Adultery Dad's Enemy Made My Mom Heartless (COMPLETED!!)

UPDATE - 1

MY POV

Five months slipped by in a blur of shifting routines, fundamentally reshaping the rhythm of our household. My father had boarded his flight to Dubai just four days after the farewell party, leaving behind a home that felt jarringly quiet. For the first week or two, the silence in the living room was almost disorienting; the heavy clinking of ice tumblers, the simmering workplace grievances, and the lingering smell of evening whiskey had vanished overnight, replaced by an unfamiliar, tranquil calm.

At first, my father tried to maintain a dutiful presence across the miles, calling our landline and my mother’s phone every single evening to recount the glittering skyline, his new corporate perks, and the demands of the regional branch. But within a few weeks, the calls began to thin out. Daily check-ins dwindled to once every three or four days, then stretched into a perfunctory Sunday call, until eventually reducing to barely two hurried conversations a month.

What struck me most was my mother’s complete indifference to this widening gulf. She never waited by the phone or expressed the slightest resentment over his growing absence. Whenever his name did flash on her screen, their conversations were remarkably brief and mechanical. She answered his inquiries with cool, practiced politeness, providing brisk updates about my college semesters and my little brother’s college schedule before wrapping up the call in under five minutes, stepping away without a hint of longing.
