Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 in Chennai on Saturday. When it comes to RCB, they have been somewhat of an under-achiever in the tournament with not a single title under their belt despite having big names for most of the seasons.

Ahead of this season, they added more quality to their side in the form of Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis and India batsman Shivam Dube. Along with the new recruits, RCB will also be welcoming its celebrated duo - Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers - who will surely be aiming to add the IPL title to their already illustrious careers.

Here’s a look at Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Predicted XI for the match against Chennai Super Kings -

Virat Kohli

The Indian cricket team skipper has been the top performer for RCB in the last few seasons and a lot will be expected from him when he takes the field against Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener.

Parthiv Patel

The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman will contribute to the left-right batting combination at the top of the order along with Virat Kohli. Patel is known for his stroke-play and it will be his job to go after the bowlers in the powerplay.

AB de Villiers

The flamboyant batsman from South Africa scored 282 runs in 10 matches at an average of 31.33 and a strike rate of 162.06 in the recently concluded Mzansi Super League and he will be looking to improve on his form.

Shimron Hetmyer

The West Indies international is one of the most exciting debutants of this season and considering his pedigree as a power hitter, RCB will be expecting big things from the youngster.

Colin De Grandhomme

The New Zealand international will be expected to take the place of Marcus Stoinis who is currently in UAE as part of the Australia squad that takes on Pakistan in the ODI series.

Shivam Dube

RCB paid a massive Rs 5 crore for Shivam Dube in the IPL auction and with a brilliant run in the Ranji Trophy season, the 25-year-old from Mumbai will be another of their destructive batting options in the middle order.

Washington Sundar

Sundar did not have a good outing the previous IPL season but he remains a brilliant all-rounder option for Royal Challengers Bangalore and the management will be giving him a few chances at the start of the season.

Nathan Coulter-Nile

Nathan Coulter-Nile struggled to take wickets in the ODI series against India but he is well versed with the local conditions and have been proven to be a lethal bowler in the Indian Premier League.

Umesh Yadav

The Vidarbha fast bowler was in top form during this year’s Ranji Trophy and played a key role in guiding his team to the title. RCB will be expecting a lot from him as a good show can book his spot in India’s World Cup 2019 squad.

Yuzvendra Chahal

82 wickets at an average of 23.56 and a strike rate of 18.18 - The records speak for themselves when it comes to Chahal and the wrist-spinner has been a mainstay of the RCB attack in the last couple of years.

Mohammad Siraj
The youngster make a valuable addition to the playing XI and although RCB have a good bowling option in Kulwant Khejroliya, Siraj is expected to get the nod in the opening match of the season.
