At the same time the tourism shop was quiet in the morning. Ajay sat behind the counter reviewing some brochures while Navya (still disguised as Gaurav) organized a few files nearby. The bell above the door jingled as a couple walked in — a man in his mid-thirties and a young woman who looked vaguely familiar to Navya. Navya felt she may have seen her before but not certain.
Navya’s heart skipped a beat. She had seen that girl before — once at the office as temporary staff or a maid. This was no coincidence.
She subtly nudged Ajay’s foot under the counter and gave him a quick warning glance. Ajay understood immediately.
The couple said they were looking for a romantic honeymoon package. Ajay switched into full professional mode, smiling warmly as he pulled out several attractive brochures and began explaining options.
Navya played along, adding details in her practiced slightly deep voice. But her senses were on high alert.
The man started casual conversation while pretending to browse.
“So, where are you both from?” he asked, looking between Ajay and “Gaurav.”
They gave the rehearsed answers Ajay had taught her. When the man asked about a specific area, Navya answered casually, keeping her responses vague but believable.
To reinforce the “sleazy Gaurav” image they had discussed earlier, Navya slowly stretched her leg under the table, aiming to brush flirtatiously against the girl’s leg — something that might later be reported as inappropriate behavior.
But her aim was off.
Her foot accidentally touched the man’s leg instead.
The man froze for a split second. He looked at “Gaurav” with a strange, knowing expression — a mix of mild disgust and confirmation.
So the rumours are true, he thought. This guy is gay. That’s why he’s staying so close with Ajay — at home and at the shop.
He quickly wrapped up the conversation. They took a couple of brochures, said they would think about it, and left the shop faster than expected.
As soon as the door closed, Navya looked at Ajay.
“They were may be testing us,” she whispered.
Ajay wondered why now after all this months. Do they have some doubt ? in that case Meera will be in danger.
