SpellBound!

To begin with, the prologue and the couple of first updates led me to remember my favorite all time classic, Alexandre Dumas' 'The Count of Monte Cristo' which is more supple in intensity than Vendetta. Although very short compared to that masterpiece, this was written for an online viewership and was adequately prolonged to fulfill the requirements of a forum story.

The first few parts outline the plot sharply while the reader (such as me) shivers from the brutal force of words the author uses to elaborate the bang of the officer's wife which is in stark contrast of a romantic scene described a few moments ago. As the plot is digested eventually, the vendetta justifies itself in the reader's mind as he is oblivious to the truth behind the supposed antagonist's remorseless actions.

The author is found in such immaculate control of the story's plot that not once during the whole text is the reader, even by exposing subtle hints, shown the reality of the climax generated tacitly in the prologue. This clearly shows bold professionalism on the part of the author and his sincerity in making a serious attempt at writing a thriller, an open source thriller.

In the climax, while all eyes are set on Rahul making his revenge come to a sweet end, the author creates an anti-climax which breaks the mountain of thoughts the reader has formed in his perplexed mind regarding Rahul's heroism and the thought of his evilness in being the antagonist-in-hiding is revealed. Here there is the clash of ideals - while both men justify their acts, it is Rahul who speaks contradictory to his own actions by pleading Lavanya to affirm his right to live, which I think is the point the author is trying to put across - the denial of capital punishment.

There were a few faults too which I inadvertently could not help but notice regarding minor typographical and grammatical edits which I would willingly point out if the author intends to rectify. Apart from that, one or two sentences were used numerous times thereby nullifying their power of meaning with each mentioned instance. A relevant example would be the worn out phrase, 'Laughing like a maniac' which has been used no less than 5-6 times throughout the story.

Coming to an end, the story rocked me completely. Once started reading, did not stop until I read the last letter. It is indeed comparable to the great crime stories of Agatha Christie which, although milder in language are similar in plot. Hats off to this great writer for giving us a masterpiece like this, specially in the English language which is much easier to read and understand considering the roman script used. Meriaiza has surpassed the limits of expectation and given us what we did not even comprehend. He has embarked his skills to a new level of talent, taking the board along with his leaps and bounds to the level of genius from the level of excellence. Thank You.

Absolutely brilliant...

This story needs no review but only praises for its brilliant and realistic protrayal of human psychology.

The romantic setting turning tragic, that too for a cop and the brutality meted out to his innocent wife and her unborn child absolutely justified the manner in which the three thugs were taken care of.I was actually rooting for even more cruel and inhuman things to be done to the them (not that u described any less).

The mystery was beautifully kept till the final chapter. The ending is apt and provides some comfort to the reader whos emotions are taken for a roller coaster ride.

The nail in the coffin was the manner in which the reader is violently jolted from rooting for Rahul to losing sympathy for him near the end.

My personal fav "be it a rock or a grain of sand, in water they sink as the same''.

Dont wanna rant on and on but this is a story that surpasses any i have read here or in any other forum.

well Ali bhai your writing and talent is known to all and you proved it again..... but honestly I do not like reading where people are tortured before dying..... i find it inhumane yet i know that is happening all around the globe, I am just against it..... i agree to write a scene where someone is killed in a shot or two...but to torture before killing its not human at all...... Well its only a story i know but its against me...i just cant read such stuff...I am doing it only because of you..i am left with 3 more updates, will finish tomorrow.

Meriaiza -

Bhai this story is a lot more complicated then diljala or any other chutiya Bollywood flick and not inspired from any Hollywood movie either. This story is my tribute to my favorite film of all time, Old Boy but the story is completely different. I just used one dialogue from that movie but that was done intentionally as I was giving the movie tribute here.

The reasons for all this madness will be cleared in the final chapter or the 3 updates that you haven't read yet. As for violence, where does it comes from? As you have already admitted that these things happen all around us in every part of the world. Rather than pretend as if these things don't exist at all I want to explore such situations and the human psychology. Lets make no mistake about this, us humans are the most sinister, dangerous and insane creatures on this planet. Among other things Vendetta is a story about how some wrong decisions in life can start a chain reaction that will destroy not only the person that made the mistake but even those around him.

Anyway I can understand if you are having trouble reading this. I know this is not for everyone. Both of us have also written stories about incest and many here hate them without even reading a single update. I respect their right to chose what to read or not or to hate incest stories. This is not changing the fact that majority of stories are incest stories here at exbii and there's a huge following and demand for such stories. Same way I want to write stories now that involve hard hitting topics that might not be according to everyone's taste but as Vendetta already proved, they too will have a following if written successfully. Once again I thank you for reading this mate even though it's not according to you taste.

