Scene 4 – The Clinic
The Aarogya Wellness & Intimacy Clinic
The clinic was not what Naveen had expected.
He had imagined something clinical, white walls, fluorescent lights, the smell of antiseptic.
He had imagined waiting rooms and paperwork and the quiet humiliation of sitting in a chair while strangers walked past.
He had braced himself for all of it.
Instead, he walked into something that felt like a spa.
The reception area was warm and softly lit, with wooden floors and potted plants and a faint scent of sandalwood in the air.
The chairs were upholstered in cream linen.
There was a small fountain in the corner, water trickling over smooth black stones.
Instrumental music played at a volume just below conscious awareness.
The whole space seemed designed to lower the pulse, to slow the breath, to make you forget, for a moment, why you were there.
A young woman sat behind the reception desk.
She was in her early twenties, pretty in a quiet way, and she smiled as they approached.
"Mr. and Mrs. Naveen? Welcome to Aarogya. Dr. Rao will be with you shortly. Please, make yourselves comfortable."
She gestured to the seating area.
Naveen and Seema sat down on a sofa that was softer than anything they owned.
A tray of tea appeared, small cups, steaming, arranged with precision, and Naveen took one without thinking, just to have something to do with his hands.
He looked at Seema.
She was sitting very straight, her hands folded in her lap, her eyes moving slowly around the room.
She had worn a simple kurta today, pale green, nothing special, and she had tied her hair back in a way that made her look younger, more vulnerable.
He wanted to reach for her hand, but something about the space made him hesitate.
It felt too quiet, too composed, for something as messy as need.
"It's nice," he said, quietly.
She nodded.
"It's expensive."
He almost laughed.
She wasn't wrong.

The website had been vague about fees, but the consultation is expensive.
He had paid it without hesitation.
He would have paid anything.
The door at the far end of the room opened.
Dr. Anjali Rao walked toward them.
She was in her forties, tall and elegant, with silver-streaked hair pulled back in a loose knot and dark eyes that seemed to take in everything at once.
She wore a simple cotton saree, deep maroon, no embellishment, and she moved with the easy confidence of someone who had spent years in rooms like this, putting nervous people at ease.
"Mr. Naveen," she said, offering her hand.
"Mrs. Seema. I'm Dr. Anjali Rao. Thank you for coming in."
Her handshake was warm and firm.
She held Seema's hand a moment longer than necessary, looking into her eyes with an expression of genuine kindness.
"I know this isn't easy," she said.
"Coming to a place like this. Talking to a stranger about something so private. I want you to know that whatever you share with me stays in this room. And there is no judgment here, only help."
Naveen felt something loosen in his chest.
He hadn't realized how tense he was until that moment.
Beside him, he saw Seema's shoulders drop, just slightly, and he knew she had felt it too.
"Please," Anjali said, gesturing to the door.
"Come through."
She led them to a consultation room that was as calm as the reception area, soft lighting, comfortable chairs, a small desk with a vase of fresh flowers.
There was a window that looked out onto a garden, and Naveen could see a small courtyard with a fountain and a few benches.
It was peaceful.
It was the kind of place where you could imagine telling your secrets.

Dr. Anjali sat across from them and folded her hands.
"Tell me why you're here," she said.
"Not the medical version. The real version."
Naveen glanced at Seema.
She was looking at her hands.
"I'll start," he said.
He told the story as best he could.
The wedding night.
The weeks that followed.
The way Seema froze every time they tried to be intimate.
The way it had begun to feel like a wall between them, not just physical, but emotional.
He tried to be honest.
He tried not to make it sound like her fault.
He tried not to make it sound like his fault either.
When he finished, Anjali nodded slowly.
"And you, Seema?" she said.
"What's your version?"
Seema was quiet for a long moment.
When she spoke, her voice was barely above a whisper.
"I want to be a good wife," she said.
"I want to, I want to be with my husband. I want to feel what other women feel. But every time we try, something happens. My body, it just, "
She stopped.
Her eyes filled with tears.
Anjali leaned forward.
"May I tell you something?" she said.
"Something I've learned in fifteen years of doing this work?"
Seema nodded.
"You are not broken. You are not frigid. You are not inadequate. What's happening to you is a protective response. Your body has learned to associate intimacy with danger, for reasons we don't yet understand, and it reacts accordingly. It's not a flaw. It's a defense mechanism."
Seema looked up.
There was something in her eyes, a flicker of hope, fragile and tentative.
"Can it be fixed?" she asked.
"Not fixed," Anjali said.
"Healed. There's a difference. Fixing implies something was wrong with you. Healing implies something was hurt, and needs time and care to recover. That's what we do here. We help women heal."

