UPDATE AND EXPLANATION FOR THE UNEXPECTED SABBATICAL
Hey Everyone.
I know a lot of you were disappointed over my sudden absence making everyone think this story will also follow the fate of many other stories in this site. I'll just give you guys a short description of what happened.
This started to happen in June when suddenly I had trouble accessing the site. For few days I recieved a "Bad Gateway" or "Unresponsive" errors on my computer while trying to visit this site. Many may already know I write my stories on my computer as I ain't exactly comfortable with writing it in anything else. I even contemplated on uploading my story on another site but then the unexpected happened.
One day, my place had a faulty electrical mishap and an unexpected power fluctuation caused my Computer's SMPS to completely "Fry". It was broken beyond repair after inspection after realizing the SMPS burst also crippled the interior chip and some parts of the motherboard. Thankfully, I store my stories in an External HDD and thus it was protected but sadly I no longer had my computer to work on it. I wasn't comfortable working on the story in my company laptop as I wasn't comfortable working on the story in that. However, I started working on it in my Tablet but my process became relatively slow.
Fast forward to now as I am preparing to buy a new laptop for me, I will be eventually resuming my work in my own faster pace. However before the mishap , I had completed Chapter 35 and 36. The two chapters I will be posting very soon. I felt a bit disappointed I left the story in an unexpected spot.
The significane of Chapter 35 and 36 is that this will close out the backstory and flashback of how Hemant became Michael King.
After this, Chapter 37 will only come AFTER my new Laptop is in my hands. So I believe 35 and 36 will provide ample time for readers to enjoy the story for weeks , entertaining enough for the time being. Also wanna point out in this unexpected mishap and Sabbatical, I had physically recovered from my past accident that left me with a heavy injusry. In this absence, in my Tablet, I also worked on a new story with the help of AI, a story with a similar theme that I have completed. Will be sharing that also with you all soon.
For now, enjoy Chapter 35 and 36 which will have action, drama, adventures and obviously SEX!
With these two Chapters, we will be closing out the backstory of Hemant's journey to becoming Michael King and return to the current timeline of Sonarika. The story will be taking a different route post Chapter 36 as I am curious to see how the readers will experience Sonarika's individual arc post this backstory revealed to her.
Also, on a side note, I didn't post the Chapter yesterday because I was still recovering from the aftershocks from watching an incredible film JAILER 2. Also thanks to my pal Mr.H who made that incredible edit of a teaser of my story for this to announce my return. So back to the adventure folks as the Age of Darkness descends on our beloved couple Hemant and Sonarika as their conflict of love, pleasure, passion and survival deepens!

CHAPTER 35
OCTOBER 10, 2004 VLADIMIR, RUSSIA
The unfinished skeleton of the high-rise groaned in the freezing Vladimir wind, steel beams rattling like bones against the darkening Russian sky. From the twentieth floor, Hemant watched the glowing expanse of Royal Plaza through the fractured frame of an unfinished wall. Rain threatened overhead, clouds hanging low like bruises. Beside him, Thomas “Trigger” Livingston lay prone behind his sniper rifle, his breath slow and measured, eye fixed through the scope. King hated every second of this. "This is bullshit" he muttered, adjusting the strap of his rifle. "Two men for a Russian Mafia hit? No backup, no exfil? Smells wrong" Trigger didn’t look away from his scope. "We’re not paid to smell things, mate. Just point and shoot" "That’s exactly my problem" Hemant stared through binoculars at the quiet plaza below. "Sniping a man from half a kilometer away? Never liked sniping. Feels equal to backstabbing!" "This the safe way mate , no international incident caused!" Thomas gave a dry chuckle. Before Hemant could reply, the silence shattered. A convoy rolled into Royal Plaza with military precision—black armored SUVs surrounding riot-control BTRs, their hulking silhouettes growling over wet pavement. In the center came a polished black limousine that moved like royalty entering conquered land. Men in dark suits flooded outward, rifles hidden beneath jackets. Professionals. Disciplined. King narrowed his eyes. "Confirm Target?" he muttered. Trigger adjusted the scope. "Target confirmed. Waiting for the glass to lower" The limousine stopped. Slowly, deliberately, the tinted window rolled halfway down. Yosef Tarasov leaned forward. Hemant froze. At this distance, there was no way—absolutely no way—the man could see them. But Yosef was staring directly at them. Smiling. A predator’s smile. Trigger’s finger hesitated above the trigger. "…Tell me he ain’t looking here" Thomas said quietly. Then the hidden speaker crackled alive behind them. Static. A low laugh. And a voice, speaking in thick Russian. "You are fucking with the wrong man!" King’s blood turned to ice. "MOVE!" He tackled Thomas just as the floor erupted. The explosion tore through the overwatch nest with apocalyptic force. Steel screamed. Concrete disintegrated. Fire punched through the structure like the fist of God itself. The shockwave launched both men through unfinished wooden scaffolding, splintering beams beneath them as gravity dragged them downward. Hemant hit first. Hard. His shoulder smashed into broken timber, pain detonating through his ribs. Dust swallowed the world. His ears rang violently. Then— "Mr.King…" Thomas. Hemant forced himself upright through the agony and found Trigger crumpled beneath shattered planks, blood dripping from his forehead. "Up, Now!" Hemant barked, hauling him over his shoulder. Outside, flames devoured the upper floors. And there—standing beside the convoy like some smug king of hell—was Yosef Tarasov. Watching. Smiling. Like he had planned every second. Doors slammed open around him as black SUVs spilled armed men into the streets. Then Yosef raised one hand. And pointed directly at Hemant. The hunt had begun. Gunfire exploded around them. Hemant sprinted through alleyways and skeletal buildings, boots slamming across wet concrete as bullets sparked against steel around him. Trigger, barely conscious over his shoulder, fired blindly behind them with his handgun. "Left!" Thomas coughed. King swerved as automatic fire shredded the wall beside his head. He kicked through a rusted maintenance door and barreled into another unfinished structure, weaving through corridors still wrapped in scaffolding. "Bloody hell…" Trigger muttered weakly, firing again. "You always know how to pick holidays" Hemant almost laughed. Almost. Instead, he grabbed a metal pipe and hurled it through a window. The crash redirected enemy fire for just enough time to escape down a maintenance stairwell. By the time they reached the safehouse, both men were soaked in blood and dust. Hemant slammed the door shut and locked every bolt. "Medic" he muttered, fumbling for his comms. "I need a fucking medic—" Then he looked down. Thomas was pale. Too pale. Blood pooled beneath him, soaking the couch. Three bullet wounds. No. Four. King dropped beside him immediately. "No, no, no—stay with me" His hands pressed desperately against the wounds. "Trigger, look at me" Thomas gave a weak grin, blood staining his teeth. "Guess…guess the Russians finally got tired of my accent" he wheezed. "Shut up" Hemant’s voice cracked. "You’re fine. I’m calling extraction" "No point" "There is a point!" Thomas coughed violently, red staining his lips. "You pushed me back there" he whispered. Hemant froze. "You saved my life" "You’re not dying" Hemant snapped. But Thomas just looked at him quietly. A soldier already knowing the truth. "Mission’s gone to hell" Thomas whispered. "So don’t waste this" His breathing weakened. "Yosef needs to die!" King gripped his shoulder harder. "Thomas" "End Him!!!!" The silence afterward came suddenly. Cruelly. Thomas Livingston exhaled once—And never inhaled again. Hemant sat there motionless. His hands still pressed uselessly against wounds that no longer mattered. The room felt impossibly quiet. Outside, snow began to fall over Vladimir. Slowly. Softly. Like the world hadn’t just ended. Hemant lowered his head. And for the first time in years—He broke. His shoulders trembled as grief crashed into him like artillery. Rage followed right behind it, hot and unbearable. He had known Thomas for just a few missions , he had dragged Thomas through hell, promised they would make it out, and still failed. With shaking hands, he reached for the comms device. Static buzzed. Then command answered. "This is SENTINEL Actual. Report" Hemant stared at Thomas’s lifeless body for a long moment before speaking. His voice was hollow. "…Mission failed." Silence. Then: "Head Count Status?" King closed his eyes. Every word felt like broken glass. "SENTINEL operative Trigger KIA" The line went quiet. Across the room, Thomas’s pistol still rested where it had fallen. Unloaded. Spent. Just like the man who carried it. DAYS LATER AT HEREFORD Rain swept across the old stone grounds of Hereford like the sky itself had come to mourn. Black umbrellas stood like silent sentries around rows of coffins dbangd in faded regimental flags, each bearing the weight of men who had once laughed, fought, and bled beside one another. Hemant stood motionless before Thomas “Trigger” Livingston’s casket, his gloved hands clenched so tightly his knuckles had turned pale beneath the leather. Trigger’s photograph sat near the flowers—confident grin, sharp eyes, the kind of man who walked into hell and somehow made everyone believe they would walk back out. But Hemant knew better now. He had been there. The alley in Moscow. The gunfire. The betrayal. The mission to eliminate Yosef Tarasov had collapsed into chaos as if the enemy had known every move before it happened. Trigger had taken a bullet meant for him. Hemant still remembered the blood soaking through his hands as Trigger’s breathing weakened in the freezing snow. "This shouldn’t have happened" Hemant said quietly, voice cracking beneath the steady rhythm of rain. Beside him, Will stood staring at the line of graves prepared for his own men—three ex-SAS operators buried before their time after a covert operation near the Russian border went catastrophically wrong, tangled in the violence of the Russian Mafia and the growing shadow of the AZRAEL syndicate. Sharon stood silent, her grief buried beneath discipline, while Sachiko lowered her gaze toward the wet grass, saying nothing. A few paces away, Jackson Shephard removed his beret, his face unusually hollow for a man who had survived so much. Even he looked defeated. Will exhaled slowly, rain dripping from his jaw as he finally spoke. "It shouldn’t have" He said, voice cold with restrained anger. Hemant turned toward him, confused by the certainty in his tone. Will’s eyes hardened. "Because this wasn’t bad luck" He looked toward the gathering of SENTINEL officials standing under shelter, distant and untouched by the rain. "SENTINEL command is compromised" Hemant froze. For a moment, even the sound of the funeral faded behind the pounding in his ears. "Compromised?" he repeated. Will nodded grimly. "The UN pressured SENTINEL not to move against Tarasov. The typical political fallout. Usual diplomatic nonsense excuses. We were told to delay" His jaw tightened. "But someone higher up leaked movement details anyway. Tarasov knew we were coming. Trigger died because somebody wanted the Russian Mafia left untouched" Sharon looked away bitterly while Jackson muttered a curse beneath his breath. "The higher executives?" Hemant asked, disbelief warring with fury. "You think they’re involved?" Will looked toward Trigger’s coffin one final time. "I think SENTINEL’s running on borrowed time. The people who built it stood for doing the right thing. Somewhere along the line, power became more important than principle" Hemant felt something inside him fracture—not just grief, but faith itself. Hours later, back at headquarters, the silence felt colder than any battlefield. Hemant stood across from Will in the operations room, still carrying the weight of the funeral in his chest. "So what now?" he finally asked. Will didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he placed several thick books onto the table—Business Administration. Management Studies. Corporate Structures. Hemant stared at them in confusion. "What is this?" Will leaned against the desk, exhaustion etched into his face. "Improvisation" he said quietly. "If the higher-ups are compromised, we stop thinking like soldiers alone" His eyes sharpened. "SENTINEL was built to do what’s right. If it can’t anymore, we build something smarter. Better cover. Better influence. A different way to get justice" Then his gaze settled firmly on Hemant. "Your China operation. The deal with SunOnYee. It’s time you stop thinking like a SENTINEL operative and start thinking like the shadow bringing justice" Hemant said nothing at first. But as he looked down at the books, at the ashes of trust left behind by Trigger’s death, understanding slowly settled into place. He could no longer rely on SENTINEL. If justice was going to survive, it would have to come from somewhere else. And perhaps, somewhere in the shadows of the Triads and fractured loyalties, his future had already begun. OCTOBER 18 2004 , SHANGHAI, CHINA. The smell of soy, ginger, and cigarette smoke hung thick in the damp Shanghai evening as Vincent Ma pushed open the narrow alley gate toward the Shu Koi Restaurant at Shuangqiao Nancun. Usually, this walk was the highlight of his day. His mind wandered toward Min Ka—the sharp look in her eyes whenever she caught him flirting, the playful scoff she gave every terrible pickup line he tried. Vincent smirked to himself, rehearsing another stupid compliment about how even the city lights looked dull compared to her smile. But the second he turned the corner, every warm thought died in an instant. The restaurant looked like a battlefield waiting to erupt. Tables were overturned. Plates shattered across the floor. Customers had scattered into corners while terrified staff hid behind counters. In the middle of it all stood Min, cornered near the register as half a dozen men wearing the arrogance of the 18K Triad laughed around her like vultures. One thug gripped the counter with a smirk while another leaned too close to her face. "Sun On Yee can’t protect this place anymore" one sneered. "Maybe your boss should start paying tribute" Min shoved one away, fury burning through her fear, but the man only laughed harder. That was when Vincent stepped in. "Back off" Vincent barked, his voice cutting through the room like broken glass. Every eye turned toward him. One of the 18K men burst out laughing. "Look at this" he mocked. "Sun On Yee sends a boyfriend?" Vincent didn’t answer. He grabbed the thug by the collar and slammed him against a table hard enough to splinter wood. Chaos exploded instantly. Chairs crashed. Bottles shattered. Vincent fought like a cornered wolf, fists flying fast and vicious, but numbers were cruel. A chair cracked across his back. Another thug buried a punch into his ribs. Someone slammed him into the floor, boots crashing against his stomach. Blood ran from his lip as they circled him, laughing while Min screamed for them to stop. "You got guts" one thug sneered, grabbing Vincent by the jaw. "But tell me something…" He slammed a fist into Vincent’s face again. "Who the hell’s saving