“Every failure. Every success. Every frame of plasma I’ve ever captured.” Selvam’s mouth curved. Not quite a smile. Something drier. “It’s more interesting than it sounds.”
“I believe you.”
She did not look away. Did not glance toward her members. Did not perform the calculus of reputation or management. She held his gaze and let the silence build.
Behind them the deck continued its wind-down. Lisa laughed at something Summer drew. Rosé leaned closer to the napkin. Jisoo and Vanitha refilled glasses, conversation easy. The remaining guests clustered near the exits, voices carrying fragments of market cap and reusability.
None of them turned toward the rail.
Jennie’s silver ring caught light one final time. She turned it slowly on her finger and met Selvam’s eyes with the particular intensity of someone who had made a decision without needing to announce it.
“Yes,” she said. Quiet. Clear. “I would like that very much.”
Selvam nodded once.
The coastal night pressed against the glass. Smoke still rose from the landing zone where the fireball had been. The countdown clock on the far wall had already reset to new numbers.
