Chapter 139 - 3 Months and the unexpected news.
Nikitha never expected Tharun to be so serious about marriage so suddenly. She had wanted a fresh start — a beautiful life built slowly, with proper blessings and stability once everything fell into place. But Tharun’s impulsive urgency after their Mumbai trip left her unsettled.
The next day, they returned to Bangalore. For several weeks, Tharun’s mood remained off. He was restless, sometimes distant. Under his strict instructions, Nikitha stopped attending any calls from Mithra and never called her back. Surprisingly, Mithra also stopped trying after their return.
During those weeks, Tharun kept persuading Nikitha to register their marriage quickly, even without their parents’ support. But Nikitha remained determined. Deep down, she didn’t want Tharun to suffer the same fate Jay had endured — a broken relationship with his parents because of her. She had already seen how family rejection could slowly poison a marriage, and she refused to let that happen again.
Tharun, however, didn’t stop. He began travelling to Cochin almost every week, trying to convince his parents. But their stance remained firm — they wanted him to marry Mithra. Almost three months passed with no progress. The tension in their relationship grew.
One evening, during a major company event, an unexpected incident occurred.
Nikitha and Sharmi were both working on the arrangements. Though their relationship had been cold and distant for a long time, they maintained professional civility. Suddenly, in the middle of the event, Sharmi fainted and collapsed.
Despite their strained friendship, Nikitha’s concern took over. She quickly called for help and, with the assistance of a few colleagues, rushed Sharmi to the nearest hospital. Tharun was busy with an important client meeting, and Jay was away attending a company workshop.
At the hospital, the atmosphere turned dramatic. Nikitha waited anxiously outside the emergency room. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally came out and approached her.
“Are you a family member?” the doctor asked.
“Not exactly… but I’m her colleague. She doesn’t have anyone here right now,” Nikitha replied, worried.
The doctor nodded and delivered the news with a small smile.
“Sharmi is pregnant. Congratulations to her. We’ve stabilized her. It looks like she’s around 10-12 weeks along. She fainted due to low blood pressure and weakness. She needs proper rest and care.”
Nikitha stood frozen, completely stunned.
Pregnant.
The word echoed in her mind. She knew immediately what this meant — Jay had been helping Sharmi conceive. The reality hit her like a wave. A strange mix of emotions flooded her — shock, discomfort, and an unexpected pang of something she couldn’t quite name.
She quietly sat down on the hospital bench, processing the news. The same Sharmi who had once interfered in her life was now carrying a child that was likely Jay’s. Life had come full circle in the most unexpected way.
Nikitha stared at the floor, lost in thought, wondering how Jay would react when he found out… and how this new development would affect everyone around them.