you now?" BOOM. The restaurant’s front door flew off its hinges. Silence swallowed the room. A man stepped through the wreckage like he owned gravity itself. Gone was the tactical armor of SENTINEL. No military plates. No combat rig. Instead, Hemant walked in wearing a black racing jacket with red streaks running down the sleeves, red-and-black cargo pants tucked into combat boots, his expression unreadable and cold enough to freeze blood. Rainwater dripped from his shoulders as he surveyed the damage, his eyes pausing on Vincent bleeding on the floor. Hemant sighed once. "I’m gonna say this exactly once" he said calmly, voice terrifyingly steady. "Get out of this restaurant" The 18K members exchanged looks before bursting into laughter. "Oh, look!" one mocked. "Another hero!" Two of them rushed him instantly, believing sheer numbers would overwhelm him. That mistake lasted less than three seconds. The first thug lunged—and caught a brutal spinning kick square to the face. Teeth scattered across the floor as he dropped like dead weight. The second barely raised his fists before Hemant shifted low, instinct taking over. Kalari moved through him like flowing violence—precise, savage, effortless. A sharp elbow shattered ribs. A sweep kick folded knees. A heel strike cracked into a jaw with horrifying force. Then the whole restaurant erupted. Bodies crashed into tables as Hemant moved like controlled destruction. One man swung a bottle—Hemant ducked, grabbed his wrist, twisted hard enough to dislocate it, and slammed his forehead into the counter. Another charged from behind only to eat a devastating sidekick into the chest that sent him flying through stacked chairs. Blood, broken wood, screams—it all blurred into motion. Vincent, coughing blood, grinned despite the pain. He dragged himself up and joined the fight. Now it became slaughter. Vincent smashed a chair across one thug while Hemant dismantled another with terrifying efficiency. Side by side, Sun On Yee stood unbreakable. Punches landed like thunder. Bones cracked. One by one, the confidence drained from the 18K soldiers until fear replaced arrogance. Within minutes, the restaurant floor looked like a graveyard of pride. ![]() "RUN!" someone yelled. And they did. The surviving thugs staggered out limping, bruised, bleeding, dragging their wounded behind them. Silence returned. Min rushed toward Vincent instantly, kneeling beside him. "Vinnie" Her hands trembled as she checked the cut on his face. "Are you okay?" Vincent laughed weakly, wiping blood from his mouth. "You checking on me?" he teased painfully. "Guess I almost dying worked" Min smacked his shoulder, eyes wet with frustration. "Idiot" From the doorway, Hemant shook his head. "You're flirting after getting your ass kicked?" he muttered. Vincent looked up, smiling wide despite everything. "Desperate times, desperate measures was your saying right Mr.King?" Among the Sun On Yee, everyone whispered the same title when speaking of Hemant—the man who fought like a storm and disappeared like a ghost. Mr. King. Later that night, beneath glowing neon and rain-slick Shanghai streets, Vincent and Hemant walked in silence toward the towering Golden Dragon Hotel far off from the district chaos. The city buzzed beneath them, unaware war was already brewing beneath its surface. Civil war among the Triads had begun. Inside the hotel, guards stepped aside immediately. The manager’s office doors opened. Behind a polished desk sat Jiu Mey, the feared Red Pole of Sun On Yee. Sharp-eyed, elegant, dangerous. She looked up—and smiled faintly. "Well" Mey said, leaning back in her chair. "If it isn’t our newest ghost" Her eyes gleamed. "Welcome back, Michael King" Hemant stopped mid-step. "…the What King?" Vincent immediately burst out laughing. Mey folded her arms. "Didn’t expect you in Shanghai this soon" "You can expect me more often now" Hemant replied dryly. "But who came up with that ridiculous name?" Mey smirked. "Father Dominic" Hemant blinked. "The priest from Macau?" he asked. "The same one" Mey replied. "Apparently after you saved him a few weeks ago, he referred the name Michael King" She paused. "Said he saw the Archangel Michael in you" Vincent nearly choked laughing. Hemant looked deeply uncomfortable. "I really don’t like theatrics" he muttered. Mey’s amusement and smirk faded slowly as her expression turned serious in her response. "It has its qualities....anyways tell me why you’re really here" The room grew quiet. Hemant stepped closer to the desk, eyes hardening with purpose. Outside, thunder rolled across Shanghai. "I’m here" he said coldly "To strengthen the Sun On Yee" His gaze sharpened. "To make us the prime faction of the Triads" A dangerous smile crossed his face. "And win this civil war" The office inside the Golden Dragon Hotel fell quiet after Hemant’s declaration. Rain tapped steadily against the windows overlooking Shanghai’s neon skyline while Jiu Mey leaned back in her chair, studying him with narrowed eyes. Vincent stood off to the side with folded arms, bruised but alert, watching the exchange like he already knew trouble was about to get bigger. "You want Sun On Yee to rise?" Mey asked evenly. "Then tell me something useful" Hemant stepped toward the city map stretched across the wall. Colored pins marked territory, businesses, gambling dens, safehouses, and routes running like veins through Shanghai. Several areas had been marked in red ink—territories where the 18K had grown unusually bold. "The 18k are taking the SunOnYee for granted , which explains their bold attacks because they know the shortage in your numbers. Your faction is struggling with recruits" Hemant said, tapping two fingers against the map. Mey crossed her arms. "That’s an understatement" "Which is why they are pushing in , because they know you don't have the manpower to tackle them!" Hemant continued. "Harassing restaurants. Leaning on local businesses. Making the city know who is actually in charge" His finger moved eastward across the map. "And worse—they’ve started reaching toward our strongholds. That means they think Sun On Yee’s getting weak" "Those bastards been acting like they own half the city" Vincent scoffed. "Because nobody’s hit back hard enough" Hemant nodded once. He pointed toward the transport route running between Tangzhen and Gaodongzhen. "This" Mey’s expression sharpened instantly. "The transport corridor?" she asked. Hemant nodded again. "It matters more than they realize. Its one of their prime routes for their ketamine racket movement. Whoever controls movement controls pressure. If Sun On Yee takes over this route, the 18K won’t just lose their drug route—they’ll understand something important" His voice lowered, steady and cold. "That we’re no pushovers!" "A message" Vincent grinned. "When they push , We shove!" Hemant replied. Mey walked toward the map, studying it in silence. Her sharp mind worked through the implications immediately. The route linked supply movement, local influence, and visibility. A victory there wouldn’t end tensions, but it would shift momentum. Then slowly—A smile crossed her face. "I like it" "That quick?" Vincent blinked. Mey shot him a look. "When the plan’s good, I don’t waste time pretending to think" She turned back toward Hemant. "You have my go-ahead" The next morning, Shanghai woke beneath a gray sky heavy with rainclouds. And the city felt different. Tension buzzed beneath the streets. At the Tangzhen Petrol Station, engines idled while nervous workers kept their heads down. Word had spread overnight—Sun On Yee was moving. Leading the operation was Ricky Tan, Mey’s most trusted lieutenant, a man whose calm face hid dangerous instincts. Beside him stood Vincent Mao, bruises from the restaurant still fresh but pride untouched. Around them gathered loyal Sun On Yee men, waiting. Ricky adjusted his gloves and looked toward Vincent. "You sure you’re ready?" he asked. Vincent cracked his neck with a grin. "I already got my ass kicked yesterday. Might as well make someone else miserable today" The laughter didn’t last. Because across the station, vehicles rolled in. 18K. The atmosphere shifted instantly. One side staring down the other. No speeches. No negotiations. Just old anger meeting fresh ambition. The first shove became chaos. What followed spread like wildfire through the route from Tangzhen toward Gaodongzhen. Rival crews clashed across intersections, warehouses, and roadside businesses as fear rippled through nearby streets. Loyalty was tested block by block while both sides fought desperately for presence and control. Ricky kept the Sun On Yee men organized through the pressure, while Vincent threw himself into every confrontation with reckless determination, refusing to give an inch after what happened at Shu Koi Restaurant. By late evening, exhaustion hung over the city like smoke. But the result had become impossible to ignore. Sun On Yee banners returned to places where 18K influence had crept in. Tangzhen held. Gaodongzhen held. The route belonged to Sun On Yee again. Back at the Golden Dragon Hotel, Mey stood near the office window overlooking the city lights when Hemant entered quietly. She looked over her shoulder. "You were right" she admitted. "They pushed too far" Hemant walked to the table and unfolded another map. "That was only step one" Mey raised an eyebrow. Without a word, Hemant placed his finger on their next objective. The eastern coastline. A place bigger than neighborhood turf. Bigger than street influence. His finger stopped over Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port. Mey’s expression shifted immediately. "Thats....a very bold move....the port is one of their prime base of operations!" she said carefully. Hemant’s gaze stayed fixed on the map. "Guess that's the price the 18k will have to pay for messing with the SunOnYee....the port will be the SunOnYee territory now...and the beginning of our faction's fishing business" He said quietly. His eyes lifted toward her. "And besides , its the perfect spot for Howard Tsao to run his operation of smuggling since he is almost compromised in Macau with his business. Shanghai is the perfect spot for him!" Mei grinned as the room fell silent again. THE NEXT NIGHT Night settled over Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port in layers of cold fog and industrial silence. Cargo cranes stood frozen against the skyline like giant steel skeletons, their shadows stretching over stacked containers and dimly lit warehouses. Inside the main storage building, a cluster of 18K men lounged around battered tables, cigarettes burning low while card games dragged into the early hours. A radio hummed softly in the background. Business had been quiet lately, and tonight felt no different. One thug leaned back in his chair and laughed. "Sun On Yee won’t touch this place" he scoffed. "Not after Tangzhen" Another raised his bottle. "They’re scared" Then the sound came. At first, distant. Low. Like thunder rolling in from the city. Engines. Too many of them. The laughter stopped. Outside, headlights burst through the fog. A convoy of black SUVs and trucks thundered toward the port entrance, tires screeching across wet pavement. Before anyone could fully react, the harbor erupted with another shock—boats cut through the dark waters, engines roaring as armed figures surged toward the docks from the sea. The port lights reflected across steel and rain. Sun On Yee had arrived. And they had come in force. "MOVE!" one 18K lookout screamed. Panic tore through the compound. Men scrambled for pistols, shouting over one another as warehouse doors slammed open. The first shots cracked through the night in desperate bursts. But desperation met preparation. The response came hard. Sun On Yee crews pushed forward in disciplined waves, forcing the 18K into retreat across loading zones and storage lanes. The sound of gunfire echoed violently across the harbor while shattered glass and sparks burst from metal containers. The 18K had expected intimidation. Instead, they found themselves overwhelmed. Positions collapsed quickly. Cover disappeared. Fear spread faster than orders. From the rear of the advancing convoy, one SUV door opened. Hemant stepped out. Gone was the casual calm of the restaurant fight. Tonight, he wore dark silk suit with its jacket having designs of the great Peng , a bird-like Guardian Deity in the Chinese foklore, rain collecting across his shoulders while chaos unfolded before him. He didn’t rush into the firefight. Didn’t shout commands. He simply watched. Measured. Cold. Focused. Beside him stood Ricky Tan, giving orders through comms while Vincent moved with brutal determination through the frontline, refusing to yield even a single step of ground. A nearby port security guard, pale and shaking, ducked into an office and frantically grabbed the emergency phone. "Shanghai Law Enforcement!" he yelled into the receiver. "There’s a war happening at the port!" But instead of emergency sirens—A familiar voice answered. Jiu Mey. "Get to cover officer , and stand down" she said calmly. The guard blinked in disbelief. "Stand down? People are shooting at each other!" Mey’s tone stayed frighteningly composed. "Sun On Yee is clearing out leeches from the city" Inside the Law Enforcement headquarters, several senior officials exchanged uneasy glances. One chief folded his arms. "Are you hurting civilians?" He asked. "No" Mey replied immediately. "This operation is against organized criminal activity surrounding the ketamine trade near the port. We want what’s best for Shanghai" Her voice hardened. "The city deserves better than poison moving through its harbor" The line went quiet. At Waigaoqiao, the fighting finally began to slow. The remaining 18K men broke ranks. Some fled deeper into the industrial maze. Others surrendered ground and vanished into the darkness. By dawn, the port stood silent except for distant sirens and the hum of cargo machinery restarting. Sun On Yee held the harbor. Hemant walked through the aftermath with steady steps, boots splashing through rainwater pooled across cracked pavement. Workers cautiously emerged from hiding as the first gray light of morning touched the shipping cranes. Beside him walked Howard Tsao, quiet and observant. Hemant stopped near the docks. "This place" he said, looking over the harbor. "Is your new duty now" Howard glanced toward him. "You’re putting me here?" Hemant nodded. "From now on, you handle the port" Howard looked genuinely surprised. "Shanghai's Fishing Trade gets rebuilt" Hemant continued. "No smuggling of drugs. No poison running through these docks. We make something useful out of this" Howard gave a slow nod. "I won’t waste the chance" Later that morning, inside the Golden Dragon Hotel, the atmosphere felt strangely calm. Television screens played endless news coverage of the violence at the harbor. Reporters stood in front of security officer barricades while headlines speculated about escalating tensions between rival organizations. Hemant sat near the window, coffee untouched. Vincent looked exhausted but pleased. Ricky remained quiet. Howard watched the screen thoughtfully. Then Jiu Mey’s phone rang. Her expression changed the moment she saw the caller. She answered. "Chairman" The room went still. An older voice carried through the speaker. Rey Shen. The aging chairman of the Triads. Measured. Powerful. "I’m calling a meeting" he said. "The civil war has gone too far" Mey listened quietly before ending the call. The silence afterward lingered. She looked toward Hemant. "Well" she said dryly. "This is the consequence for taking over Shanghai Port" "That old man’s definitely pissed" Vincent muttered. But Hemant looked entirely unbothered. "It’ll be alright" he said calmly. "Uncle