Adultery My Friend Wants My Mother

Regarding Gautham, author "Lousy1995" in his "My Friend Wants My Mother" story "Chapter 1: The Heat of Chennai" wrote: [Gautham. Just the mention of his name brought a complicated mix of feelings to Vinay's chest. They had been friends since they were five years old, their families having lived in the same neighborhood before Gautham's parents moved to a different part of the city. They had gone to the same college, sat on the same bench in classes six through ten, shared tiffin boxes and secrets. Gautham had been the bold one, the leader, while Vinay had been content to follow. Even now, although they saw each other less frequently due to Vinay's college schedule and Gautham's work, there was a bond between them that years had not eroded.

But lately, Vinay had started to feel a distance growing, not because they argued or fought, but because they were becoming different people. Vinay was focused on his studies, determined to get a good degree and a stable job, maybe an MBA after graduation. Gautham, on the other hand, had finished his twelve standard and declared that he was done with education. He had started working at his uncle's real estate agency in T. Nagar, helping with property dealings and commissions. He had also, Vinay knew, developed habits and attitudes that sometimes made Vinay uncomfortable.

Gautham had discovered the gym two years ago, and he had transformed his body from the skinny boy they had both been into something else entirely. He was muscular now, with broad shoulders and arms that strained against his shirt sleeves. He worked out obsessively, spending two hours every evening at the local gym near his house, and he had developed a swagger, a confidence with women that Vinay both admired and envied. Gautham talked about women constantly-their bodies, what he wanted to do with them, what he had done with them. He claimed to have slept with multiple women, married women mostly, and he described these encounters with a graphic detail that made Vinay blush and look away.

Vinay himself had little experience with women. There had been a girl in his tuition class in twelfth standard that he had liked, but he had never worked up the courage to tell her. He had kissed a girl once, at a college fest, a quick, awkward peck behind the auditorium that had left him feeling more embarrassed than excited. Compared to Gautham's tales of conquest, Vinay felt like a child, inexperienced and naive.]
Most readers feel that Vinay should spend his leisure time with his mother, Mrs. Madhu, and—without her knowledge—secretly keep an eye on her using technology. With his father Rajesh's help, Vinay could quickly purchase a bike to commute to college; he could then drop his mother off at her office in the morning and pick her up after work. If Mrs. Madhu wanted to stay out late citing office training or other reasons, Vinay could insist on accompanying her. This approach would gradually diminish Gautam's influence over Mrs. Madhu and strengthen the bond between mother and son; even if Mrs. Madhu still wished to maintain a relationship with Gautam, she would be compelled to reach an understanding with Vinay at any cost. There is no need for revenge, as Gautam is soon to marry a woman chosen by his parents. Alternatively, Mrs. Madhu could form a lesbian relationship with her neighbors, Mrs. Padma and Mrs. Lakshmi, as a substitute for Gautam.

I have been impressed by wxxxx's logical analysis and advice.
