Atul shook his head. “That’s right.”
“And my advice is that we must not involve a third person, apart from me and you, in the whole thing.”
Atul agreed quickly and he fell thoughtful. Rajat studied him carefully before he spoke again.

Atul stared at him for a second.
“How?”

“I wasn’t thinking that.” Atul shook his head. “Anvita will never agree to do such things with you.”

Atul was done talking. He got up and straightened his arms.

When Atul went to bed he tried to imagine Rajat and Anvita looking at each other in a pub.

Atul woke up hearing his phone ring. There was sad news for him. George had an accident when he visited dad’s farmhouse. The mill was being repaired after it was destroyed in the recent fire accident. His right hand was trapped in the machine and crushed.
Atul visited him in the hospital. His right hand was cut from the wrist. Leona was there along with family members and friends. Atul felt sorry to see Leona’s sad face. He felt a pang of guilt too, for the accident happened at his dad’s farmhouse. He left the hospital very soon.

Atul was browsing through the photographs from the warehouse when he noticed some packages kept aside for consignment. He got curious and checked the consignment records. The consignee was Chetak Engineering.
He quickly consulted Shreyas.
“Why this model is still being moved by us? We don’t have it, do we?”
Shreyas checked the documents and shook his head.
“This is just a few. It’s okay.”
His casual reply annoyed Atul.
“No. it’s not okay, Shreyas. It’s not what I’ve been promoting. We haven’t covered them in our contract. We shouldn’t be sending it when we have an upgraded model listed. It’s…”
Shreyas interrupted him. “I told you, Atul. It’s okay. It’s just a few. It won’t make a difference.”
Atul glared at him.
“Atul, it better not be your concern. We have a lot of these in our stock. We have to get them moved. Leave these things to me. I am in charge here. Why don’t you stick with what you got on your table?”
“You are not in charge of me, Shreyas. I got you these deals, good deals. Is this what you make of those deals?”
“Are you threatening me, Atul?”
Atul stared at him.
“I have no such intention, Shreyas. You said it right. It’s not my concern.”
Atul got up and walked away. He was not the guy who’s gonna argue a lot.
When he was back at his desk, he quickly grabbed his mobile phone and began typing a message.

Atul was expecting Rajat when he returned home. He needed to talk.
“So, have you thought about it?”
“Yes,” Atul said. “I still don’t think it’s practical, Rajat. Anvita will never allow this to happen.”
Atul was confident because he knew of the lesson Anvita had learnt from Varun.
“Let’s say we’ll help her feel okay about it, like, maybe a couple of drinks can get her into it. So leave it. Tell me about you. Are you ready to play with your mind?”
Atul spent a moment to think.

Rajat grinned.
“Then I suggest we’ll avoid the public place.”
“Then?”
“What about your house?”
“You think she’ll give you any attention in my own house? I mean, other than a friend?”

Atul shook his head.
“It won’t work. I know.”
“We won’t know unless we try. If we succeed, it’s your luck.”

Throughout the day Atul pondered over that ‘little longer’. He knew it was his nasty fantasy that helped him last that long. But he was scared of reality. He had seen the admiring eyes of Anvita.

Atul remained anxious in the night. He couldn’t initiate sex.
Next day, he sat with Rajat and told him the incident.

Atul was already shaking his head in rejection. He remembered Leona.

Atul stared at him. Rajat's eyes were locked at him and he went on.

Atul nodded slowly. Rajat snapped.

“But I am worried about that stranger.”
Atul said.
“I know that’s a problem. There’s a risk if we involve a third person. That’s why I suggested that you can take help from me.”
 
Atul knew it was wise not to listen to his dangerous ideas. Rajat was no expert. But at the same time, Atul was unable to dismiss the possibilities.
What if it worked?
He remembered how disappointed Neeti was. That was just once. For Anvita, it was the same every time. If she’s not showing it, she’s too gentle. He thought.
But there could be another way. I should better see an expert. A doctor. Isn’t that the better option?
 
“What do you say?”
Rajat interrupted his thoughts.
Atul took a long pause trying to turn his refusal as gentle as possible. When he finally opened his mouth, he said something else.
