Me: If you don’t mind, I shall wait here. I don’t want to come out dressed like this. (Pointing out at the petticoat and the blanket)
Anita: Tell you what Kalpana, if you are that concerned about the flimsy petticoat, then you can wear my saree. That would make you feel much better. OK? Besides, I would like to do this to you as a favour and good will, for causing all the trouble to you just now.
I was touched, hearing that from her. Before I could answer any further, she swiftly removed her saree and handed it to me. I took it from her without words, and thanked her with my eyes as I quickly wore it, dropping the blanket on the floor.
I secured the pallu over my tits and tucked it in my hip. As I just bent to pick the blanket to cover my shoulder, Anita bent down to pick it up.
Anita: Do you mind if I use this one now Kalpana? now that you have a saree?
(That was the most sincere mock request ever).
Me: Oh ok then. (I just couldn’t refuse that).
Anita: Ok, come-on, let’s go to the first class cabin now. Anil should be waiting there.
