Having fully understood the reason for his problem, Kathir asked with a new hope, "What is the treatment for this, Doctor?"
The doctor began to explain. "Kathir, just pills and medicines alone won't be enough for this. Your treatment plan will be in three parts. The first thing is 'Male Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy'. This is a therapy to manually relax your tight muscles."
"Second, 'Reverse Kegels'. Generally, Kegel exercises are taught to tighten the muscles. But what you need is reverse Kegels. That is, we will teach you how to inhale and relax the pelvic muscles."
"Third, 'Neuro-tuning' and psychological treatment. Your nervous system is always in that 'Fight or flight' mode, right? These are exercises to change that and make your brain and body understand that you are actually safe."
The doctor continued with a small sigh, "As far as India is concerned, it's easy to find pelvic floor physiotherapists for women. But finding a 'Male Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist' who gives treatment to men is very difficult. But fortunately, we have one in our hospital itself. It might take up to a maximum of one year to be completely cured. But, you will feel a huge difference in your body within just a month of starting the treatment. In about 45 days, all your main problems will leave you."
"Kathir, another important thing," the doctor became a bit serious. "You can continue going to the gym. But, until this treatment is over, you need to make some major changes to your workout."
Kathir listened carefully.
"First thing, you should not do Heavy Squats and Deadlifts at all. Because, when lifting heavy weights, you will unknowingly clench your pelvic muscles tightly. That will put your treatment in reverse. No Leg press or Core workouts (Crunches/Planks) for now."
Sandhya asked, "Then what kind of exercises can he do, Doctor?"
"He can do upper body workouts. But, there is a very important rule, Kathir. While lifting weights, for any reason, you must not hold your breath (No Valsalva maneuver). If you hold your breath, your pelvic floor will lock up. You must lift any weight only while breathing normally."
The doctor continued further, "Similarly, you shouldn't do cycling. Sitting on a cycle seat will directly compress your pelvic nerves. Instead, you should do a lot of Yoga stretches. Especially the 'Butterfly stretch', 'Happy baby pose', and 'Deep resting squats' going very deep without any weights. All these will expand and relax your pelvic muscles well."
Kathir nodded as if he understood. "Definitely Doctor. I will do exactly as you say," he said.
Then Kathir hesitated a bit and asked a very innocent question.
"Doctor... so will my organ become bigger when the treatment is over?"
Hearing this question, the doctor smiled slightly. Sandhya also bit her lip and suppressed her laughter.
"Kathir," the doctor said, laughing. "Every man wishes for his organ to be very big. But whatever their true natural size is, that is what it will be. Once this treatment is over, that true size of yours will be fully revealed."
The doctor continued encouragingly. "You yourself told me... that in your younger days, your organ used to be quite big and you could pee very far. So, once your muscles relax and the inner root comes out, you yourself will feel proud looking at your true size. You don't need to worry at all."
This gave Kathir immeasurable happiness and the feeling of having been reborn.
Later, the doctor gave him a schedule for when he had to come for his physiotherapy and treatment. Kathir and Sandhya thanked the doctor wholeheartedly and left the room.
Coming outside, Kathir was floating in boundless happiness and satisfaction. That extreme happiness and excitement caused adrenaline to secrete in his brain, and the very next second, he felt the urgent urge to pee. Realizing 'how true the nervous system game the doctor mentioned is!', he immediately went to the restroom in the hospital itself, peed, and returned.
Both came to the car parking lot. As Kathir started the car, he looked at Sandhya and asked, "Bhanu... at least today, shall I drop you off right at your apartment? Why should you struggle by taking the metro?"
Sandhya softly declined. "No Kathir. Just drop me off at the metro as usual. I'll go from there. I have no problem."
"Okay Bhanu," Kathir said, and steered the car towards a metro station convenient for Sandhya.
There was silence in the car for a while. Breaking that silence, Sandhya asked, "Kathir... what does your father do now? How is the relationship between you two now?"
Kathir was silent for a moment. His hands gripping the car's steering wheel tightened slightly. "He passed away from lung cancer two years ago, Bhanu," he said in a heavy voice.
Sandhya turned to look at him with shock. There was sympathy in her gaze.
Kathir traveled back into his past. "He was brutally beating me only until I joined college. Once I finished my studies, got a job, and moved out of that house... he completely stopped even scolding me."
"Is that so?"
"Yes. But we never spoke normally like a father and son. However, whenever I went home, he would inquire about me affectionately. But he would still show the same anger and have the same fights with my mom. When I fell in love, he was the one who fully supported me, stood at the forefront, and conducted the marriage."
Sandhya looked at him in surprise. "Even with so much distance between you two, he was the one who supported you?"
"Yes Bhanu," said Kathir, and explained how he understands his father's mindset today. "His mother passed away when he was very young. His father also passed away a few years later. With no one to show him affection, he grew up like an orphan, a bit wildly. That's why whenever he got angry or tense, not knowing how to handle it, he would show it on me and my mom."
"You mentioned you have a younger brother. How did your father behave with your brother?"
"Things changed a bit when my brother was born. He was very affectionate towards him since childhood. He only used to beat me the most. Because my job is in Bangalore, I wasn't at home. So I didn't know immediately that he had gotten cancer. During his last days, it was my brother and mother who took care of him. I wasn't even by his side when his life departed, Bhanu..."
Kathir's voice broke now. "When I went to my hometown and saw him... the moment I saw his body, I wailed and cried without even realizing it. No matter how much he beat and tortured me in my childhood... he is my father after all! It was only that day I understood that the affection for him was deep within me. That's why I miss him a lot now, Bhanu."
Hearing this, Sandhya's heart also felt heavy. She realized that fully understanding someone meant knowing not just their flaws, but their wounds as well. She reached out, rubbed his shoulders supportively, and offered him a comforting silence.
