Your time, effort, and consistency become so normal to them that they start taking everything you do for granted.
They begin to think, "Whether we ask or not, he'll give update us every day anyway," and that mindset slowly turns into a lack of respect. that's when appreciation slowly disappears and respect starts to fade.
I've experienced this personally. I spent countless hours giving regular daily updates and putting in genuine effort, expecting nothing more than basic respect in return. Unfortunately, even that became too much for some people to offer.
Because of that, I've decided that I no longer want to entertain or put extra effort into people who don't appreciate or respect what I do. Respect should always be mutual, and if it's missing, there's no point in continuing to give your time and energy.
From now on, I'm choosing to invest my time where it's valued and my efforts where they're respected.
I can continue—I'm just take my time because I've learned that not everyone deserves unlimited access to my time, attention, and effort.
Respect should never be expected as a favor. It should be the minimum anyone receives when they genuinely invest their time and energy.
So, I'm choosing boundaries over being taken for granted, self-respect over people-pleasing, and peace over unnecessary expectations.
Some readers don’t realize the difference. When writers start a story and disappear for weeks or even months without responsibility, people keep asking them for updates again and again. But when someone like you consistently gives daily updates without even giving that chance, it’s not right to take that effort for granted.
As readers, we should at least have a little awareness and respect. Consistency like yours isn’t easy, and it deserves appreciation, not ignorance.
Your effort truly stands out, and people who genuinely understand will always value what you’re doing. Keep going, but also take care of your time and peace.