Shen will see reason" Mey raised an eyebrow. "You sound very confident" Hemant leaned back in his chair, eyes drifting toward the city skyline beyond the glass. "This?" he said quietly. "This is only the beginning" His gaze sharpened. "The 18K pushed too far" A faint, dangerous calm settled over him. "And they’re going to lose a lot more before this ends" THE NEXT DAY The Golden Yang Hotel felt strangely quiet for a place standing at the center of a city spiraling into underground war. Midnight rain crawled down the glass windows overlooking Shanghai while Hemant sat near the lounge balcony with Vincent Mao, both waiting for news from the most important meeting of the year. Somewhere in the center of the city, inside Rey Shen’s towering headquarters, the senior figures of the Triads had gathered to decide what happened next after the chaos at Waigaoqiao Port. Vincent rested against the couch with an ice pack over his shoulder, still carrying bruises from the last week of fighting. "You think Uncle Shen’s gonna side with us?" he asked. Hemant remained still, arms crossed. "He’ll side with what keeps the city stable" he replied quietly. Vincent snorted. The silence stretched for a moment before Hemant’s phone vibrated. Not a normal notification. Encrypted. Instantly, his expression shifted. A secure message flashed across the screen. Meet at Ming’s Restaurant. Ten minutes. Alone. No sender. No signature. Only a verification cipher known to a handful of people. Hemant stood. "Problem?" Vincent frowned. "Nah , just a casual meet , I'll be back in few minutes!" Hemant replied calmly. The city felt colder outside. Shanghai’s streets gleamed beneath neon reflections as Hemant moved quickly through winding roads toward Ming’s Restaurant—a small, discreet place tucked away from the city’s louder nightlife. His instincts sharpened immediately. Every shadow mattered. Every parked car became something worth noticing. The restaurant looked nearly empty. Only one table remained occupied. And the moment Hemant saw the figure sitting there, he stopped cold. Civilian clothes. Dark jacket. Relaxed posture. But impossible to mistake. "William?" Hemant said quietly. The man looked up and smirked. "Been a while" William Irons. SENTINEL force partner. Brother in war. Hemant sat across from him slowly, disbelief still lingering. "What the hell are you doing here?" William stirred his tea casually. "Just wanna meet my best man in the field!" Hemant frowned. Will leaned back. "I’m in a CIA training program now" he explained. "Off the books. Low visibility" "Perfect spot" Hemant blinked. Will continued like he was discussing the weather. "Sharon Reagan entered Homeland Security in America. She’s building influence through finance and logistics" He paused. "Sachiko’s in the UK making a name for herself too" Hemant stayed silent. Will’s expression hardened. "SENTINEL might be compromised but we can fix it! in time!" He leaned forward. Hemant narrowed his eyes. "How?" "By gaining power over it!" Will replied. The statement hung in the air. "We rise" Will continued. "Slowly. Quietly. Different sectors. Politics. Security. Finance. Influence" His eyes locked onto Hemant’s. "And eventually, we take back SENTINEL from the inside" Hemant exhaled slowly. "A long-term play" "Not long if I consider your growth among the Triads. I'd say we'll achieve what we need way sooner than you expect!" Will folded his hands. "Which brings me to why I’m here" Hemant already disliked the look in his eyes. "You need to get involved with the Triads. Forget the SENTINEL uniform and act on your best capabilities in fixing Shanghai. This is the right path for you!" Will said simply. Hemant frowned. He slid a small file across the table. On the cover the name was highlighted—MICHAEL KING. Hemant stared at it. Will grinned faintly. "Oh, don’t look surprised. It has a nice ring to it!" Hemant sighed. "Father Dominic really started something stupid" "Or maybe he gave us something we needed" Will said. He opened the file. "I want you to build Michael King as the next possible ally to the Triads. One that replaces AZRAEL and brings a different kind of profit and business to them" Will tapped several documents. Hemant raised an eyebrow. AZRAEL has been bothering him since Ladakh , to realize there is a cold blooded syndicate that trades human flesh as business. Plus his hatred for its creator Tarasov was much more since Trigger's death. Will leaned back again. "We’ll help build Michael King’s legacy. Sachiko and I have already have some plans to build the outside connection of Michael King. For now , you're a mysterious rich figure who has taken over operations of Triad assets in Macau , you have a backing of some small gangs that form a larger empire that acts as your muscle!" He paused. Hemant almost laughed. "You’re proposing I become some underground kingpin?" "No , not underground. I want you to become someone that the bad buys will be forced to second guess. You're a warrior Mr.King , I stated it before that you have the qualities of a leader, now its your time to become one , this world needs your kind of justice!" Hemant rubbed his forehead. "How exactly am I supposed to get the Triads interested after we just disrupted a major racket?" Will smiled. "You build a new trade, something that will not involve harmful items. The best option right now is Gold. Triads have shown interest in it and there are shareholders willing to invest in their ranks. You boost the smuggling business of this gold and soon it will become a high value trade for the Triads. It also has the potential and the opening for you to dismantle the connection between the Triads and AZRAEL!" He lowered his voice. "A cleaner, higher-value trade" Hemant looked unconvinced. Will continued. "Sachika and I will build your outreach and your legend in the UK. Setting up potential contacts and support in the UK that will participate in your Gold trading. You can use the same AZRAEL network since their handlers and route guides are taken care of , everything overseen by you!" He tapped the file again. Hemant leaned back heavily. Will’s expression softened slightly. Hemant looked up. Will continued carefully. "Its time you embrace this new identity Mr.King. This new life will unleash the warrior within you and boost that tactical brain of yours. You will have your gloves off and become the man of your word , no one to authorize you. I am saying this because I have faith that you will do what is right. Because if you turned evil , I will loose faith in this world!" He gestured around them. "That is a lot of faith Will" "You have that quality Hemant , now I actually believe what Mr.Bakshi told me once , the perfect warrior , that is you. Its not long before the Triad will become your personal armada!" Will replied immediately. His voice steadied. He pointed toward Hemant. "All this time , I was looking for the perfect weapon to end AZRAEL. Turns out that weapon was someone not something!" He paused. "Your gloves are off now big man....its time to show who you are truly made of!" For the first time that night, Hemant had no answer. Only doubt. Only weight. And the terrifying realization that maybe this path had already begun. When Hemant finally returned to the Golden Yang Hotel, dawn had started creeping over the skyline. Jiu Mey had returned. Ricky Tan stood nearby with crossed arms while Howard Tsao quietly poured tea. Vincent looked up immediately. "There he is, tha savior of SunOnYee" Vincent said. Hemant ignored the joke. "How’d the meeting go?" Jiu exhaled slowly. "Better than expected" She leaned back. "Honestly? I’m relieved" Hemant raised an eyebrow. "Uncle Shen sided with us" That got everyone’s attention. "The port officially belongs to Sun On Yee now" Jiu stated "Seriously?" Howard blinked. She nodded. "We’re responsible for the Triad operations there moving forward" Hemant looked toward Howard. "Good" He gave a small nod. "You can start rebuilding tomorrow" But Jiu’s expression turned thoughtful. "Actually…..I had a different plan!" she said slowly. Hemant froze slightly. "What is it?" Jiu walked toward the table. "Howard used to have a fishing company" she explained. "Small-scale. Useful for transport" "Mostly dead at this point" Howard gave a shrug. "Not anymore" Jiu replied. She placed a folder onto the table. "We boost it" Vincent leaned closer. "I was thinking we revive the shut down shipping business of the Triads and takeover Howard's fishing company and integrate it together to form a big Shipping Company for the private sector. A company run by you! Howard will be your VP!" She tapped the folder. THE GREAT PENG SHIPPING PVT LTD Chairman/CEO: Michael King The room went quiet. Hemant stared at the name for a long moment. One identity fading. Another beginning. He took a slow breath. Then another. Outside, Shanghai awakened beneath gray skies. Inside, Hemant prepared himself for the next chapter of his life. SIX MONTHS LATER
Six months changed everything. Shanghai no longer whispered the name Michael King—it spoke it with weight. Hemant had buried himself completely into the life of the Great Peng Shipping Company, working through sleepless nights at docks, corporate meetings, financial negotiations, and quiet backroom conversations where influence mattered more than intimidation. At first, the Triads viewed Michael King as useful. Then valuable. Eventually, indispensable. Jiu Mey personally brought him before Uncle Rey Shen on several occasions, and what began as cautious introductions evolved into long conversations over tea and strategy. Rey found something unusual in Michael: discipline. Patience. Vision. Unlike many ambitious men clawing for power, Michael never seemed desperate for it. That alone made him trustworthy. The Great Peng Shipping Company exploded across East Asia with startling speed. Shipping routes expanded aggressively, turning a once-forgotten operation into a thriving logistics empire. Cargo moved cleaner, faster, and more efficiently than competitors. Ports in Southeast Asia began recognizing the company name. Through William’s quiet coordination and Sachiko’s rising influence abroad, Michael opened channels into the United Kingdom and the United States. Investors appeared. Partnerships formed. Soon, Great Peng wasn’t merely surviving—it was thriving internationally. And somewhere during those six months, Hemant discovered something dangerous: He was good at this. Michael King became a negotiator feared and respected in equal measure. He sat across tables from men whose reputations alone unsettled governments and walked out with agreements none thought possible. His biggest triumph came when he brokered a new relationship between the Triads and the Russian Bratva—an arrangement profitable enough to shift influence across criminal and business networks alike. The move enraged the Tarasov crime family, who viewed the deal as an insult to their standing, but Michael remained unfazed. The Triads noticed who delivered results. Gradually, AZRAEL’s influence faded as Michael became the preferred business intermediary. Meanwhile, Sun On Yee transformed Shanghai. The 18K had suffered repeated setbacks after losing control of transport routes and the Waigaoqiao Port. District after district slowly shifted toward Sun On Yee influence until they stood dominant over much of the city’s underworld. Rey Shen openly favored Jiu Mey’s methods—strategic, calculated, profitable. That preference burned through the leadership of the 18K like acid, planting bitterness that would not disappear quietly. Through all of it, Michael found an unexpected kind of family. Vincent Ma remained loud, reckless, and impossible to hate. Howard Tsao became dependable, almost annoyingly practical whenever business decisions grew complicated. New recruits Sam Lin and Conroy Wu brought fresh energy to the crew, eager to prove themselves. Above them stood Ricky Tan, still leading like an older brother who would gladly bleed for every man under him. Somewhere between dangerous operations, late-night meals, and impossible situations, bonds formed stronger than anyone expected. And Michael King? He became the crown jewel of Sun On Yee. Rey Shen entrusted him not only with Great Peng Shipping but also with the Triad’s legitimate business empire, including Fenghuang Energy Corporation and SilkRoute Dynamics Tech Firm. Surprisingly, Hemant found himself comfortable in those worlds. Technology discussions, engineering logistics, systems planning—it all felt familiar. Natural. He often remembered his college friend Tamanna during those moments, silently thankful that she had once fought to keep his education from falling apart. For the first time in years, parts of his old self felt useful again. Success changed his surroundings too. A luxurious villa in Shanghai’s wealthy outskirts became his new home—a sprawling property among celebrities, industrialists, and old-money elites. Lavish galas replaced battlefield briefings. Michael King became a recognizable presence at business events, exclusive dinners, and expensive parties where politicians and tycoons quietly competed for influence. Respect followed him everywhere. People admired his intelligence, his calm demeanor, his reputation for fixing impossible problems. In whispered conversations, many called him the backbone of the modern Triads. Yet some nights, the mask slipped. One evening, Howard, Ricky, and Conroy dragged him into an upscale private club after closing a successful business deal. Music thundered through dim halls while wealthy patrons disappeared behind velvet curtains for private entertainment. Michael tried to enjoy the evening, tried to laugh along with Vincent’s terrible jokes and Conroy’s endless teasing. Then, during a private dance arranged more as celebration than temptation—A memory struck him. Dusty Rajasthan heat. The sound of rotor blades. NAL Air Base. And her face. Kirti. The woman he had quietly admired back when he served as a GARUDA commando and later joined SENTINEL. Her smile. The way she laughed. The strange calm she brought to his chaotic life. Suddenly, the club felt unbearable. Michael stood up without explanation and walked out. That night, alone in his villa overlooking Shanghai’s distant skyline, Hemant lay awake staring at the ceiling. Six months. Six months since he had spoken to Dan. Six months since hearing Flight Engineer Rani complain about flight hardwares. Six months since feeling like a soldier instead of… whatever Michael King had become. He wondered how Rajasthan looked now. Whether the base had changed. Whether Kirti still remembered him. Or if life had simply moved on. By sunrise, the decision had already settled into his bones. He would go back. Just for a little while. See what had changed.Reconnect with the people he left behind. And maybe—Just maybe—See his favorite woman one more time. APRIL 5TH 2005 NAL AIR BASE The Rajasthan sun bore down on Hemant's shoulders as he walked through the gates of Nal Air Base, the familiar crunch of gravel beneath his boots triggering memories he thought he'd buried. Six Months. That's all it had been since Shanghai, since the port seizure that left his hands bloodied and his conscience fractured. Yet standing here, watching young recruits march in perfect formation across the parade grounds, it felt like lifetimes ago. The Garuda Force had transformed since his departure. Where once they scrambled for manpower, now recruits lined up in crisp uniforms, their faces eager and unmarked by the horrors Hemant had witnessed. SENTINEL's corruption had forced him into a new world in Shanghai, but here, in this pocket of order, the machine ran smoothly. Too smoothly, he thought. As if the rot hadn't reached this far. "Hemant!" He turned to see Dan