Naveen felt his throat tighten.
He reached for Seema's hand, and this time, she took it.
"What do we do?" he asked.
Anjali smiled.
"We start with individual sessions. I'll work with Seema first, one-on-one, to understand the root of what's happening."
"Then we'll bring you in, Naveen, for couples work."
"This isn't something you can solve by yourself, and it's not something she can solve alone."
"It's a process. It takes time. But I've seen it work, again and again."
She looked at Seema.
"I'd like to start with you," she said.
"If you're ready."
Seema hesitated.
Then she nodded.
"Yes," she said.
"I'm ready."
Dr. Anjali rose and led Seema toward an inner door.
Naveen stood, uncertain.
"Where should I…"
"The lounge," Anjali said, gesturing back toward the reception area.
"There's tea, and some magazines. We'll be about an hour, maybe a little more. I'll come find you when we're done."
She paused at the door and looked back at him.
"Thank you for bringing her here," she said.
"Not every husband would."
And then she was gone, and Naveen was alone in the consultation room, standing in the soft light, not sure what to do with his hands.

The therapy room was smaller than the consultation room, but just as calm.
A comfortable couch.
A single chair.
Soft lighting.
A window that looked out onto the garden.
And on the wall, a painting, an abstract thing, soft colors, nothing you would look at twice.
Seema sat on the couch.
Anjali sat in the chair, a notebook open on her lap.
"Tell me about your childhood," Anjali said.
Seema blinked.
"My childhood?"
"Just in general. What was it like?"
Seema thought for a moment.
"Normal, I suppose. I grew up in Vijayawada. My father was a bank manager. My mother was a homemaker. I have one brother, older. We were, we were a normal family."
"Happy?"
"I think so. I don't remember being unhappy."
Anjali nodded, writing something down.
"And your parents, were they affectionate with each other? Did you see them hold hands, kiss, show affection?"
Seema hesitated.
"Not really. They were, traditional. They didn't do those things in front of us."
"And with you? Were they physically affectionate with you? Hugs, kisses, that sort of thing?"
"My mother, sometimes. My father, " Seema paused.
"My father was not a demonstrative man. He loved us, I know that. But he didn't, he didn't touch us much. Not in a bad way," she added quickly.
"Just, he wasn't that kind of person."
Anjali nodded again.
"And when you were growing up, what were you taught about sex? About your body?"
Seema felt her cheeks flush.
"Nothing. I mean, my mother told me about menstruation when I was eleven. And before the wedding, she told me, she said it would be my duty to, to please my husband. That I should not be shy. That it was natural. But she didn't, she didn't explain anything. She just said I would understand when the time came."
"And did you?"
"No." The word came out sharper than Seema intended.
"No, I didn't understand. I still don't."

Anjali set down her pen.
She leaned forward, her eyes kind.
"What you're describing is very common," she said.
"Girls raised in environments where sex is never discussed, where affection is rarely shown, where the body is treated as something shameful or mysterious, they grow up with a disconnect."
"They don't learn to trust their own bodies."
"And then, when they're expected to suddenly become sexual beings on their wedding night, their bodies rebel."
She paused.
"That's not your fault, Seema. That's not a flaw in you. It's a wound. And wounds can heal."
Seema felt tears prick her eyes.
She nodded.
"Now," Anjali said, her tone shifting slightly, becoming more clinical.
"I'd like to do a physical examination. Nothing invasive, just to make sure there's nothing physical going on. Is that all right?"
Seema hesitated.
Then she nodded.
Anjali led her to a small examination room behind a curtain.
There was a table in the corner, an examination chair, a tray of instruments.
She asked Seema to lie down on an examination table, and she checked her pulse, her blood pressure, her breathing.
She asked questions, about her menstrual cycle, about any pain, about any history of trauma or abuse.
Seema answered everything.
No trauma.
No abuse.
No pain.
Anjali made notes.
Then she asked Seema to sit up.
"I'd like to try something," she said.
"Just a relaxation exercise. Something I want you to practice at home."
She asked Seema to close her eyes.
To breathe deeply.
To focus on the sensations in her body, the weight of her limbs, the rhythm of her breath, the feel of the couch beneath her.
She asked her to imagine a safe place, somewhere she felt calm, protected, at peace.
Seema tried.
She really tried.
But all she could see was the hotel room.
The rose petals.
The look on Naveen's face when she had frozen.
"I can't," she whispered.
"That's all right," Anjali said.
"That's why we're here. To find the places where you get stuck."
She opened her eyes.
Anjali was watching her with an expression of infinite patience.

