Chapter 140 - At-least i Wont hurt him
The hospital staff gently asked the small crowd of colleagues to leave the premises to avoid disturbance. Nikitha, however, stayed back. She sat alone in the quiet waiting area while Sharmi rested inside the room.
Hours later, a nurse approached her. “The patient has woken up. You can go in if you’d like.”
Nikitha hesitated but eventually entered the room. Sharmi was sitting up in bed, looking pale but stable. When she saw Nikitha, she didn’t bother thanking her or even offering a polite smile.
“You’re awake,” Nikitha said hesitantly. “You need to be careful from now on… you’re pregnant.”
Sharmi’s eyes widened in pure shock — a happy, disbelieving kind of shock. Without wasting a second, she reached for her mobile and dialed her husband. Nikitha stood there awkwardly, watching the scene unfold. She knew the child in Sharmi’s womb was most likely Jay’s, yet Sharmi had chosen to inform her husband first.
After the emotional phone call ended, with Sharmi’s face glowing with joy, Nikitha couldn’t hold back.
“You could have called Jay first,” she said quietly.
Sharmi’s expression hardened instantly. “It’s none of your business. Don’t act like you care about Jay now.”
Nikitha was taken aback but refused to stay silent. “You never know anything about me, my mindset, or my feelings.”
Sharmi let out a bitter laugh. “Yeah, I don’t know. But I know how Jay felt. How broken he was. How truly he loved you! That man uttered your name even when he was having sex with me. And you threw away a man like him for your new love.”
“Enough, Sharmi,” Nikitha snapped, her voice shaking. “I just felt Jay deserved to know. Nothing else. I don’t want to continue this conversation.”
But Sharmi wasn’t done. “Yeah, I fear starting a conversation with you too. You’re not just dumb — you’re selfish. You never had proper
communication. You messed up everything. The last two times I tried to bring you and Jay closer, you ended up going further with Tharun. Worst of all, you had sex with Tharun while Jay was lying in the hospital after his accident.”
Sharmi smirked coldly. “No one is happy when you mess up. In my eyes, you’re a selfish person who thinks whatever you do is rightful for everyone. You can’t see when things are falling apart around you.
You broke Jay’s heart. Your presence and your decisions made his parents stay away from him. When things were finally getting better and his parents started warming up to you, why did you hurt them too by walking out of their family? Now tell me — are you even leading a happy life?
You made Tharun’s parents fight with him. Worse, I heard he had a lover already. Have you ever tried to listen to the other person’s thoughts and stories before forcing your righteousness and promises on everyone? Have you heard Jay? Have you heard Jay’s parents? Have you heard Tharun’s parents? Have you heard Mithra?
Everyone except you and Tharun is unhappy. That’s the truth. At least I’ve given Jay a better place than you did. It may not be the kind of love you gave him, but my space won’t hurt him the way you did.”
Nikitha stared at her in disbelief, she uttered..... “I’m sorry…Looks like you Jay than i have imagined.”
Sharmi laughed bitterly. “Again? I never said I love him. But who would not love a person like Jay? He stayed calm. He looked out for you even after everything. He loved you even when he witnessed things he should never have seen. After every heartbreak. Poor Mithra might be facing the same fate right now.”
Nikkitha could not understand what it is meant by "He loved you even when he witnessed things he should never have seen".. but before she process. Sharmi moved from her place.
Sharmi slowly got up from the bed, gathered her things, and walked toward the door. Before leaving, she turned back one last time.
“I may not be perfect, but at least I’m not destroying the people around me.”
With those final words, Sharmi left the room, leaving Nikitha standing alone, completely stranded in her thoughts — shaken, guilty, and more confused than ever.
