Friday morning.

Vicky had arrived from Bangalore. Even though his face looked slightly tired, there was a kind of search in his eyes. He lay down next to Sandhya and slowly put his arm over her. But Sandhya said, "Not now, Vicky," shook his hand off, turned away, and lay down. Vicky felt disappointed.

It was around 11 o'clock.

Sandhya and Vicky were in their room, working on their laptops. Vicky's eyes kept darting towards the room door and Sandhya. He was wondering if he should close the door and invite Sandhya to bed.

Just then, Divya entered Sandhya's room carrying two bowls of fruit salad.

She was wearing a beautiful chudidhar with a shawl, looking very elegant. Seeing her, Vicky's eyes widened.

"Thanks, Akka," Sandhya said, looking up from her laptop.
"Thanks, Anni," Vicky said, staring intently at her face.

There was a clarity on Divya's face. The fear and guilt from yesterday were nowhere to be found today. It was evident from her gaze that she was fully prepared for Sandhya's plan. Sandhya understood this too.

"Vicky, thanks a lot for bringing toys for the kids. They are playing with them so happily," Divya said casually.

"It's okay, Anni," Vicky said. His gaze lingered on her eyes for a few seconds before moving away. Divya smiled at him beautifully, said something to Sandhya, and left the room.

The very second Divya left the room, Vicky looked at Sandhya with a kind of daze, grabbed her hand, and pulled her.

Sandhya immediately shook his hand off. "What is this, Vicky? I have work. I'm going to sit outside and work for a while," she said, taking her laptop and moving to the upstairs hall.

There on the sofa, Divya and Dinesh were sitting and eating fruits.

Seeing Sandhya, Dinesh immediately got up, said, "Sit here, Anni," making room for her on the sofa, and brought a chair from Divya's room to sit opposite them.

Divya asked, "Are you very busy with work, Sandhya?"

Sandhya laughed and said, "Nothing major, Akka. I'm free now."

Continuing, Sandhya asked, "I forgot to ask. How is your fever now, Akka?"

Divya replied, "It's fine, it's cured now, Sandhya."

Dinesh looked at Sandhya hesitantly and said, "I have a doubt, Anni, can I ask?"

"Ask, da..."

"Yesterday you told me how brothers should be. You said they shouldn't fight amongst themselves over women. But, in the Mahabharata, how did the five brothers share Draupadi and still remain so united?"

Sandhya looked straight into Dinesh's eyes, piercing them, and asked with a faint smile, "How do you think?"

Dinesh thought for a moment and said, "Maybe I think they didn't have sex with her."

Sandhya laughed out loud. "If they didn't have sex, then how did Draupadi bear five sons for the five of them, da?"

Dinesh blinked in confusion.

"They did have sex. But, it wasn't a group sex scenario like you imagine," Sandhya started explaining.

"As soon as it was decided that all five of them should share Draupadi, Sage Vyasa laid down some strict rules for them. Draupadi would be with only one of them every year. When she was with one, no one else was allowed to enter that room. If they did, they had to go on a 12-month exile (pilgrimage). Once, when Draupadi was with Dharma (Yudhishthira), Arjuna was forced to enter the room to get his weapons (Gandiva). Even though Dharma and Draupadi were ready to forgive him, Arjuna said 'a rule is a rule' and went on the pilgrimage."

Sandhya continued. "Draupadi was born of fire. Because of that, after being with one husband for a year, before going to the next husband, she would perform 'Agni Pravesham' (walking through fire). It's a belief that by doing so, she would transform into a new woman again. This is how the cycle kept continuing. That's why, if there is a Draupadi Amman temple in our towns, a 'Fire Walking Festival' is definitely held there once a year. That is a symbolic reference to Draupadi's Agni Pravesham. It is their belief that for those who walk on the fire like that, their past sins are washed away, and they get a feeling of being reborn."

Dinesh, surprised, said, "Wow, I didn't know any of this."

Sandhya smiled. "In the Mahabharata, everything is told to us only on the surface. But inside, there are many things about sex and human psychology. Some stories in it are major taboo triggers."

Divya was also listening with interest.

"Even though Draupadi lived with five men, her personal favorite for romance and sex was Bhima," Sandhya said, as if telling a secret. "Among the five Pandavas, the most handsome was Nakula. But Draupadi had immense love for the brave and valiant Bhima. During their exile, they couldn't properly follow this one-year rule. During that time, Draupadi mostly stayed with Bhima."

"That's why, to avenge the humiliation she faced, only Bhima fulfilled her vow. He killed Dushasana and Duryodhana, and tied Draupadi's hair with their blood."

Hearing all this, Dinesh and Divya looked at Sandhya with great amazement. In that upstairs hall, through the stories of the Mahabharata, their feelings of lust and secret plans began to flare up once again. While Vicky suffered in solitude inside his room, outside, Sandhya was chatting normally with Divya and Dinesh.
