Ajay woke up with a heavy, throbbing head. The previous night’s celebration had left its mark.
He turned his head and found Meera sleeping beside him wearing nothing but the yellow Anaavaran panty.
Her bare breasts rose and fell slowly with her breathing.
The emerald pendant still rested between them.
A small noise in the room made her stir.
She opened her eyes, still half-asleep.
Ajay pulled her into a warm hug, pressing her nearly naked body against his chest.
She melted into him without resistance, soft and familiar.
A few minutes later Navya entered carrying three cups of coffee.
She took in the sight of Meera’s bare back and the way Ajay’s arms were wrapped around her, but said nothing about it.
“What’s the plan today?” she asked simply, also said the news paper and media are not talking anything about the arest yesterdy as if nothing has happened.
Ajay accepted the coffee with a grateful nod.
“The mission isn’t over yet.
The arrest of Vikram and Shankar hasn’t appeared in any media.
Today we move on the remaining associates.
There’s a gathering they had arranged — a party at the same farmhouse.
We’ll take them all there.”
Meera looked up at him.
“Do I need to be there?”
Ajay shook his head and kissed her forehead.
“Not required, dear.
You take rest.”
That evening Meera sat in front of the television.
The news channels had finally broken the story.
A major operation had resulted in the arrest of the kingpins Vikram and Shankar.
In a coordinated follow-up raid at a private gathering held at the same farmhouse, dozens of their associates had also been taken into custody.
The list included senior officials, businessmen, and several well-connected names.
Meera watched the scroll of names carefully.
One of them made her sit up straighter.
It was a name she recognised from years ago — one of the targets of the old raid back in their native place.
The same raid that had been compromised and failed because of her mausi’s interference.
She stared at the screen for a long time. He was also part of Vikram and Shnkar. Ajay knew him as corrupted but nobody knew he was part of such a big nexus.
In a strange way, that earlier failure had been necessary.
If that operation had succeeded then, the larger network might never have been fully exposed.
The entire nexus — the one that reached all the way up to Vikram and Shankar — would have remained hidden. Now it was finished.