striding toward him, the commander's insignia gleaming on his chest. They'd served together for barely few months before Hemant's descent into the underworld of espionage, but the bond they shared was close to brotherhood. "Been what, five months? You look like absolute hell." Dan clasped his shoulder, grip firm and warm. "Rough doesn't cover it." Hemant's voice came out rougher than intended. "SENTINEL is compromised from the top. I was sent for a deep cover espionage stuff. My team and I—we're planning something different. Swift. Surgical." Dan nodded slowly, respect flickering in his eyes. "If anyone can clean that mess, it's you. Always been the stubborn one." Hemant allowed himself a faint smile. "How is everyone? The base seems.....different" "Thanks to new recruitment, yes. Rani's got engineers lining up to help her squad. And Avinash—" Dan's expression shifted to something like pride. "That kid has really stepped up. Remember how green he was in Congo? Not anymore. Whatever you said to him stuck." Congo. The mission that had nearly broken them all. Hemant pushed the memory aside. "And Kirti?" Dan's grin returned, wider this time, carrying that knowing edge Hemant had grown to despise. "Still smitten, huh? Even after she turned you down?" "My infatuation isn't the point. Where is she?" "She is the Top ace now. Her last sortie up north had three confirmed kills. Outdid even Vishal's record" Dan's voice carried genuine admiration. "She's something else in the cockpit." Pride surged through Hemant unexpectedly. Of course she is. Kirti had always been fire and steel, refusing to let anyone define her limits. "Where is she now?" Dan's expression flickered—something guarded slipping through. "Gone with Vishal and some cadets. Camping trip at the national park. You remember the spot?" The green oasis amid Rajasthan's scorched landscape. Hemant remembered. The cadets had gone there after Congo, seeking solace from trauma in shade and stillness. Only heard about it but never seen by him "She's still with him, then." The question hung between them. Dan shifted his weight. "Maybe that's for the best, Hemant. Rani said it before—Kirti and Vishal make sense. Influential backgrounds. Compatible lives" He held up a hand before Hemant could interrupt. "I'm not saying you're not worthy. Just that—" "I'm not from their world." Henant finished his sentence. Hemant laughed, the sound hollow and sharp. "Funny. Past few months, I've evolved and grown to play with power dynamics and authority. And yet still , I am not worthy somehow!" "Well that is the point" Dan agreed quietly. "Despite a pilot , she is in the ground and here. You on the other hand is spanning the globe with duties purpose far beyond human comprehension" "Yeah , wanna know some of those purposes?" Hemant clasped his former partner's arm. "Come by my place later. I'll let you know some crispy details. We'll talk properly." He left before Dan could respond, the base's familiarity pressing against his chest like a weight he couldn't shrug. The villa was silent when he arrived. Hemant dropped into the easy chair on his terrace, the afternoon heat pressing against his skin as exhaustion claimed him. His mind drifted, unbidden, to places he didn't want to go. Green. That's what he imagined first. Lush grass and towering trees, water glinting under sunlight—the national park where Kirti now walked. He'd never seen it, but his mind constructed it anyway, building fantasy from fragments. He saw cadets scattered across the landscape, laughing, splashing in crystalline water. Then his imagination pulled him deeper, into the treeline where shadows gathered thick. Kirti stood against an ancient banyan, her shorts unbuttoned and discarded. Vishal pressed against her, their mouths locked together in a kiss that made Hemant's stomach clench. She moaned into him, fingers raking through his hair. "Ahh...Been waiting for this!!" She breathed, shoving her jacket off her shoulders. Her tank top clung to curves Hemant had memorized in weaker moments. Vishal stripped with practiced ease, lean muscles shifting beneath skin—physique Hemant remembered from training drills years ago. When had he become someone worth wanting? In his mind, they stood bare under the canopy. Vishal laid Kirti on the grass, her back arching as he positioned himself between her thighs. Hemant's imagination supplied details he'd never witnessed—the glistening evidence of her arousal, the way her hips lifted in invitation. "I really missed your poundings" she gasped. "Missed this tight pussy" Vishal pushed inside her, and Kirti's cry echoed through the trees. They moved together with familiar rhythm—bodies that knew each other completely. Hemant watched from the void of his own making, invisible and aching. "mhmm...It feels good to be buried by a powerful man" Kirti moaned, her nails leaving red trails down Vishal's back. "Ahh...That's why I turned down that loser.....ahhh" "hghhh...ngghh...All show....bggghh....Nothing specialabout him huh?" Vishal's thrusts intensified, hips snapping forward with brutal precision. "Ahh....He is just an insecure bitch beneath all that show piece muscles!" She wrapped her legs tighter around Vishal's waist. "You're everything he isn't....nggghh...aahhhh!" The words weren't real—Hemant knew this. His mind had constructed them from his deepest insecurities, giving voice to fears that haunted his darkest hours. Yet they cut deeper than any blade. Vishal drove into her relentlessly, their bodies slapping together with wet urgency. Kirti's moans climbed higher, building toward release. "Ahh...ahhh...ahh....Take me there...ahhh..." she begged. "Ahhh....Take me there.....Where he never could....ahh....ahhhh" They shattered together—Vishal groaning, Kirti screaming his name as pleasure consumed them both. The vision dissolved. Hemant jolted upright in his chair, sweat soaking through his shirt. His hands trembled as he pressed them against his eyes. Ghosts. Just ghosts. He couldn't afford these distractions. He already has enough situations to handle in his life , so he should not focus on these things too much. Dan arrived that evening as promised, and they sat on Hemant's terrace watching the sun bleed orange across the horizon. Tea steamed between them, and Hemant found himself recounting stories he'd held close to his chest for weeks—those final dangerous missions he did with SENTINEL, the infiltration of the Triads, his partnership with SunOnYee, the delicate dance of playing a shipping magnate while plotting revolution. "The port seizure was a testament of my position among them" Hemant explained, turning his cup in his hands. "And now I am an important executive , the backbone of their business. Was surprised to find actual good humans who want to do good in their nasty world!" Dan listened with rapt attention, his commander's insignia catching the dying light. "And this Sifu Kwok? The Shaolin master?" "Ricky Tan introduced us. Uncle Sifu got a liking towards me since he noticed my Kalari skills. Old man was very knowledgable , understands the deep rooted connection between the two art forms!" Hemant chuckled, the sound genuine. "Spent weeks learning Kung Fu forms. He insinuated my warrior spirit. Balance and control—that's what he emphasized." They talked until dinner, the conversation flowing easily between war stories and comfortable silences. After Dan left for the base, Hemant slept dreamlessly, his mind finally granting him the rest he desperately needed. The nightmare didn't haunt him. (CHAPTER TO BE CONTD)

(CHAPTER CONTD)
Hemant woke the next morning with a surprising clarity in his mind, the phantom images of Kirti and Vishal already fading like morning mist under the Rajasthan sun. He stretched in his bed, muscles still tight from yesterday's travel, but his spirit felt lighter than it had in months. One week. That's all he had before Shanghai called him back, before his Triad business demanded his attention and the Triad empire required his careful dismantling.
He made peace with it. Morning found him in his backyard, sweat slicking his bare chest as he moved through Kalari forms he'd practiced since childhood. His custom shooting gallery stood at the far end—but today his body craved the ancient discipline more than trigger time. Each strike flowed into the next, his balance perfect, his breathing controlled. Sifu Kwok's teachings merged seamlessly with what he'd known before. He trained until noon, ate a sparse lunch, then settled in his living room with the energy company's new proposals and Tech firm upgrades spread across the coffee table. Paperwork. The tedious reality of running a legitimate business front for criminal enterprises. His eyes scanned columns of chemical descriptions and material quantities, his mind only half-engaged. The sound of an engine shattered his focus. Hemant set down his pen and walked to the doorway, frowning at the dust cloud approaching his villa. A motorcycle materialized from the haze—a Hero Honda Splendor, the 2004 model he recognized instantly. His breath caught when the rider removed her helmet. Kirti. She dismounted with sharp, angry movements, her Air Force uniform crisp despite the ride. Her boots hit the gravel path with purpose as she stormed toward his door, fire blazing in her eyes. ![]() "You stupid bastard." The words hit him like a slap. Hemant blinked, momentarily speechless. "You've been avoiding me" She stopped inches from him, jabbing a finger at his chest. "Keeping your distance like I'm a stranger. You think I'm with Vishal now, don't you?" "I believe what I see" His voice came out harder than intended. "Besides you turned me down. You've made it obvious!" "I turned you down because you talked to my father before talking to me!" Her voice cracked with frustration. The accusation hung between them. Hemant's mind raced, recalibrating everything he thought he knew. "You went to my father" she continued, her voice trembling. "Asked for permission like I was property to be transferred. Do you know how that felt? Like my choice didn't matter. Like I wasn't even worth asking directly" "I thought—" He stopped, the words dying in his throat. "You thought wrong" Kirti's eyes glistened, but her chin stayed lifted. "And then you disappeared. Vanished into your international spec ops and shadow wars without a single word to me" "Why does it matter now? You have Vishal now!" Hemant's control slipped. "Spreading your legs for him while I—" The crack of her palm across his cheek echoed through the doorway. Kirti's chest heaved, tears threatening at the corners of her eyes. "Vishal is already betrothed you idiot. His family arranged it years ago—to his childhood sweetheart from a neighboring province. He's been clear about that from the start" "Then why—" Hemant touched his stinging cheek. "The camping trip. The whispers. Everyone said—" "Everyone assumed." Her voice dropped to something raw and wounded. "I've been strugglin. Struggling because the man I love vanished into the world of criminals and black ops without looking back" The words registered slowly. "What did you just say?" Kirti's anger deflated, replaced by something vulnerable and terrified. She swallowed hard. "I said I love you. You idiot" Hemant went pale, not knowing how to react, caught in a trance "From the moment you spoke to my father about marriage" A tear escaped, tracing a path down her cheek. "A man who values family enough to seek blessing before pursuit—who honors tradition while fighting for what's right—I've been yours since then. I just couldn't forgive you for not asking me first" Hemant didn't respond with words. His hand found her waist, pulling her flush against him as his mouth claimed hers. Kirti froze for a heartbeat—two—then melted into him with a desperate sound. Her fingers raked up his sides, slipping beneath his tank top to trace the hard planes of his abdomen. The kiss deepened, tasting of desperation and longing. Her uniform scbangd against his bare skin as she tugged the tank top over his head, their mouths separating only long enough to discard the fabric. He explored her face with his lips—the curve of her jaw, the sensitive spot beneath her ear—drawing soft moans that made his blood sing. ![]() "Inside" he murmured against her throat. She nodded, and he walked her backward through the doorway, his hands working carefully at her uniform buttons. Each piece of fabric that fell away revealed more of the body he'd only imagined—lean muscle and soft curves, fire and steel exactly as he'd envisioned. They reached the bedroom, and he gave her space. Kirti finished undressing with quick, efficient movements while he shed his remaining clothes. ![]() Then they stood before each other, bare and vulnerable, years of want reflected in each other's eyes. Hemant pulled her onto the bed, wrapping them both in sheets as he settled above her. Their foreheads touched, breath mingling in the small space between them. "I've been waiting months for this!!!" she whispered. He reached down, positioning himself at her entrance. Kirti whimpered as he pushed forward, her body resisting before gradually yielding. She was impossibly tight—velvet heat gripping him inch by inch until he filled her completely. "Aaahhhhhh!" They stayed like that, frozen in the overwhelming intimacy of connection. Her walls pulsed around him, adjusting to his size. Then he began to move. His initial strokes were tender, reverent—worshipping her body with the gentleness he'd dreamed of for years. Kirti's hands traced his shoulders, marveling at how such a powerful man could touch her so softly. "Ahh....Hemant...ahhh...this feels...ahhh...so good...aahhhh" She moaned his name like a prayer. Something shifted in him. The tenderness gave way to hunger—months of wanting rising to the surface. His pace quickened, hips driving forward with increasing force. The sound of skin meeting skin filled the room, punctuated by her rising cries. thhupp....thhhuuupp.....thhuupp.... "Ahhh yess....harder....ahhh...harder....yesssss" she begged. "YEsss...yesss....FUCKING DESTROY ME!!! AHH!!!" He obeyed. The bed creaked beneath them as he pounded into her, her nails carving red lines down his back. Kirti wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him deeper with each thrust. "I'm close.....I'm...Ahhhh....ahhh..." she gasped. Hemant released his restraint. His final strokes were relentless, driving her over the edge with a scream that echoed off the walls. Her body clenched around him—death grip tight—and he followed her into oblivion with a groan. thhuuupp..........thuuuuppp..........thuuppp "AHHHH HEMANT AAHHHH!!!" "RRGGHHHH.......HGGGHHHH!" Spurt after spurt of warmth filled her as he collapsed beside her, both gasping for breath. He brushed sweat-dampened hair from her face, drinking in her satisfied expression. "I love you" he breathed. Kirti smiled, radiant and real. "I love you too" They lay tangled together, healing in each other's arms. Sweat cooled on their tangled bodies as the ceiling fan whirred overhead, its lazy rotation pushing warm air across their bare skin. Hemant traced absent patterns on Kirti's shoulder, feeling the steady rhythm of her breathing against his chest. Neither spoke. The silence held weight—months of misunderstanding and suppressed longing finally given room to breathe. Kirti shifted first. Her leg dragged across his thigh, deliberate and slow. She tilted her head up, chin resting on his sternum, meeting his eyes with an expression caught between satisfaction and hunger. The fire hadn't extinguished. It banked itself, waiting for fuel. "Lets do it....again!" she murmured. Hemant's hand found the curve of her hip, fingers pressing into the firm muscle beneath soft skin. "You're incredible" "I can say the same about you" Her lips