Adultery A Husband and Wife’s Playful Texts Turn Into a Complicated Affair [COMPLETED]
Chapter 157 : Jay's Protection

The whole situation felt like a cruel déjà vu. Nikkitha had once desperately tried to escape marriage, claiming Jay loved her and that they had gotten married. Now, here was the same stepmother, once again pushing her back into it — this time demanding legal proof of their marriage.

She looked at Jay helplessly. One glance at his eyes told her exactly what he was thinking. He leaned in close and murmured in her ear, “Just tell them we’ll provide the legal marriage certificate.”

Nikkitha stared at him in disbelief. Why does fate keep choosing Jay for me, again and again? she thought. And why does he still insist on staying in my life? Am I really worth all of this?

Before she could respond, Jay spoke up confidently. “Madam, we just got back together after some misunderstandings. We hadn’t thought about registering again so soon. But if you really want legal proof, we’ll do it. We would’ve done it anyway — especially now, for our child.”

While Nikkitha was still trying to process the sudden turn, the stepmother’s eyes gleamed with malice.

“Child?” she said with a mocking smile. “I have a surprise for you, madam. That child he claims isn’t even his. Unlike what your mother wanted for you, Nikkitha has been careless. She’s been having an affair with a colleague named Tharun.”

She slapped several photos onto the table — pictures of Nikkitha and Tharun getting into the same car.
“I suspect everything here is fake. Even the child probably isn’t his.”

The sudden escalation left both Jay and Nikkitha stunned. But Jay quickly recovered. He slammed his hand on the table and stood up.

“You bloody filthy woman! How dare you throw dirt on my wife? She is not that kind of person. Tharun is just her friend. I know there’s nothing going on between them. He only gave her a place to stay when I threw her out in anger one day.”

The stepmother laughed coldly. “What a beautiful story. If that’s true, then prove it. Do a DNA test. If you can prove the child is yours, I’ll withdraw the case and hand over all the assets. Deal?”

Jay didn’t even hesitate. “Deal.”

“Fine,” the stepmother said. “We’ll halt the case until the baby is born. I’ll be watching both of you very closely. No one can escape the truth. I know Nikkitha is in the wrong — she doesn’t deserve to walk away with those assets.”

Nikkitha could'nt beliving the words being shared before her. She stood idle, not able to move a bit.

Jay caught her hand and take her back to home

Back home, Nikkitha felt completely surreal. She turned to Jay the moment they were alone.

“How could you say that so confidently? That you’d prove it with the DNA test?”
Her voice trembled. “Tharun has been with me more than you have, i mean he had sex with me multiple time.
You’re going to lose this in front of everyone.”

Jay pulled her into a gentle hug. “Relax. The baby is still in your womb. We have months. We’ll figure something out — maybe we can handle the reports, like we can bribe or fake it. We’ll plan it properly.”

No Jay, i dont want to see you loose your face again, i cared about your dignity, respect.

Jay stopped her.. i know but i cannot see you lose your respect before the person who hate you most, you gave you hard time.

Nikkitha said i know, but you cannot succumb to all her motives, she wanted us to marry.. that too legally by registering, do you even know hw long cruel path one had to go for divorce? you need to wait for year again..

Jay said i will take care.. what before us is important.

Nikkitha sighed, guilt heavy in her chest. “But I’m worried. I’m dragging you into this again. This is the second time you’re marrying me just to prove something for my sake. I’m so sorry.”

Jay smiled softly and cupped her face. “Listen. This is my payback time. You protected my honor in front of my family. You selflessly helped build that house and gave it to me so I could keep my dignity. You exposed my uncle’s hidden motives and tore off his mask. You even risked your own name to sabotage his plans.”

He looked into her eyes. “Now you’re in trouble. I know how important those assets are to you. Don’t you think I’d take the same risk for you? You deserve this.”

“And about the marriage,” he added with a small shrug, “we already did one fake one. This doesn’t change anything. Let’s just go with the flow and see what the future has in store for us.”

Nikkitha let out a weak laugh. “So what now? We’re getting legally married for the second time… and faking it again for the second time.”

They both burst into laughter, the tension easing for a moment. That night, after ages, they shared the same bed again.