A small Review
A Small Review

The prologue in Meriaza's "Vendetta" is enough to make a thriller lover's heart sing. The plot is a good one, complex and engaging, but what makes this story far better as well as unique, are the words that deliver the beauty of human existence, as well as the pain of losing the one you have loved dearly and lost so violently.

The protagonist's wife is being bangd and brutally murdered, we learn in the first chapter. But that's only an outward manifestation of something far more serious going on deep within the mind of the unknown villain. He does not come across as an ordinary villian, but someone who is not averse to voilence of the higest degree and yet, is able to be calm, composed and out right bold amongst the brutality that he is witnessing and is the instigator of. He is clearly a psycopath. If it weren't for the descriptions and personifications of setting, and the kind of brutality he leads the protagonist to experience we might never know what is going on inside this man. He's not someone who is bothered by the repercussions of his actions and where they might eventually lead.

This story starts as a joyous ocassion for the protagonist and his wife who are getting ready to go out to celebrate, but the narrator suddenly gives it a twist that makes everyone wonder what has suddenly happened "He smiled at her and went towards their bedroom but as soon as he was inside the room and started removing his shirt, he heard Kalpana screaming loudly with pain. He panicked and quickly ran outside the room shirtless but as soon as he was outside the room, someone hit him hard on his head and he blacked out......" and thereon we are hooked.

The villain or other main character, comes across as someone who have strategised this event for lengths, and not only have the motivation, but the conviction to lead the event to its conclusion which he knew in advance and doesn't seem afraid off.

As the story progresses, the author leads us thru the pain, the torture and the agony that a man suffers and how the brutality that have been brought upon him made him a kind of man for whom only more blood shed was needed to bring satisfaction.

The story is tight from benigning till end, with a lot of twist and turns and enough action to keep the readers on the edge. The best thing about the story is that every update leaves u shocked and awed with anticipation about what is going to come next.
The author clearly knows what he wants his viewers to experience and is very much aware of the limitations, that have been imposed on him by limited number of characters and yet makes sure that the pace of the story is not slackened in any way and the thrill ride continues page after page.

Finally, the autor leads us to the confrontation between the two characters, as the story works to a startling ending. The writers manipulates the events so brilliantly that even when the suspense behind the motivation of the villian is revealed, the thrill still continues as the viewer is shocked to realise and in some small way sympathesise with him and his reasons for doing what he did, the events are so beautifully orchestrated so as to make the reader think who is to be blamed ? and if what happened with the protagonist was just a retribution on the part of the villain or does someone really deserves so much brutality to be enthrusted upon him ?
This twists actually justifies the name of the story "Vendetta" in more ways than one.

Thank goodness there are still writers like Meriaza, for whom the act of writing isn't about strip-mining language of its words, or fill the story up with lame sex scenes right out of some chep paperback in name of erotica. It is autors like Meri for whom a well-placed interaction between various characters is still a thing of importance that can only enhance the stark reality of their actions, the motivation behind those actions and finally, the repercutions of those actions. Thank goodness there are still stories like this where a man can bare his soul, exploring with emotions, and go all the way to the end of where it takes him. This story, is of the genere that is prevalent in movies made in Hong Kong with loads of blood shed and action , but what makes this story unque is the suspense wowen in the story by the autor so brilliantly that even when we know where the story is leading still the readers are stuck to each and every chapter upuntill the last update is posted for which, the credit goes to the autor who it seems when started writing the story knew what the readers were expecting of him and made sure none were disappointed. This story is a clear example of 'perfection' in writing an original action-suspense with each update clearly thought out a million times and then some more. The thrill quotiont of the story clearly demonstrate the grip of the author over the subject and the clear time and effort going into keeping the story on the faster track all thru till the end. This story isn't just about the violence or bloodshed; it's about making the reader feel off-balance and as if something isn’t quite right till the very end and even then the readers remain divided about who was right or who was wrong ?

In the end, I would just like to say that Meri shows that he is one of the best and unique writers of this forum , who not only has a vivid imagination but lots of literary talent to give words to this imagination, that too in such a way to keep the audiences awed and wanting for more and there is no word of praise for the autor and the story big enough to demonstrate how good both are and all that can be said is Meri we are waiting for your next masterpiece..............................................................
