figure out a way to say no to you. You've been doing it with me for years but I haven't learnt a thing."
"Now that's your thing. Your presence on Thursday is confirmed, that's it."
Meera said and waved at him. He waved back at her.
"See you soon, Desai," I said and cut the phone.
"How do you come up with a reason to change his mind so easily?" I asked Meera.
"Honestly, I don't know. I just go with the flow and it happens."
"I just love it when you go with the flow."
"Yeah, I've noticed," She quipped.
Back at home, that night, I thought about how our emotions swung in different directions. Desai's apartment had been a place I hated for a long time. I was infuriated when Desai took me there for the first time. I could not stand the sight of the dining table then. I was haunted for many days by the imagination of my wife's moans coming out of his master bedroom.
That day Desai offered me that flat and I rejected it immediately. I genuinely hated the place, and hence I genuinely hated the idea of owning it.
But my second visit to the same place had the opposite effect. I loved the place. When I looked at the dining table, I could not stop my arousal. I wanted to replicate what Desai had done to Meera. And then I went on to his master bedroom and lived the pleasure of being Desai to immerse both me and Meera in absolute ecstasy. In the end, by the time we returned, we had a sense of achievement that we were going to own that flat. We loved the idea of going back there and starting to live there.
Meera had the same feelings which she confirmed when I asked her which flat she would prefer to sell off later.
"Let's sell the flat in Maithrei's building."
She said.
It meant she preferred living in Desai's apartment.
We decided to move into the new flat immediately after our upcoming wedding anniversary. I called Desai and told him that we were ready to buy the flat. Desai thanked me.
"You've just eased my life, friend. Last time when I came to Pune I had dinner with Maithrei. After the dinner she expected me to take her to my place. Any of my places. That's how it had been in the past. But I didn't take her to any place. And I like to keep it the same way. I'm gonna sell off my villa as well."
"You're gonna cut your roots with this city, aren't you?"
"I'm gonna get rid of the temptations. That's it. My roots are in Shimoga."
He said.

For the anniversary, we had invited all the residents of our building, along with a few friends from the nearby flats. We also invited two of Meera's old colleagues - Anagha and Nelson. Anagha brought her child along. Three of my friends and their families were invited. And I invited Ashish at the last moment, after getting Meera's node.
The event was planned to conduct at the party hall on the ground floor of our building. A local event organiser was hired for making the arrangements.
I was so busy making the anniversary a grand event that I eventually forgot one important thing. Anniversary gift for Meera.
It had been at the back of my mind but I could not act on it until very late. When I asked Meera what she wanted as an anniversary gift, she did not welcome it.
"You finally had to ask me, Krish! What timing!" She said. "I have never asked for any gifts in the past, and I won't do it in future too. I like surprises though, like the saree you gifted me on our first anniversary. Now you make it look like you're doing it for the sake of it. It's just part of your arrangements."
I was taken aback by her response. I wondered what was happening in my life. It was the first time Meera had thrown any sign of tantrum as a wife.
For once, I wondered if our love was becoming sour.
The next morning I went shopping and bought a fabulous saree for Meera. I thought Meera would wear it during the anniversary event. But my attempt to impress my wife fell flat again when I presented the saree to her.
"How can I wear it without a matching blouse, Krish? Yes, the blouse piece is there but there's no time to stitch it!"
"It's just a blouse, Meera. It hardly takes a day for a tailor to stitch one blouse." I said.
"But all the good tailors I know have busy schedules. They won't accept this order at the last moment because it will disturb their present commitments. Another thing, the saree you bought is so beautiful that I won't wear it with a simple blouse. It deserves a blouse that has some embroidery and beading work. It will take more time."
I was disappointed that my anniversary gift came of no use to her.
"Don't worry, baby." Meera consoled me. "More than the use of the gift, your attempt to make me happy is what matters. And I love what you chose for me."
She held me close and kissed my cheek. I felt better.
"What are you wearing for the event?" I wondered.
Meera said she was planning to wear a lehenga.
"I have also bought you a matching suit. I can't wait to see you in that." She added with a beautiful smile.
"I don't know what I would do without you, babe. I'm so happy."
I said.
"Don't worry, my boy," Meera laughed. "I'm not going anywhere."

