At this stage, whatever Jay does isn't going to make Nikita surrender or come back. If she ever chooses him again, it has to be because she realizes on her own what she truly feels—not because of anything Jay keeps doing.

That's why I feel Jay doesn't always have to be shown as emotionally broken, constantly sulking, or carrying this sense of hopelessness. Regret is understandable, but there's a difference between remorse and losing your entire personality.

Jay has done enough so far, he has had his fun with two women for a while and now when Nikita is having fun every one has a problem with that? 

Jay needs to suffer, experience pain, only pain can teach him and make him learn from his mistakes, for whatever reason he was not able to respond to Nikita all this time, even though makes sense from his standpoint because of his breakup, Nikita suffered for it but he can't be like that in future too so only genuine pain and grief from losing her will only make him better.. its for good and for a good climax. If he starts having fun now, and having sex now, its not growth in his character, its downfall.