"Seema," Dr. Anjali said, "I'm going to ask you to change into this."
"There's a changing screen behind you, and a hook for your clothes."
"Take your time."
She held out a gown.
It was light blue, the color of a shallow sea, and when Seema took it, the fabric was almost absurdly soft, brushed cotton, the kind that cost more than her wedding blouse.
She stepped behind the screen and undressed, folding her kurta and jeans and then, after a pause, her bra and panties.
She pulled the gown over her head and felt it settle against her skin.
It was short.
Shorter than she had anticipated.
The hem floated a good six inches above her knees, and the back, the back was nothing.
It was cut away entirely, from the shoulder blades all the way down to the small of her back, held together only by a single thin strap that she had to tie in a bow behind her neck.
She turned slightly and caught her own reflection in the mirror mounted on the screen and saw the long line of her spine, the smooth brown of her back, the small hollow at its base.
She had good legs.
She knew that much.
Her thighs were full and firm from years of Bharatanatyam as a girl, and they had always been her one vanity.
"All set?" Dr. Anjali called.
"Yes, doctor."
"Come."
The examination chair stood at the center of the room under the chandelier.
Seema had seen pictures of such things but never sat in one.
It was upholstered in a pale cream leather, padded and reclined at an angle so that the patient lay back as though on a lounger, hips tilted toward the ceiling, head resting against a cushioned cradle.
From the sides of the seat, two curved leg rests extended outward and upward, padded at the knee, positioned so that a woman's legs would have to fall open to use them.
And at the very foot of the chair, mounted on a slim chrome arm, sat a small black camera pointed directly between the leg rests.

Seema stared at the examination chair.
"Sit first," Dr. Anjali said gently.
"Then lie back and bring your legs up. One at a time. Rest your calves on the pads."
Seema sat.
The leather was warm.
She swung her legs up, one, then the other, and the moment her calves found the padded rests, her thighs simply gave way and fell open, and she understood at once that the chair had been engineered for exactly this.
The angle of the leg rests forced her knees apart, spread them wide and easy, no effort, no modesty, no pressing.
She lay back, and the ceiling chandelier swam above her, and she could not see anything beyond her own raised knees.
"Comfortable?"
"Yes," she said, and was surprised that it was true.
Dr. Anjali dragged a low stool to the foot of the chair, and Seema heard it scbang softly across the floor, and then she heard nothing, because the doctor was below her line of sight, sitting between her spread legs, looking.
Just looking.
Seema felt her face grow warm.
She had spread her legs for a doctor before, once, for the brisk woman, but that had been clinical, cold, over in ninety seconds.
This was different.
This was being seen.
"Your gown has ridden up," Dr. Anjali said, and Seema felt cool air on her stomach and the bare skin of her mound.
The hem had slipped back.
She reached down to tug it, but the doctor said, "Leave it. It's better this way."
And then there was a long silence, and Seema understood, somehow, that Dr. Anjali was admiring her.
She was.
Dr. Anjali sat with her elbows on her knees and simply looked at the thighs open before her, and it was a beautiful scene.