brushed his collarbone. "Plus....I think I am already addicted to you!" He answered by pulling her mouth to his. The kiss started tender—relearning the territory he'd only just claimed—but Kirti deepened it immediately. Her tongue swept past his lips, hungry and demanding. She pressed her body flush against his side, and he felt her nipples harden against his ribs. His hand slid from her hip to her breast, palming the supple flesh. Kirti gasped into his mouth when his thumb circled her nipple, the bud tightening under his touch. He broke the kiss to trail his lips down her throat, tasting salt and warmth, following the column of her neck to the hollow beneath her ear. "Your body" he breathed against her skin. "Its amazing!!!" "Really?" Her fingers tangled in his hair, guiding him lower. "Then show me how amazing I am!!!!" Hemant obeyed the pressure. His mouth traveled down, tracing the plane of her chest until his lips found her breast. He drew her nipple in, tongue swirling around the tight peak, and Kirti's back arched off the bed. A sharp moan tore from her throat. "Mhhmmm....you have some skills my beautiful man!!!" He lavished attention on her, alternating between gentle sucking and firm strokes of his tongue. His hand attended to her other breast, rolling and pinching the neglected nipple. Kirti's breath came faster, her hips rolling against nothing, seeking friction that wasn't there yet. "mhhmm....okay enough." She pushed at his shoulder, urging him onto his back. "Let me show you how amazing you are!!!" Hemant complied, settling against the pillows as Kirti rose above him. The afternoon light filtered through the curtains, casting golden stripes across her lean figure. He drank in the sight—the defined muscles of her abdomen, the swell of her breasts still glistening from his attention, the wild tangle of her hair falling past her shoulders. She straddled his thighs, her wet heat pressing against his leg. Her hand wrapped around his length, already stirring back to life. The touch was electric. Her grip was firm, strokes measured and deliberate. "Get used to this Lover!!!" she said, working him slowly. "From now on.....we will be doing this a lot!!!" "Kirti—" "Shh" She squeezed the base of his cock, making him groan. "Enjoy the moment Hemant....enjoy this!" He surrendered to her rhythm. Her hand moved with practiced efficiency, twisting on the upstroke, thumb circling the sensitive head. Blood rushed downward, filling him under her touch. She watched his face as she worked him, studying every flicker of pleasure. "You like when I do this?" she observed. He was. The pressure built at the base of his spine, tightening with each stroke. But Kirti must have felt it too, because she released him before he could reach the edge. He growled in frustration, and she laughed—bright and genuine. "Or...when I do..." She positioned herself above him, guiding his length to her entrance. The tip pressed against her slick folds, parting them. Hemant's hands flew to her hips, steadying her as she sank down. "Ttthhhisssssss!!!" The descent was excruciating. Inch by inch, she took him in, her walls stretching to accommodate his girth. Her breath caught, held, then released in a shuddering moan when she finally bottomed out, her clit pressed flush against his pelvis. "OHHHH Wow.....its better than the first time!!!!" she whispered. "I feel all of you Hemant.....you feel so good!!!!" Hemant couldn't form words. The sensation overwhelmed him—tight heat gripping him completely, the visual of her poised above him like a goddess of war and desire. His fingers dug into her hips, fighting the urge to thrust. Kirti began to move. She started slow, rolling her hips in deep circles that dragged him against every sensitive spot inside her. Her head fell back, exposing the elegant line of her throat. Each movement drew a soft sound from her lips—gasps and sighs that made Hemant's blood sing. "Faster" he managed. "Be Patient Lover!!" She leaned forward, changing the angle. "This is a special moment for us....every feeling....every movement matters...plus this time I am in control!" The shift in position pressed her clit against him with each rotation. Her movements grew jerkier, less controlled. Hemant watched a bead of sweat trace down her sternum, disappearing between her breasts. He couldn't stay passive. His hand found her breast, kneading the flesh as she rode him. His other hand slid between them, thumb locating the swollen bud at her apex. He pressed down in time with her rhythm. "Ohhhh yes Hemant.....they're all yours now....use them!!" Kirti's moan broke high and desperate. "YESS....Pinch them.....maul them........Ahhhh!" She picked up speed. The lazy circles gave way to urgent bouncing, her thighs flexing as she drove herself onto him again and again. The sound of their bodies meeting filled the room—wet, obscene, perfect. "Ahh.....Hemant—say my name—Ahhh" "Ugghh....Kirti—" "Ahh...Not that.....my other name....ahh...ahh!!!!" She shook her head, breathless. He blinked, fogged with pleasure. "Kira?" "Yessss. That. Yessss....Say it again" A shudder ran through her. "Arrghhh....ugghhh....Kira....uggghh" The name rolled off his tongue, syllables stretching with his mounting release. "Kira—You feel so good!!!" She keened, riding him harder. Her walls clenched around him rhythmically, gripping him like a velvet vice. He thrust up to meet her, unable to hold back, their bodies slamming together with desperate urgency. "Kira—I'm going to—" "Good....cum in your woman lover!!!!" She grabbed his wrists, pinning them above his head as she bounced faster. "Cum in me......mark me again as your own!!!!!" The permission shattered him. Hemant exploded with a roar, her callsign tearing from his throat as pulse after pulse of heat flooded her depths. His hips jerked upward, burying himself to the hilt as he spent himself completely. "UHGGHH....KIRA......MY KIRA......OHHHH......ARRRGGHHHH!!" Kirti followed him over the edge. Her entire body seized, walls clamping down as her orgasm ripped through her. She collapsed forward, chest pressed against his, tremors shaking her frame as aftershocks rolled through her body. "OHHH YESSS HEMANT!!!! YOU'VE CLAIMED ME AGAIN!!!! AHHH!!" They lay tangled together, breath ragged and hearts pounding in tandem. Hemant's arms wrapped around her back, holding her close as the trembling subsided. Her face pressed into his neck, lips brushing his pulse point. "Kira" he murmured into her hair. She hummed, satisfied. "I love it when you call me that." "I'll never stop calling you that from now on" The afternoon sun crept across the floor as they held each other, the world outside forgotten. No Triads, no SENTINEL, no shadow wars. Just two bodies, finally where they belonged. Kirti's breathing slowed into sleep. Hemant stayed awake a while longer, watching dust motes drift through golden light, memorizing the weight of her in his arms. Golden light slanted through the curtains when Hemant's eyes snapped open. A wet heat surrounded his cock, urgent and insistent. He gasped, hips jerking upward on instinct, and looked down to find Kirti's head bobbing beneath the sheet. "Kira—" The sound of her callsign made her hum around him. The vibration shot straight to his spine. Her lips stretched tight around his girth, cheeks hollowing as she pulled back to tongue the sensitive head. One hand gripped the base of his shaft while the other pressed firmly against his hip, holding him in place. He'd been dreaming of something innocent—the training grounds at Nal, maybe, or the port in Shanghai. The contrast between those mundane images and the wet paradise currently consuming him made his head spin. "You—" He swallowed hard. "You're trying to kill me." Kirti pulled off with an obscene pop, saliva connecting her swollen lips to his twitching length. Her eyes glittered with mischief in the amber afternoon light. "You slept through the whole afternoon" Her hand continued stroking him, slow and deliberate. "I got bored" "How long—" "Long enough" She ducked back down, taking him deep. Her throat relaxed as she swallowed, and Hemant's words died in a strangled groan. His hands found her hair without conscious thought. Not pushing—never pushing—but anchoring himself as sensation overwhelmed reason. She worked him with expertise, varying her rhythm between long, slow slides and rapid flicks of her tongue. Each time he neared the edge, she sensed it, backing off just enough to keep him dangling. "Kira." His voice came out wrecked. "Please." She hummed again, and this time she didn't stop. Her head bobbed faster, hand twisting in counterpoint to her mouth. Pressure built at the base of his spine, coiling tighter with each passing second. "Going to—" Kirti pulled back abruptly. He nearly sobbed at the loss. "Not like that." She crawled up his body, pressing kisses along his chest, his collarbone, his throat. "I want you inside me...wanna feel you fill me again!" Hemant didn't need further invitation. He flipped her with a sudden motion that made her squeak in surprise. Her back hit the mattress, slender frame splayed beneath him like an offering. The evening light painted her skin in shades of copper and gold, highlighting the lean muscles of her stomach and the swell of her breasts. "Beautiful" he murmured. "My Kira" She reached for him, arms wrapping around his neck. "Less talking. More fucking." He laughed—a full, genuine sound that felt foreign after months of shadows—and positioned himself between her thighs. She was already wet, her arousal slicking her folds and coating her inner thighs. The tip of his cock pressed against her entrance, and they both shuddered at the contact. He pushed forward in one smooth thrust. Kirti's back arched off the bed, a cry tearing from her throat. She was impossibly tight—always tight—but the angle let him sink deeper than before. Her walls fluttered around him, adjusting to his invasion. "Hemant—" Her nails raked down his back. "Ahhh...Move...darling....Ahhhh..." He pulled back until only the head remained inside, then snapped his hips forward. The sound of their bodies meeting echoed through the room—wet, obscene, perfect. Kirti's moans climbed higher with each thrust, her legs wrapping around his waist to pull him closer. "Godd YESS....AHHH.....FUCK ME....AHH!!" The position gave him perfect control. He braced himself on his forearms, caging her slim body beneath his as he set a punishing rhythm. Each stroke drove her further into the mattress, her breasts bouncing with the force of his movements. "Ahh...Harder Lover...Ahh.." Her voice came out strangled. "Mhmm....I can take it....." He obeyed. His hips pistoned faster, the bed frame groaning in protest. Sweat dripped from his forehead onto her chest, mingling with the sheen already coating her skin. The angle put constant pressure on her clit, and he felt her thighs begin to tremble. "Close—so close—Ahhh....keep pistoning me.......ahhh yess!!! I AM HERE!!! AHHHHHHH!" Hemant reached between them, thumb finding the swollen bud. He circled it in time with his thrusts, and Kirti shattered. "AHHH FUCK YEAH HEMANT FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!!!!" Her scream bounced off the walls as her orgasm crashed through her. Her walls clamped down, gripping him like a vice as wave after wave of pleasure wracked her frame. The sight of her undone—head thrown back, mouth open, eyes screwed shut—pushed Hemant over the edge behind her. "Kira—ARRRGGGHHHH" ![]() He buried himself to the hilt and released. Hot spurts filled her as he ground his hips in tight circles, milking every drop of pleasure from both of them. Her legs tightened around his waist, holding him deep as her own aftershocks slowly faded. They collapsed together, a tangle of sweat-slicked limbs and ragged breathing. Hemant rolled to the side, pulling her with him so they lay facing each other on the narrow bed. Her hair stuck to her forehead in wild strands, her lips swollen and red. "That was—" She panted. "Yeah." They lay in comfortable silence as their heart rates slowly returned to normal. The golden light had deepened to amber, shadows lengthening across the floor. Evening prayers drifted from a distant mosque, the melodic call a familiar backdrop to their stillness. Kirti stirred first. She extracted herself from his limbs with care, wincing slightly as she sat up. His release trickled down her inner thigh, evidence of their coupling stark against her pale skin. "Shower" she announced, swinging her legs over the edge of the mattress. "I'm a mess." Hemant propped himself on one elbow, watching her cross the room. The sway of her hips made his mouth go dry despite his recent release. "Shall I join you?" She turned at the bathroom door, a warning glint in her eye. "Absolutely not. I've had enough of you inside me for one day" A smile softened the words. "I need to recover before tomorrow." "Tomorrow?" Kirti's expression shifted to something softer. "I have an early morning sortie tomorrow so I will come here every noon for the whole week. After all, now that I have a boyfriend in my life, I plan to be a very regular visitor" The word boyfriend sounded foreign and precious in her mouth. Hemant's chest tightened with emotion he couldn't name. "I'll be waiting." She disappeared into the bathroom. The sound of running water filtered through the door, and Hemant fell back against the pillows, staring at the ceiling. The fan still whirred overhead, casting moving shadows across the walls. His mind should have been racing—SENTINEL's restoration, the Triads, the shadow war waiting in Shanghai. Instead, he felt profoundly, unexpectedly calm. Kirti loved him. She'd always loved him. The weeks of torture, the jealous fantasies, the self-loathing—all of it had been built on a foundation of misunderstanding. Twenty minutes later, Kirti emerged fully dressed in her Air Force uniform. Her hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail, her face scrubbed clean. Only the slight flush on her cheeks betrayed what they'd spent the afternoon doing. She stopped at the bedroom door, drinking him in one last time. "Same time tomorrow?" "I'll be counting the hours" Hemant grinned. "Just no more jerking....I'll take care of that everyday for the week!" Kirti giggled. She matched his smile, then turned and walked out. He heard her boots on the tile floor, the heavy creak of the front door opening, and then the distinctive rumble of her motorcycle engine roaring to life. He rose from the bed and padded to the window, pulling back the curtain just in time to see her tear down the gravel path. Dust kicked up behind her wheels as she accelerated toward the main road, lean body hunched over the handlebars in that aggressive posture he knew so well. The engine faded into the distance. The dust settled. Hemant let the curtain fall and turned back to the empty room, the rumpled bed still carrying the shape of their bodies. Tomorrow suddenly felt very far away. But she'd promised. And Kirti—the woman he'd loved from afar for so long, the ace pilot who'd outflown everyone's expectations, the fire and steel that now belonged to him—she never broke a promise. He smiled to himself as he began straightening the sheets. Tomorrow couldn't come fast enough. (CHAPTER TO BE CONTD)

(CHAPTER CONTD)
The morning sun climbed high over Hemant's villa, heat shimmering off the Rajasthan landscape in waves. He stood in his backyard, shirtless, sweat already glossing his shoulders as he moved through the Kung Fu forms Sifu Kwok had drilled into him. Each stance flowed into the next—horse stance to bow stance, fluid transitions that blurred the line between dance and violence. His muscles coiled and released with practiced precision, the ancient discipline grounding him in the present moment.
