Adultery A Husband and Wife’s Playful Texts Turn Into a Complicated Affair
Chapter 118: Fractured Trust & Silent Deals

Sharmi stood frozen for a few seconds after the uncle stormed out. The door slam still echoed in the house. She had witnessed everything — Nikitha’s bold, almost reckless admission, the uncle’s stunned rage, and Jay’s quiet compliance. Her mind was spinning.

As soon as the uncle’s car disappeared down the street, Sharmi turned toward Nikitha, eyes wide with disbelief and anger.

“What the hell were you thinking, Nikitha?!” she burst out, voice sharp. “Don’t you know this will damage his reputation? What if that man spreads this story in the village? If you want to break things with Jay, fine — do it within these walls. Why drag his relative into it and ridicule Jay in front of him like that?”

Nikitha remained silent, her expression unreadable.

Sharmi turned to Jay, her voice softening with concern. “Jay… I’m sorry. She didn’t look like the kind of person you deserve. She’s poisonous. Look how she just threw you under the bus like that. I came here to take care of you, but standing in the same place as her disgusts me. A part of me wants to leave right now… but another part feels bad for you. I feel restless leaving you with her. Just be careful, okay? Call me anytime you need anything. My house is always open for you. My husband is an understanding person.”

Jay gave her a tired but grateful smile. “Thank you, Sharmi. This is my place. I won’t leave Here..”
Okay understandable, stay here. But just answer my question Jay, she is throwing mud on you before your relative, cant you stop it and defend youself that she is lying.

Jay looked at her and said, she never asked me anything so far, this is the first thing she asked me, how could i not do that.

Sharmi looked at him with pity and frustration, then glanced back at Nikitha.
“She is actually asking for your life, Jay. That’s what she wants. Beware.”

With that, Sharmi left, the door closing behind her with a heavy click.
The house fell into complete silence.

Nikitha didn’t bother responding to Sharmi’s outburst. She simply looked at Jay for a moment, then said quietly, “Thank you, Tharun,” before walking toward the door with her phone already to her ear. Jay assumed instantly who she was calling.

He didn’t say anything. He simply went back to his place on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

Later that evening, Nikitha returned with grocery bags. She moved around the kitchen quietly, preparing dishes, while Jay was flodded with thoughts, he could not believe how Nikitha had thrown him before Sudagaran. Hours later, his thoughts was disturbed by nice aroma, smell of cauliflower soup and ginger chicken. The familiar smells filled the house, stirring old memories.

When dinner was ready, she gently called out, “Jay, dinner is ready.”

They sat across from each other. Jay looked at the carefully prepared food, then at her face.
“Why are you cooking something special like this?” he asked quietly. “What do you want?
Why are you suddenly nice to me?”

Nikitha served him calmly. “I just thought of cooking something special. Nothing else.”
Jay’s voice was low but pointed. “Do you do this on purpose so that my parents will look out for a new bride for me?”

Nikitha paused, then met his eyes. “If that was my intention, instead of instigating that, I would have asked you for a divorce, we need that before looking out a bride for you.”

Jay stared at her.

Then looking at him, Nikitha said... “As you bring up that topic… we must proceed that too as soon as possible.”

“No,” Nikitha said firmly. I don’t want anything to do with divorce right now.”
Ask me anything but not this.

Nikitha asked "Ask you anything?
Jay looked at her and said. “Whatever you want except Divorce..”
Nikitha thought for a second and said. “Go to your village next week for the function.”

Jay’s expression hardened. “Why do you want me to get humiliated there too?”
Nikitha looked at him steadily. Think positive,  trust that something good will happen to you.

He looked like lost in deep thought investigating the new request.
Nikkitha said,  I won’t ask for divorce for some time if you do this.”

Jay was silent for a long moment, struggling to understand her intent.
Finally, he nodded, when he realised she wont stress about divorce for sometime he said, “Then it’s a deal.”

The silence that followed was heavy. Both of them ate without looking at each other, each lost in their own thoughts — wondering how much longer this complicated dance could continue.