Seema's legs were long and shapely, tapering from firm rounded calves to thighs that were generous and smooth, the skin a very fair and soft, the inner thighs paler where the sun never reached, and they fell away from each other in a slow graceful V.
The gown had bunched at her waist, and between her thighs, framed by that widening V, sat her pussy, small, neat, the outer lips softly furled, a trim patch of dark hair above it, the rest of the skin bare and clean and glowing under the chandelier.
It was the pussy of a woman in her twenties, untouched by childbirth, unmarked, almost girlish in its tidiness, and it was closed in a way that seemed to be waiting.
Dr. Anjali reached out with both thumbs and, very gently, drew the outer lips apart.
Seema inhaled.
The skin inside was the palest pink, a light rose, almost translucent, delicate as the inside of a shell.
It was a color that did not seem possible on a body that otherwise ran to warm browns, and it glowed against the honey skin around it.
The inner lips emerged, small and petaled, still shy, and then, framed at their top, the hood of her clitoris and the tiny nub beneath it, pink and half-hidden.
Below, the dark small opening of her vagina.
"Look at that," Dr. Anjali murmured, more to herself than to Seema.
"You have beautiful coloring. Very fair inside."
Seema's whole body flushed.
"Thank you," she whispered, and felt foolish.
Dr. Anjali spread her pussy wider, using both thumbs to peel the lips back and away, opening her pussy like a flower pressed gently flat.
She spread until Seema could feel the cool air reaching deep into her clit, into the pink walls themselves, until the whole of her pussy lay open and exposed and utterly visible under the light, every fold and ridge and shadow on display.
Seema's thighs trembled slightly at the exposure.
She wanted to close them.
She could not.

And Dr. Anjali leaned in close.
So close that Seema could feel her breath, warm and soft, passing over the wet pink skin.
Close enough to examine, and she examined.
She studied the edge of the hymenal ring, that pale thin crescent of tissue that had never once been breached, the small opening at its center no wider than a fingertip.
She tilted her head one way, then the other, following the curve of it.
"There it is," she said softly.
"Your hymen. It's still intact. Completely closed."
"It is?" Seema said, and her voice cracked a little.
"Completely." Dr. Anjali ran the pad of one finger, feather-light, along the thin edge of the tissue.
Seema's hips jumped.
"You can feel that?"
"Yes."
"Good. That's the tissue reacting. It's not rigid, it's stretchy, elastic. Some hymens are stiff, they tear the first time almost by themselves. Yours is soft. It's the kind that gives way if it's coaxed properly." She paused.
"The problem is not here, Seema.
Whatever that other doctor told you, the problem is not here."
Seema's eyes stung, suddenly and absurdly.
"But I could never let Naveen go that far."
"Aahaa, that is another problem. We can deal with that later. Now. I'm going to feel inside. Slowly. Tell me if anything hurts."
Dr. Anjali slicked her index finger with a little gel from a pump bottle, and then brought the fingertip to the small dark opening and pressed.
The tip slipped in, barely, just past the first ring of muscle, and Seema felt the stretch, a strange, full, almost ticklish sensation, like the first swallow of something too large.
She made a small sound.
"Breathe," Dr. Anjali said.
"Out, not in."
Seema breathed out, and her body let go, and the finger sank deeper, gliding along the warm wet pink walls, and Seema felt every millimeter of it, the slow drag of the finger against tissue that had never known a touch.

The gentle pressure spreading outward, the impossible intimacy of being entered while someone watched from below.
Dr. Anjali pushed in until her knuckle met the outer lips, and then she stopped, finger fully seated, and held it there.
Seema's thighs were trembling openly now, and she did not know why, because nothing hurt.
It was the fullness, maybe.
The awareness.
The fact that she could feel the pulse in her own walls wrapping around the doctor's finger, alive and greedy in a way she had never imagined herself capable of.
Seema felt her pussy lips stretch around the knuckle, felt the fullness deepen and spread until it bordered on a stretch that was almost sweetly painful.
She bit her lip.
"Breathe out."
She breathed out.
The finger slid past the ring, then met the hymen, and the resistance was real, a firm taut pull, and Dr. Anjali paused there and let it stretch, slow and patient, counting under her breath.
Seema's heels dug into the padded rests.
Her thighs, those long, full, dancer's thighs, had fallen so wide that she could feel the cool air all the way up to her hips.
And she understood that if she looked down past her knees she would see the doctor's dark head between them, close and intent.
"One finger, you are trembling. You have fear, and your virginal canal is little small. It needs to be stretched." Dr. Anjali said, her voice calm, almost conversational.
"That's the ring. It stretches like a rubber band. Now the hymen."
She withdrew almost entirely, then slid back in, angling slightly upward, and Seema felt the difference at once, a thin resistance, a faint catch, as though a small elastic band inside her had hooked onto the fingertip and stretched, and stretched, and did not break.
It was a sensation of stretching rather than tearing, a slow give, and Seema found herself arching her back into it without meaning to, chasing the strange delicious pull.