After an hour, he shifted into Kalari. This was older, more familiar—the martial art of his ancestors. His bare feet slapped against the packed earth as he executed low sweeps and lightning strikes, body remembering what his mind had never forgotten. The custom shooting gallery stood at the far end of the yard, targets waiting in silent patience, but today his body craved movement over marksmanship. The roar of an engine shattered his focus. Hemant turned as dust billowed at the edge of his property. The Hero Honda Splendor cut through the haze, its rider hunched low over the handlebars with aggressive confidence. Kirti killed the engine and dismounted in one fluid motion, pulling off her helmet to reveal sweat-dampened hair pulled through the back of a tank top. Loose shorts rode high on her thighs, exposing lean muscle honed by cockpit drills and combat sorties. "You're early" Hemant grabbed a towel, wiping his face and chest. She watched him with open appreciation, gaze tracking droplets of sweat down his abdomen. "Couldn't wait" He crossed the yard to meet her, bare chest still heaving from exertion. Her fingers came up instinctively, tracing the definition of his pectorals before he pulled her close. The kiss was brief but promised more—a preview of what the day held. "Give me ten minutes to shower." "No" Her hand pressed flat against his sternum, pushing him back slightly. "I like you like this. All sweaty and primal." A wicked grin curved her mouth. "Help me with my gun skills!" Hemant raised an eyebrow but retrieved two pistols from the lockbox beside the gallery—his personal old college beretta and a standard Air Force issue for her. He checked the chambers, loaded both, and offered her the familiar weapon. "You want pointers or just target practice?" "Both" She stepped up to the marked position, adjusting her stance. Her posture was textbook perfect—shoulders squared, arms extended, feet planted wide. Professional muscle memory. He moved behind her. Close. Closer than instruction required. ![]() "Your grip is too tight" His hands covered hers on the weapon, chest pressing against her back. He could feel the warmth radiating through her thin tank top. "Loosen your fingers. Let the recoil find its own path" Kirti exhaled shakily. "This how you teach all your students?" "Only the special ones." She fired. The shot went wide left. "Again" His voice dropped lower, breath warm against her ear. "Breathe in. Hold. Squeeze, don't pull" Her back arch slightly, pressing closer into him. He felt her shoulder blades shift against his chest as she adjusted her aim. The second shot punched through the outer ring of the target—better, but not clean. Hemant's hands slid from hers. One arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her flush against him while his free hand corrected her elbow position. The motion was innocent. The effect was anything but. "You're distracting me" Her voice came out breathy. "Am I?" He rolled his hips forward, grinding against her. The evidence of his arousal pressed unmistakably against her lower back through his training shorts. "That's a shame" Kirti fired again. This time she didn't even check where the bullet landed. Her head fell back against his shoulder, a soft sigh escaping her lips when his roaming hand finally found its target—cupping her breast through the thin fabric of her tank top. "Hemant—" His name came out half protest, half plea. "Hmm?" He kneaded the flesh firmly, thumb finding the tight peak of her nipple through the material. "Focus on your form, Kira" "This isn't—" She gasped when his other hand slipped beneath the waistband of her shorts. "This isn't training." "No?" His fingers traced lower, brushing the edge of her underwear. "What would you call it?" "A very good time" The words tumbled out between ragged breaths. He chuckled darkly against her throat. "That's one word for it" Hemant released her suddenly, and she whimpered at the loss of contact. But he wasn't finished—just repositioning. He lifted her easily, setting her on the shooting table behind them. ![]() The metal surface was warm from the sun, solid beneath her weight. She reached for him, but he caught her wrists, pinning them beside her hips. "Your issue today is not your handling....but rather a need for stress relief....let me make you light minded!!!!" He tugged her shorts down in one swift motion, panties following. Kirti gasped at the sudden exposure, legs dangling off the table edge, her most intimate parts bared to the open air. The yard was enclosed, the villa isolated—no one for miles. But the thought that someone could see made her blood sing. "Hemant, we're outside—" "Relax Kira" He knelt between her thighs, breath hot against her slick folds. "This place is isolated.....no one will hear or see you fall apart!!!" His mouth found her before she could respond. Kirti's head fell back, a moan tearing from her throat as his tongue traced her seam. He licked long and slow, savoring her taste, before focusing on the swollen bud at her apex. His hands climbed beneath her tank top, finding her breasts again, kneading and pinching as his mouth worked her relentlessly. "Oh god—oh fuck—" Her hips rolled against his face, chasing more friction. He gave it, increasing pressure and speed, tongue swirling in patterns that made her vision blur. One hand abandoned her breast to slip two fingers inside her waiting entrance, curling to find that spot only he seemed able to reach. "Mhmm.....uhhhmmm.....Hemant—Hemant—I'm—" She shattered with a scream that echoed across the empty landscape. Her thighs clamped around his head, hands fisting in his hair as waves of pleasure crashed through her. He worked her through it, gentling his touch as she trembled down from the peak. But before her breathing normalized, he stood and shoved his shorts down. His cock stood rigid, flushed and leaking. "Now for the best stress reliever!!!" He pulled her to the edge of the table and thrust home in one smooth stroke. "AHHHHH!!!!" Kirti wailed, oversensitive walls clenching around his intrusion. The angle was deep—deeper than before—and each snap of his hips hit something devastating inside her. The table groaned beneath them, shifting with the force of his movements. He drove into her relentlessly, sweat dripping from his brow onto her chest. The afternoon sun blazed overhead, casting harsh shadows across their tangled bodies. Her tank top bunched around her ribs, leaving her breasts bare to his hungry gaze. He leaned down to capture one nipple in his mouth, teeth grazing the sensitive flesh. "Ahhhh......Again—cuummming again!!!!" Her second orgasm rippled through her, walls clenching rhythmically around his length. He groaned against her chest, hips stuttering as his own release crashed forward. He buried himself deep, warmth flooding her depths as he pulsed inside her. They stayed locked together, breathing ragged, hearts pounding in tandem. Eventually Hemant pulled back, offering her his hand. She took it, legs wobbling as she stood. "I think I need that shower now" she managed. The kitchen became its own battlefield. They prepared lunch wearing nothing but borrowed shirts and satisfied smiles, passing ingredients back and forth with practiced ease. Hemant fed her bites of curry from his fingers, watching her lips close around each offering with deliberate slowness. "Your cooking needs work" she teased. "My cooking is perfect" He pressed against her from behind, hands settling on her hips as she stirred. "You're just used to the bland food from the Air Force canteen!" "My boyfriend has different skills!" He nipped her shoulder in retaliation, making her yelp. The afternoon blurred into the bedroom. They explored positions neither had attempted—she rode him reverse, he took her from behind against the headboard, they tangled in variations that left them both breathless and aching. Each round built on the last, desire banked and rekindled until exhaustion finally claimed them. Evening light painted the room in shades of amber when they finally surfaced. Both lay tangled in sweat-dampened sheets, bodies spent and satisfied. Kirti traced idle patterns on his chest, her touch feather-light. "You're different in bed" Her voice held wonder. "To everyone else , you are this calm , silent and closeted person....but in this bedroom with me.....you are..." She trailed off. "Animalistic?" "Carnivore" She laughed softly. "Like you don't hesitate in showing how I am your favorite food!" Hemant turned his head to look at her. "So shall I consider this a Complaint?" "No...not at all!" She propped herself on one elbow, expression serious despite her smile. "I love playing with this beast. Love how I sometimes get to control it!" He pulled her down for a slow, deep kiss. When they separated, she sighed contentedly and rose from the bed. Dressing took minutes—tank top, shorts, uniform jacket. She looked as composed as if she'd spent the day doing paperwork. "Same time tomorrow?" She stood at the doorway, helmet in hand. "Counting the hours." Kirti grabbed his collar, yanking him into a fierce kiss that promised everything and left him wanting more. When she pulled back, her eyes sparkled. "Don't keep me waiting." She straddled her motorcycle, engine roaring to life beneath her. The dust cloud she left behind swallowed the path as she disappeared toward the main road, lean body hunched low over the handlebars. Hemant stood in the doorway, watching until the engine's rumble faded entirely. The villa felt emptier without her presence, but the ache in his muscles and the warmth in his chest told a different story. Days of leave stretched ahead. Days of her. He walked back inside, smiling to himself. Whatever chaos waited in Shanghai, whatever corruption rotted SENTINEL from within—he'd face it when the time came. But this week? This week belonged to them. Thank the universe for small mercies. The days blurred together in a haze of sweat and satisfaction. Kirti found herself anticipating each morning with an eagerness that bordered on obsession, her body already humming with need before her eyes fully opened. Hemant had ruined her for anyone else—not that she'd ever wanted another. The way he touched her, the way he seemed to read every unspoken desire written in her trembling breath and arching spine. He understood her body like a pilot understood their aircraft, responding to every subtle shift with intuitive precision. Wednesday brought the motorcycle. Kirti had arrived at his villa with a gleam in her eye, demanding he take her for a ride. He'd raised an eyebrow at the reversal—her machine, her seat—but she'd simply handed him the helmet and swung onto the back. The Rajasthan heat pressed down on them as they tore through the outskirts, dust kicking up behind the wheels in golden plumes. Her arms wrapped tight around his torso, cheek pressed against the warmth of his back. The vibration between her thighs was entirely intentional. She reached around him, fingers finding the zipper of his jeans with practiced ease. The bike swerved slightly as her hand wrapped around his length, already half-hard from the intimacy of her pressed against him. "Kira" His voice carried warning and want in equal measure. "You're going to make us crash" "Then pull over" He did. The moment the engine died, she was off the bike and dragging him toward the tree line. A forest region stretched beyond the highway, isolated and silent except for the distant hum of traffic. She barely got her shorts down before he had her bent over, palms flat against a rough-barked tree trunk. The first thrust made her gasp—the angle deeper than anything they'd tried before. He took her from behind with urgent strokes, her moans swallowed by the empty landscape. Heat built rapidly, pushed higher by the forbidden nature of their coupling. Anyone could see. Anyone could drive past and witness the ace pilot of Nal Air Base getting thoroughly fucked against a tree. ![]() The thought made her cum harder than she had all week. Thursday revealed something new about Hemant. Kirti had grown accustomed to men who either let her walk all over them or tried so hard to dominate that the dynamic felt forced. Hemant was neither. When she pushed, he pushed back—not with aggression, but with quiet confidence that made her core tighten. If she tried to take control, he'd let her, for a while, before flipping her onto her back and reminding her who she belonged to. The bedroom became their arena, and every night brought new experiments. She learned she was more flexible than she'd realized; he learned talents she hadn't known he possessed. Her performance in the cockpit reflected her satisfaction. Superiors noted improved reaction times, better decision-making under pressure. The fire that had always driven her burned brighter now, fueled by something more than duty. That afternoon, she walked into the base canteen with a glow no uniform could hide. Dan sat with Vishal and Rani at a corner table, mugs of chai steaming between scattered papers. Their conversation died when she approached, faces turning toward her with varying degrees of curiosity. "Someone's been busy" Rani observed, eyes sharp. "You're practically radiating. What's his name?" Kirti dropped into an empty chair, smile widening. "My boyfriend?" Dan choked on his chai. Vishal's eyebrows climbed toward his hairline. Rani leaned forward, elbows on the table. "Boyfriend?" Dan sputtered, wiping his mouth. "You mean Vishal?" "Vishal isn't my boyfriend." Kirti's laugh rang genuine. Vishal raised his hands in surrender, a knowing grin creasing his features. "Her man is not me!" "So who is this mystery man?" Rani pressed. Kirti's smile turned wicked. "A very handsome stud. Well-built. Runs a shipping company in China these days" The words landed like a bomb. Dan's mug hit the table with a clatter. "Hemant?! You're dating Hemant?!" "Dating is a sweet word....but its more than that...we're already fucking!!!" Kirti stretched, satisfaction evident in every line of her body. "I've been at his villa every day this week. That's why I've been absent from base until evenings....getting myself piledrived by my ripped boyfriend!!!" Dan rubbed his eyes with the heel of his palm. "I didn't need to know that" "Well I didn't want you all to be kept in the dark" She rose