Adultery Who Watches The Watchmen (continued)
#91
Menaka was exactly where he had left her, lying on the mattress, completely naked. She had arranged herself carefully—her legs slightly apart, her arms stretched above her head, her body open and inviting. Her eyes were half-closed, her lips parted.

She expected him to come to her. She expected him to take her. She expected him to reclaim her in the old way, the Mumbai way, the way she had been craving for months.

"Come here," she whispered, her voice husky with desire. "Come and take me. Make me yours again."

Dara stood in the doorway, his expression unreadable. He didn't move. He just watched her.

She reached out a hand toward him. "Dara... please. I need you."

Still he didn't move.

"Take me," she said again, her voice growing more urgent. "Fuck me. Make me forget them. Make me remember who I belong to."

He took a step forward—and then stopped. He looked at her, his eyes dark and complicated, and something flickered across his face.

"Not yet," he said quietly. "I'm not ready."

"Not ready?" Confusion flickered across her face. "Dara, I—"

"Sit up," he said. "Sit up and wait."

Menaka blinked, her confusion deepening. But she did as he said, pushing herself up to a sitting position. Her breasts swayed, her body still slick with the evidence of what had happened.

"Dara, what's going on?" she asked, her voice uncertain now. "Why are you—"

He didn't answer. He just walked to the corner of the room and sat down in the plastic chair, his hands clasped in front of him, his eyes fixed on the door.

"Just wait," he said. "We're not alone."

Menaka stared at him, her mind racing. "What do you mean? Who else is coming?"

He didn't answer. He just sat there, watching the door, his face a mask of stone.

She opened her mouth to ask again—and then she heard it.

Footsteps. Multiple sets of footsteps. Approaching the shed.

"What—" She looked at Dara, her eyes wide with confusion. "Who is that?"

Dara didn't answer. He just watched the door.

The footsteps stopped outside. A moment of silence.

Then the door swung open.