"There," Dr. Anjali said.
"Do you feel that?"
"Yes…"
"Good. That's the tissue stretching, not tearing.
Look how far it gives." She flexed her finger gently, up and down, testing the elasticity, and Seema gasped as the motion pushed the tip against a place inside her that sent a soft shock up through her belly.
"See? It's not frigidity. It's just, nobody has ever stretched it. It's like a door that's been painted shut. Nothing wrong with the door."
She worked the finger in slow circles, loosening, and Seema's breathing turned shallow.
The room had gone hazy and warm.
The chandelier above her was a smear of gold.
She could feel wetness gathering, not just the gel, but her own, slick and warm, easing the glide of the doctor's finger.
And she was mortified and thrilled in equal measure, because the brisk woman from before had never once made her wet.
"You can be healed Seema, I can assure you. But it takes some time." Dr. Anjali said.
She is moving her finger in side Seema’s pussy,
"Still no pain?"
"No. Just, full."
"That's right. That's exactly right." Dr. Anjali moved her finger, feeling the inside.
And the hymenal ring spread around her finger like a tiny flower forced gently wide, and Seema heard herself moan, small and startled.
"There. Look at that. It's taking my finger easily now. Whoever told you that you were frigid never even tried."
Seema laughed, shaky, and a tear slid sideways into her ear.
Dr. Anjali worked her slowly, finger curling forward now, stroking along the front wall, and every pass lit something bright and sparking behind Seema's navel.
Her clitoris, which had never been anything but a vague rumor in her own body, had swollen under the hood and stood out pink and proud, and Dr. Anjali noticed, because of course she noticed.

"Your clitoris is fully exposed now," Dr. Anjali said.
"Look how it's changed. That's a good sign, Seema. A body that responds is not a frigid body."
She withdrew the finger, and Seema felt the loss like a small grief.
But then Dr. Anjali reached for the camera on its chrome arm and drew it forward, angling the lens down into the open V of her thighs, and Seema realized with a lurch what was about to happen.
"I'm going to photograph this. For your file, and for you. So you can see what I see. Some women need to see it before they believe it." A soft click.
Then another, from a slightly different angle, the lens almost touching the wet pink skin, catching the light in the folds.
Seema looked down past the slope of her own breasts and to see, but nothing was visible to her.
But she could feel the camera nosing between her spread thighs and the doctor's gloved-smooth fingers holding her lips apart, and the little flash went off, once, twice, three times, catching the pale rose of her inner skin, the glisten of her own wetness, the tiny dark opening and the thin crescent of the hymen still stretched and pink and whole.
"There," Dr. Anjali said at last, drawing the camera back and setting it aside, and she sat looking at her work with quiet satisfaction.
"Your vagina is small, and it is tight. Also you have some psychological hesitations."
She reached up and, with the back of one warm hand, brushed the tear from Seema's cheek.
"Now," she said.
"Sit up slowly."

"We'll work on that," Dr. Anjali said.
"Next time. And the time after. There's no rush."
"Healing takes time. But you will become normal."
"Completely normal."
Seema nodded.
"One more thing," Anjali said.
"I'd like you to start a journal. Write down what you feel, physically, emotionally, when you're with your husband. When you try to be intimate. Even if it's just a word or two. Can you do that?"
"I can try."
"That's all I ask."
Anjali smiled.
"You did well today. Very well. I'll see you next week. Same time."
Behind the wall, in a room she would never see, the cameras watched.
They were not the kind of cameras you would notice.
They were small, no bigger than a thumbnail, embedded in the walls, in the ceiling, in the frame of the painting that hung in the therapy room.
The lenses were high-quality, professional-grade, capable of zooming, panning, capturing every detail in crystal clarity.
There were several of them in each therapy room along with the camera Dr.
Anjali used to take some photos.
They recorded everything.
The sessions.
The examinations.
The private moments that were supposed to be sacred.
And in a back office on the other side of the building, a man was watching.
When Seema went into the examination room, Naveen went back to the lounge.
He drank another cup of tea.
He flipped through a magazine without reading a word.
He looked at the fountain, at the plants, at the abstract painting on the wall.
He checked his phone.
He checked it again.
An hour passed.
Then another.