from the chair, collecting her helmet from the table edge. "Speaking of which, I'm late...I need his heat!!!" Rani's jaw dropped. "You're going there now?" "What can I say....he's too addictive for me to ignore" Kirti winked. "I'll be late....as usual!!!!" She left their stunned silence behind, boots clicking across the tile floor. The motorcycle ride to Hemant's villa felt longer than usual, anticipation coiling tight in her belly. When she arrived and found the house quiet, she followed the sound of running water to the bathroom. The shower door slid open without ceremony. Steam curled around Hemant's figure, water cascading down the defined muscles of his back. He turned at the sound, expression shifting from surprise to hunger when he saw her standing bare in the doorway. She'd stripped in the bedroom—efficiency had its virtues. "Took you long enough" His voice echoed off the tiles. She stepped in without answering, pressing her body against his slick skin. The water ran hot between them, pooling in the hollows of their joined forms. Her hand found him immediately, fingers wrapping around his shaft, stroking him to full hardness while her mouth explored his collarbone. "Missed you," she murmured against his throat. "We fucked just yesterday" "That's too long." He answered by spinning her around, bending her forward under the spray. Her palms slapped against the tile wall, steam rising around them as he positioned himself at her entrance. The first thrust drove the breath from her lungs. Water sluiced down their bodies as he set a relentless rhythm, each stroke punctuated by the wet slap of skin against skin. "AHHHH YESSSS.....Love it when you pound into me!!!" His hands gripped her hips hard enough to bruise, anchoring her in place while he drove into her with punishing force. The angle let him hit something deep inside her, a spot that made her vision white out with each impact. She pushed back against him, matching his rhythm, desperate for more. "Uggh...Cum for me, Kira" His command came out guttural, strained. "I AM CUMMING HEMANT!!! AAHH!!!!" She shattered. Her walls clamped down around him, legs shaking, a scream torn from her throat that echoed off the tile walls. He followed her over the edge two strokes later, warmth flooding her depths as he buried himself to the hilt. They stayed locked together under the cooling water, catching their breath. ![]() Sunday brought a different kind of intimacy. The theatre in Bikaner showed some forgettable action film—neither of them could recall the plot an hour later. They'd spent the duration making out in the dark like teenagers, her hand wandering under the armrest, his fingers tracing patterns on her inner thigh. The cab ride back to his villa tested every ounce of their self-control. Tonight belonged to them. They made love nine times before midnight. Every position, every surface, every combination they could imagine. The bedroom became a warzone of tangled sheets and exhausted bodies. By the tenth round—past midnight now—she'd lost count of orgasms. Kirti straddled him in inverted missionary, her back pressed against his chest, legs hooked over his thighs. The angle was devastating. He filled her completely while she rode him in slow, grinding circles, determined to wring every last drop from his body. "You've milked me dry" His voice came out hoarse, wrecked. "This whole week, Kira" "That's the point" She rolled her hips, savoring the drag of him inside her. "I am making sure you have the cravings for this pussy so much that every minute spend in Shanghai will make you crave it!!" "You know something funny. Some of my friends took me to a local strip club there. One of those dancers had a slim figure like yours. I imagined you at that moment. Which is what tempted me to return here!" Kirti looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Then grinned. "Hmm....then maybe next time , I'll give you that dance personally!" His hands found her waist, stilling her movement. "Next time, I'm taking you to Shanghai. Cooler weather. Better hotels. A proper place for proper romance" The promise made her clench around him. "You'd bring me to China?" "I'd bring you anywhere." He thrust up into her, slow and deep. "I will fuck you in this whole universe if I could!!!!" She came with his name on her lips, trembling against his chest as he released inside her one final time. Sleep claimed them before she could catch her breath, bodies still joined, hearts beating in tandem. Morning broke too bright, too soon. Hemant's SUV idled in the driveway. Kirti stood at the driver's side door, arms crossed tight against her chest. The Rajasthan sun was already climbing, promising another scorching day. "I'll return" he said. "You better" He pulled her close one last time, mouth claiming hers with desperate hunger. She melted against him, memorizing the taste of him, the solid warmth of his body. When they separated, his thumb traced her jaw. "But next time I return , I am taking you with me to Shanghai!" "I'm holding you to that" He climbed into the driver's seat, engine roaring to life. She watched the dust cloud disappear down the gravel path, one hand pressed against her chest where an ache had taken root. The base felt quieter when she returned. Emptier. But beneath the melancholy stirred something else—anticipation. She had a reason now. A promise. A future that stretched across borders and oceans. Hemant would return. And when he did, she'd be waiting. (CHAPTER TO BE CONTD)

RETURN TO SHANGHAI
Michael King returned from Rajasthan changed. His new relation with Kirti and the future with her sharpened him further. Shanghai noticed it almost immediately. The calm businessman who once preferred negotiation increasingly stepped into the chaos himself whenever Sun On Yee interests came under threat. Rival factions had begun targeting shipments, sabotaging meetings, and ambushing mid-level operations in desperation after months of losses. More than once, Vincent Mao and Ricky Tan found themselves trapped in collapsing deals—buyers switching sides, armed crews arriving uninvited, betrayals unfolding in abandoned warehouses or riverside exchanges. And every time things turned ugly—Michael King showed up. Word spread quickly throughout the Triads that the businessman in tailored suits could fight like a war machine when pushed. One night near Pudong, Vincent nearly walked into an ambush disguised as a routine negotiation. By the time Michael arrived, chaos had already broken loose. Vincent later swore he watched Michael walk through flying debris and panic with terrifying focus, pulling him out before the situation turned fatal. Another time, Ricky found himself cornered after a trusted intermediary attempted to flip loyalties during a tense exchange. Michael stepped in—not with anger, but with frightening control—de-escalating the room just enough to keep bloodshed from spiraling while still protecting his people. Those moments mattered. Respect turned into loyalty. Even Uncle Rey Shen began depending on him more heavily. One rainy afternoon inside Rey Shen’s tower, the aging chairman sat across from Michael with an unusual expression. "You’ve become useful to us in ways I never expected" Rey admitted quietly, pouring tea. "Which is why this next matter concerns you directly" Michael raised an eyebrow. "A proposal arrived from London" Rey continued. "The client specifically requested a meeting with Michael King" That alone caught his attention. The meeting was arranged two days later in a quiet private lounge overlooking Shanghai’s skyline. Michael expected another aggressive businessman trying to leverage connections. Instead—The visitor intrigued him instantly. The man introduced himself as Manush Rustom. Older. Measured. Sharp-eyed in a way that suggested decades spent reading dangerous rooms. Long white hair rested neatly over his shoulders, giving him the strange aura of someone who had survived far too much to ever be intimidated again. He carried himself with quiet confidence, the kind built over years of influence rather than displays of force. "I represent Aesir Corporation!" Rustom said smoothly after the introductions. Michael remained cautious. "And why exactly are you here?" Rustom smiled faintly. "To discuss expansion" He placed a folder on the table. "Your gold logistics network has gained attention" His expression shifted slightly. "You came highly recommended" Michael narrowed his eyes. "By who?" A knowing smile crossed Rustom’s face. "A woman named Sachiko!!" That name landed harder than expected. Of course. Michael understood immediately. Another move from his former partner. Another carefully placed step to expand his reach. Rustom continued, relaxed but deliberate. "She works with one of my subsidiary firms. Smart woman" He folded his hands. "She believes Michael King is someone worth building alongside" Michael almost laughed internally. Sachiko never stopped planning. The conversation stretched for hours. Rustom spoke about trade corridors, shifting global pressures, and opportunities emerging between Europe and Asia. He wanted Michael’s expanding network to support broader financial movement into new regions—using trusted relationships and stable partnerships where others only saw instability. "You’ve built trust in difficult places" Rustom said. "That’s rare" Michael leaned back. "And what exactly are you expecting from me?" "Partnership" Rustom replied simply. No arrogance. No threats. Just opportunity. By the end of the evening, an understanding had begun forming. As they stood near the exit overlooking Shanghai’s glowing skyline, Rustom extended his hand. "I think" he said calmly. "We could accomplish meaningful things together" Michael studied him for a moment. Interesting. Careful. Dangerous in ways that weren’t obvious. The kind of man worth paying attention to. He shook Rustom’s hand. "We’ll see where this goes" For the first time in a while, Michael felt genuinely curious. Because whatever this alliance became—It felt like the beginning of something much bigger. The agreement with Manush Rustom moved faster than Michael expected. Weeks after their meeting in Shanghai, Michael found himself standing beneath a gray northern sky in Hulunbuir, where cold winds rolled endlessly across open land near the frontier. The landscape felt almost alien compared to Shanghai’s restless energy—vast, quiet, unforgiving. A convoy operation had arrived under heavy discretion, and Michael personally oversaw the exchange from a distance, more curious than cautious. Whatever Rustom was building, it clearly carried weight. What unsettled him wasn’t the scale. It was the secrecy. The shipment itself carried staggering financial significance, enough to make even experienced operators pause. Michael watched movements unfold with disciplined precision, expecting shadowy intermediaries or criminal enforcers waiting across the border. ![]() Instead—Uniformed personnel. Official. Organized. Military. Michael stood silently as the realization settled into place. "This doesn’t look like a mafia outfit!" he muttered. No one answered him directly. That only made him dig deeper. Over the following days, Michael quietly followed threads through trusted contacts, business records, and conversations hidden between carefully chosen words. The picture that emerged surprised him more than he expected. The arrangement wasn’t built around underworld greed. It was political leverage. Rustom, appeared to be helping stabilize a sensitive financial problem tied to government interests. In return, pressure would increase against certain criminal networks—particularly factions of the Russian Mafia whose influence had grown inconvenient. And among the names quietly circulating beneath the surface—AZRAEL. The coincidence felt too deliberate. Their next meeting happened in Shanghai. Rain tapped softly against the windows of an upscale private lounge overlooking the skyline while the city glowed beneath gray evening skies. Rustom looked exactly the same as before—composed, unreadable, long white hair resting neatly over his shoulders like time itself had forgotten to touch him. Michael wasted little time. "You knew what I’d discover" he said calmly. Rustom stirred his tea. "I assumed you’d ask eventually" Michael leaned forward slightly. "The purpose of the arrangement" he said. "What are you really trying to do?" For the first time, Rustom’s expression shifted. Not amusement. Not caution. Something quieter. Measured. "I’ll be honest with you, Michael" He set the cup down carefully. "You’re not the only person bothered by AZRAEL" The room went still. Michael studied him closely. No performance. No manipulation he could immediately read. Just conviction. Rustom continued. "Some organizations survive because nobody challenges them properly" His voice lowered slightly. "Others become dangerous because too many powerful people benefit from pretending they don’t exist" Michael said nothing. But internally—Something clicked. For months, he had been building influence against AZRAEL from the edges, replacing their relevance piece by piece through business and loyalty. Yet here sat someone with reach far beyond Shanghai—someone who also viewed the syndicate as a problem worth dismantling. Maybe there was common ground after all. Maybe this partnership meant more than profit. Later that night, standing alone outside beneath London’s cold air, Michael watched headlights streak across wet streets while the city moved around him. He thought about William. Sachiko. Sharon. SENTINEL. Shanghai. Everything he had become. And Manush Rustom. Interesting men were dangerous men. But dangerous men with aligned goals? Those were worth understanding. Michael made his decision quietly. If he wanted answers—If he truly wanted to understand who Rustom was and what kind of game he was playing—Then London would matter. He would expand his presence there. Grow Great Peng’s reach. Build stronger ties. And get closer to the man standing at the center of it all. Because something told him this alliance was heading toward consequences far bigger than either of them had admitted aloud. JUNE 18 2005, LONDON, UK London greeted Michael King with cold skies and polished glass. The call from Manush Rustom had arrived without much explanation—only