The anniversary was on Thursday. The arrangements were made at the large hall on the ground floor. The inside of the hall was decorated with flowers and balloons. Some photos from our wedding printed in large size were displayed. A beautifully decorated wooden table was placed on the raised platform at the farthest end, for the cake cutting. Another table was placed at one side for keeping the gifts. Cushioned chairs for the guests were arranged in front of the raised platform. Dining tables were placed further behind them. Food was kept in the small room behind the raised platform.
The arrangements were impressive.
Most of the guests arrived on time and assembled at the hall.
Meera wore an ivory and pink silk lehenga with a matching blouse adorned with stones and a pink chiffon veil. She looked stunning and her gorgeous smile simply made people forget to look away.
As she walked onto the stage I could not help but notice how her presence outshone every decorative light out there. The colour tone of her lehenga matched the white lights and pink balloons in the background, making it hard to believe that it was a mere coincidence.
The transparent dupatta though worn across her chest barely hid something for the onlookers' imagination. The equally transparent sleeves of her shimmery white stone embedded blouse gracefully exposed the beauty of her arms. The deep-cut neckline of her blouse teased a good amount of her cleavage. She chose not to wear any ornament around her neck and it simply helped her glowing skin gather all the attention. The blouse, despite all the embroidery and stonework, did not shy away from showing the shape of her breasts.
She wore the flared lehenga skirt an inch below her navel, which helped her flaunt the seductively beautiful navel button under the transparent dupatta.
Topping it all was a gorgeous face that never shied away from giving bright smiles to whoever she interacted with.
I wore the stylish suit gifted by her and stood with confidence. Everyone said we were made for each other and I felt proud.
The event went smoothly. We started with a short talk by Meera and me followed by cake cutting. We thanked the guests for joining us in the celebration. Drinks were served and music was played soon. The table on the stage was shifted inside the room to make space for some dancing. We danced first and then a few couples joined. It didn't last long though, as the kids started dominating the scene. We moved down and interacted with the guests, all cracking jokes and laughing wholeheartedly.
It was great fun.
All the outside guests except Desai had shown up on time, apart from all the families present in the building. Desai phoned me in between and said that his flight was delayed after a mishap occurred at Pune airport. Though he conveyed his worry that he wouldn't make it on time, I expressed my hope that he would make it. I told him he would be welcomed, no matter how late he arrived.
When Sheetal came with Pawan to meet me, I noticed Harish staring at her back from a few feet away. Sheetal looked beautiful wearing a beautiful well shaped churidar. I wondered if Harish was fancying his chances to have sex with her again.
She's your gone girl, dude. I said in my mind. I thought I should let Meera talk to him a few more times to know if he's seeing someone new. But I was sure he wouldn't think of anyone else but Meera after the event.
Sheetal whispered to Meera that she was not wearing vermilion and Meera said she forgot it as she had hurried while getting ready. Meera looked apologetically at me and I said it's okay.
"Nobody is gonna doubt your marital status, at least not today," I said. The ladies had a good laugh.
Harish and Girish were heads-over-heels already when they saw Meera. They tried to flirt with her while on stage and I had to admit their guts. I noticed how Harish was eating up her alive with his eyes, and I enjoyed it.
Ashish thanked me for remembering him. He reminded me that he usually avoids such parties.
"But you guys are special, how can I say no to you?" He asked, smiling at us both.
He left early though.
As we spent the night being the centre of attraction of all those around us, I noticed how the other men were using the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Meera. As we interacted with those men who were earlier named by Narayan uncle, I was thrilled to see their eyes lingering on Meera - her lips, neck, cleavage, and even her belly - and I felt aroused. It was a moment when I badly missed Desai.
I wanted to know how he would separate himself from the other men.
Eventually, the dinner was served.
The dining area had enough tables to accommodate all the guests in one go and it helped us finish the party on time. We were able to wrap up the party before 11 o'clock. We got the help of our night watchman Fernandes to move all the gifts to our house.
As we returned to our flat I noticed the news among the notifications on my mobile.
'Air India Flight Overshoots at the Pune.'
I was curious and switched on the news on TV. It was breaking news.
"A major mishap was averted at the Pune airport after a domestic Air India flight overshot the runway during landing. The incident took place at around 8 pm. The Air India flight, from Bangalore to Pune, overran the runway and skidded after landing..."
Meera was beginning to change and she returned to the hall.
"Was Desai on this flight?"
She asked.
"I think so."
I said and phoned Desai immediately. The doorbell rang before the call went. I cut the phone call and answered the door.
It was Desai.
