Chapter 110 : Return to Reality
A complete day had passed with nothing significant happening beyond hospital routines. They carefully maintained Sharmi’s version of events with the company and hospital staff. The next morning, Jay was discharged.
While Sharmi went back to the hotel to pack everyone’s belongings, Tharun and Nikitha returned to the villa to gather their own things.
Nikitha was visibly hesitant as she folded clothes. “Are you really okay with me going to Jay’s place?”
Tharun nodded calmly. “Not at all. But I understand.”
She turned to him, searching his face. “Don’t you feel insecure? Or scared? Jay and I are still legally married… Sometimes I feel like you’re overacting — trying to be too nice. It feels almost impossible… like something you’d only see in dramas.”
Tharun walked up behind her while she was still folding clothes.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her gently against his chest.
“Because I know you,” he whispered near her ear.
Nikitha turned her head slightly.
“What do you know about me? I thought you would say you trust me so much.”
Tharun smiled softly. “I do trust you. But that trust comes with truly knowing you.” He continued, his voice warm and sincere, “When you tried so hard to defend and honor a marriage that was born out of convenience and not love… I know you would honor a relationship you willingly promised yourself to even more. You never truly left Jay. You never gave up on him easily. Even now, you want to take care of him. You are not the kind of person I should doubt. I’m giving you the space, the respect, and the trust you deserve.”
He kissed the side of her head.
“We may not be married yet, but in my eyes, you are already my love. You are my wife.”
Nikitha was deeply touched. She turned fully in his arms and looked into his eyes.
For a long moment, she simply said, “I’m sorry… Let him recover first. I will slowly speak about the divorce. I wont prolong it.”
She made the promise with sincerity in her voice.
Tharun’s gaze turned hungry. Nikitha understood the shift in his mood instantly. She closed the distance between them and kissed him deeply. For ten solid minutes, she let him embrace her, devouring her mouth with passion and need. When they finally parted, she whispered against his lips, “I promise you… I will be yours from now on.”
He hugged her tightly, holding onto that promise.
That evening, everyone boarded the flight back to Bangalore. The journey was heavy with unspoken emotions. Tharun remained gentle, carefully avoiding any show of possessiveness over Nikitha in front of the others.
When they landed back in Bangalore, Tharun went to retrieve his car from the parking area while Sharmi got into hers. Tharun gently advised Jay not to drive in his condition, but Jay was stubborn and insisted on taking the wheel himself.
He had expected Nikitha to drive for him. Instead, she quietly chose to sit in Tharun’s car.
Tharun looked at her with slight surprise. “If he is not driving, why don’t you drive for him? Why are you sitting in my car?”
Nikitha sighed and replied honestly, “He is ill. We already gave him the option that we would transport him in our car, but he wanted me to drive him. it means he looks you like a villain, he doesn't want a help from you. Don’t I understand this simple thing? And more importantly… I don’t want to give him the feeling that I still love him and care for him the way I used to. I want to show him, you are important to me. For the next few weeks, I have to stay with him and take care of his health and food. This is one of the only ways I can clearly tell him — don’t hope and get hurt. I’ve already chosen you.”
He and that dumb Sharmi are a team now, she would spout nonsense like she will make him think my care to love.
Let him take our help or let him suffer.
Tharun looked at her for a long moment, then nodded. “That’s fine. But he is still sick.
So you want him to suffer her, while on drive?
Nikitha said, no i didnt want to suffer him, let him just park the car and get into our car.
Tharun said, Don’t make things more complicated. Don't try to make me someone respectable before him, he will hate that idea, i appreciate the way you want me to be respected .. but don't act childish.. just see this whole scenario from his shoe. He looks determined, with what you said, he wont come to our car.
And with you behaving like this, he would try to prove world he doesnt needs any ones help... and he will start driving the car to home.. What if he gets pain while driving? His elbow shouldn’t be moved. Go ahead and drive his car.”
Sharmi and Jay were watching their car from a distance. They saw Nikitha step out of Tharun’s vehicle and walk toward Jay’s car. She calmly asked Jay to move to the passenger seat and took the wheel herself.
Sharmi watched this development carefully as she followed them. Jay was determined not to let Tharun remain the “nicest guy” in anyone’s eyes. Not ready to take any of his help.
Nikitha had made her choice clear. She had choosen Tharun and she will make decisions that only benefit the one she choose. She doesnt want o give wrong idea to Jay and also she didn’t want Tharun to get hurt or be painted as the villain. The decision she had taken over the past few days weighed heavily on her heart, but she was done wavering. She wanted change. And she was determined to show it.
Sharmi, observing everything, finally understood — Nikitha was no longer someone who could be taken for granted. The Sympathy games may not help. She had become clear and firm about what she wanted.
But, Only Jay truly grasped the deeper meaning behind her actions. She had always given him space, always allowed him chances. He had misused them repeatedly. From the very beginning, when she allowed him into her life, it was because she had truly wanted him. That was why she had ignored so many red flags.
Now, as they reached home, Jay felt the full weight of that realization settle on his shoulders.
The challenges ahead had just become far tougher.