that it was important and better discussed face to face. By now, Michael had learned something about Rustom: when the older man personally requested a meeting, it usually meant something larger was moving beneath the surface. The car dropped him near the heart of the city. Towering above London’s financial district stood the headquarters of AESIR Corporation. ![]() Massive.Elegant. The kind of building designed to quietly remind everyone around it that real power rarely needed to announce itself. Michael paused briefly, taking in the steel and mirrored architecture stretching into the gray sky. Inside, security cleared him immediately. Executives moved through pristine hallways while digital displays projected infrastructure projects, advanced energy systems, and cutting-edge technological developments operating across continents. Everything about AESIR felt bigger than he expected—less corporation, more empire. When the elevator doors opened onto the executive suite floor, Manush Rustom stood waiting personally. And to Michael’s mild surprise—The older man greeted him with an open hug. "Michael!" Rustom said warmly. "About time you came to London properly" "Didn't knew we have upgraded to hugs now!" Michael replied dryly. Rustom laughed. "Come on Michael, we are not just business partners at this point. We're definitely more than that!" The suite itself overlooked much of central London, elegant without feeling flashy. Rustom motioned him toward a seat while tea had already been prepared. "You’ve been busy" Rustom began. Michael leaned back slightly. Rustom smiled faintly. "Our partnership has exceeded expectations" he said, He slid several reports across the table. "Trade between China and the UK has expanded faster than projections. New contacts. Better transport chains. And the crazy part is many of these trades are now done in legal command now. You were the right kind of antidote for the crimes to be reduced in China it seems" His expression sharpened slightly. "And you have earned the Triad's trust. So much so that even their government officials admires your methods" Michael skimmed through the documents. Impressive numbers. Fast growth. A level of influence he hadn’t fully realized had accumulated. Then Rustom tilted his head. "Though I’ve noticed something" he said casually. Michael looked up. "You’re not completely comfortable with shipping" That earned a small laugh. "If it wasn’t for Howard Tsao, The Great Peng Shipping would’ve buried me alive" Michael admitted. Rustom nodded knowingly. "I suspected as much" He tapped another set of documents. "But this…" Fenghuang Energy. SilkRoute Dynamics. Growth projections. Technology expansions. Engineering contracts. "These are different" Rustom continued, Michael stayed quiet. "You’re an engineer at heart, that’s where you thrive" Rustom said plainly. Michael crossed his arms. "You didn’t invite me here just to point out my skills aren't you?" For a moment—Rustom simply smiled. "I like that about you" He leaned back. "Straight to the point" Then his tone shifted. More serious. "I’ve been observing you for longer than you realize" Michael’s expression tightened slightly. "Ever since Macau" Rustom continued. "When you saved Father Dominic" That caught his attention instantly. Rustom folded his hands. "I know who you are, Michael" The room grew quieter. "I know about SENTINEL" Michael went still. Rustom’s voice remained calm. "The UN task force compromised from within" He paused. Michael said nothing. "I know certain higher-ups became loyal to AZRAEL" Rustom added quietly. That landed harder. Not because it was impossible. Because very few people should have known. "You’ve done your homework" Michael said carefully. "I did" Rustom replied. Silence lingered. Michael studied him more closely now. Curious. Cautious. Because Rustom clearly had his own motives. And yet—AZRAEL again. Always AZRAEL. "You have problems with them too" Michael observed. Rustom gave a slow nod. "Deep ones....with deep history!" Rustom stood up. He walked to the showcase nearby and pointed at a framed photo. Michael was shocked to see the image was of a young Rustom posing with the Mafia Don Haji Mastaan at a party in Mumbai. It had a date , March 14 1985. The picture was taken in one of those famous Haji Mastaan parties. The occasion though was for the time when Mastaan entered politics. As Michael stared at the photo , Rustom revealed. "I convinced him the evil of AZRAEL which resulted in him blocking their supply chain in Mumbai. He had his own bad stuffs but I admired his zero tolerance for drug trafficking" He stood and walked toward the massive window overlooking London. "I spend a lifetime building influence when AZRAEL tried to take over my gold mine in Azarbaijaan. They tortured the poor people there , did all kinds of cruel tactics to stop me. But I silently grew , today I have influence and power to hold my own against them , but I lost my youth in the process. Which is why my attention went to you. You are someone that can use this power and destroy AZRAEL for good!" he said after a pause. "But I think you’re limiting yourself" Michael frowned slightly. "How?" "You still think like a soldier" That word again. Soldier. William had said something similar once. Rustom turned back. "You’re still operating within someone else’s structure" he continued. "Triads. SENTINEL. Chains of loyalty" Michael’s jaw tightened. "They’re not chains" "No" Rustom agreed calmly. "But they are boundaries. And you are limiting yourself. You are finding peace with small victories. Something you should not do with AZRAEL" Then finally—He revealed what this meeting was truly about. "I want you to join me" Michael blinked once. Rustom gestured around the room. "AESIR" He said it like it was obvious. "I want you to run this corporation" Michael almost laughed from disbelief. "You cannot be serious" "I’m completely serious" Rustom stepped closer. "You already proved your potential and skills with the success of Fenghuang and SilkRoute. So I have no doubt AESIR can be your next step of evolution with true power" He paused. Michael stayed silent. "You’ve built influence underground" Rustom continued. "Now imagine influence above ground" He gestured toward the skyline. "Resources. Technology. Political leverage. Global reach" His voice sharpened. "AZRAEL operates like an empire" He looked directly at Michael. "You will have your own to face them head on , no more stealth ops , no more shadow wars. Just hurt them head on like a warrior you are meant to be" Michael felt the weight of the idea settling into the room. Rustom continued. "AESIR can become your best weapon against AZRAEL. You can be free of all the threads. Fight your own fights. You will have options" He paused. The word lingered. Options. "You could target AZRAEL strategically" Rustom said. "Financially. Technologically. Operationally" Then came the part Michael hadn’t expected. "And eventually?" Rustom’s expression steadied. "You can remodel and restore SENTINEL to its old glory!!!" Michael looked up sharply. "If that task force matters to you" Rustom said quietly. "Then stop serving it" He paused. "Lead it" The silence afterward felt heavy. Because suddenly—The impossible didn’t sound impossible anymore. On the flight back to Shanghai, Michael barely slept. London’s skyline replayed in his head. AESIR. SENTINEL. AZRAEL. For the first time in a long while, he saw a version of the future that didn’t involve hiding between identities. Michael King could become legitimate. A respected global businessman. Someone who built instead of merely survived. And if Rustom was right—Someone powerful enough to fight enemies without standing in the shadows. More than that—London felt different. Cleaner. Quieter. A place where he could imagine something he had almost forgotten mattered. A home. A future with Kirti. A life where danger didn’t define everything. By the time the plane descended toward Shanghai, one thought had already settled into place: Maybe Michael King wasn’t the end of his story. Maybe he was only becoming the man Hemant was always meant to be. The decision weighed on Michael King for days. Ever since returning from London, the offer from Manush Rustom had lingered in his mind like an unfinished conversation. During meetings, he found himself drifting back to AESIR's towering headquarters. During quiet nights in his villa, he imagined what it would mean to step beyond the world he had built in Shanghai. It wasn't simply a promotion. It was an evolution. Eventually, he found himself sitting across from Uncle Rey Shen in the chairman's private office. The old man listened patiently as Michael explained everything—the proposal, AESIR, Rustom's ambitions, and the possibility of eventually reclaiming influence over SENTINEL itself. When he finished, Rey Shen remained silent for several moments. Then he smiled. "You should take it" Michael blinked. "That quickly?" Rey chuckled. "You expected me to fight you?" Michael shrugged. "Maybe" The chairman shook his head. "Your association with the Triads was never meant to be forever" He poured himself tea before continuing. "You came to us when you needed a place to grow. Now you've outgrown the place that sheltered you." Michael looked away thoughtfully. Rey continued. "You've strengthened Sun On Yee." "You've expanded our businesses." "You have earned the trust of our people who rarely trust anyone." The old man's eyes softened. "And now an opportunity has appeared that benefits all of us." Michael looked back at him. "How?" Rey smiled knowingly. "Because if the head of AESIR Corporation remains a friend of the Triads, then our influence grows alongside yours." The logic was impossible to ignore. "You've already shown the right path for the Triads through the SunOnYee, Michael. A Path where less violence and more structure and progress is involved. You're showed us the core values of the Triads was always meant to be the safeguard of our people, not ruling by bloodshed" The chairman raised his teacup. "To Michael King and a new beginning!" A few days later, Michael met Jiu Mey inside the executive conference room of Fenghuang Energy. The city skyline stretched beyond the windows while employees moved through the building below them. "I suppose you've heard already" Michael said. Jiu smirked. "About London?" "News travels fast." "Among people like us? Always" she replied. Michael handed her a folder. "I wanted to discuss succession" Jiu opened it. Inside were transfer plans, executive structures, and operational documents for both Fenghuang Energy and SilkRoute Dynamics. "I'd like you to take over" Jiu studied the papers quietly. Then laughed. "You really haven't heard?" Michael frowned. "Heard what?" She leaned back in her chair. "I'm already moving up." His eyebrows rose. "How far?" A proud smile crossed her face. "Very soon, I'll become the first vice chairwoman of the Triads." For a moment, Michael simply stared. Then a genuine smile appeared. "That's huge." "I know" "You earned it." Jiu nodded once. "I did" Michael laughed softly. "Then who's replacing you as Red Pole?" Her answer came immediately. "Ricky" Michael paused. Then slowly smiled. "That's actually perfect." "I thought so too." Jiu looked toward the city below. "He already treats everyone like family." Michael couldn't argue with that. Nobody bled harder for Sun On Yee than Ricky Tan. Nobody protected their people more fiercely. The promotion felt inevitable. A week later, the Golden Yang Hotel hosted a private dinner. No business. No politics. No strategy meetings. Just family. Or at least the closest thing Michael had found to one outside of SENTINEL. The private dining room overlooked Shanghai's evening skyline while a massive banquet filled the center table. Vincent Ma arrived first and immediately began complaining about everything. "You know London food is terrible, right?" Michael rolled his eyes. "You've never even been there." "Don't need to" Howard Tsao laughed into his drink. Conroy Wu started making jokes about Michael becoming some rich corporate billionaire while Sam Lin insisted he expected free vacations in England. For the first hour, the room was filled almost entirely with laughter. Nobody wanted to acknowledge why they were really there. Eventually, though, reality caught up. Ricky stood first. The newly appointed Red Pole raised his glass. The room fell quiet. "To Michael" Everyone followed suit. Ricky looked directly at him. "When you first showed up, I thought you were just another fighter" Vincent nodded immediately. "Same." Howard chuckled. "Honestly, I thought you'd quit shipping within a month." That earned laughter. Then Ricky's expression softened. "But somewhere along the way..." he continued "...you became one of us" Silence settled over the room. No jokes this time. No sarcasm. Just truth. "You saved our lives." "You built opportunities for us." "You gave this organization a future." Ricky raised his glass higher. "And no matter where you go next..." His voice steadied. "You'll always be family." For a moment, nobody spoke. Then Vincent stood and hugged him first. "Don't get all emotional on us, Mr. King." Michael laughed despite himself. "You're literally crying" "I am not" "You absolutely are" Howard joined next. Then Conroy. Then Sam. Even Jiu eventually stepped forward. The evening stretched long into the night as old stories resurfaced, embarrassing memories were weaponized against one another, and countless drinks were shared. For the first time since arriving in Shanghai, Michael truly understood what he was leaving behind. Not an organization. Not a business. Not even a city. A family. Much later, as the dinner finally came to an end, Michael stood near the hotel window overlooking Shanghai. The city lights reflected across the glass. The same city that had transformed Hemant into Michael King. The same city that had given him purpose when his old life collapsed. And now—The city was preparing to let him go. London waited. AESIR waited. A future with Kirti waited. For the first time in a very long while, the road ahead wasn't defined by survival. It was defined by choice. And as Michael looked out over Shanghai one final time, he silently thanked the city that had changed him forever. END OF CHAPTER 35 |
