Ok the main crux of the problem is the behavior from Jay on the night when she kissed Tharun first time, everything else followed later is only her misunderstanding between her and Jay or Sharmi's games, none of those are true and can be revealed later...
Now lets talk about Jay's behavior...
1. He bangd her if you ask me that night, without her consent...he aggressively had sex with her
2. He called her his property and wife
3. He compared her with Anjali in rage that he didn't leave her so why would I leave you being my wife.
I would give benefit of doubt to Jay here for below reasons...
One thing is clear, he felt blast of emotions for the first time he saw Nikita kissing some one other than him...it could be jealousy, it could be love, it could be his fear of losing her....Whatever it maybe he behaved such way for the first time proves that he couldn't take Nikita kissing Jay while he happily was fucking Anjali all this time, I think that was the moment for the first time Jay felt stab in his heart proving to him that he loved her all this time and never realized it...he took her for granted and always had a feeling she belonged to him so never took notice of her in a way he should for a wife...That realization changed him overnight, he kept saying sorry to her and kept saying he loved her which was obviously unbelievable for her as his actions in the past never showed her love, nor his actions at that time proved she is only Anjali to her....but one thing she forgot is ever since she was not Anjali to him, he proved to her over and over.....If she was just Anjali to him, he wouldn't challenge to her that he knows she loves him or he would say he loved her and would prove it...He has no need or desire to possess Nikita just like an object or for sex, he had enjoyed sex with her for 3 yrs, so its not about just jealousy, its about realization that he has been with her all this time, been with her as companion and during that time with out realizing he fell in love with her, only he realized it little too late. Question Jay's love over and over is her mistake again and again, there is no doubt in any one here that Jay's love for her...though one mistake he did is to compare her with Anjali, his jealousy over Anjali is bad, I do not know why he cared if Anjali went to Tharun.

Nikita's life story is so unreal, she is in it from the beginning, when she first started expectations over Jay, was that conveyed? She cooked for him, took care of him, took care of their house like a wife but she needs to ask herself , what did she do to show to Jay that she was expecting more from him than friendship? Even if she fought with him on Anjali it would have opened his eyes and first time would have seen her differently and would have understood his mistakes. When you wouldn't take one step in the direction of love but expect your partner to take 10 steps and when he doesn't then blaming him is not correct.
"It was the time I almost thought we were becoming a couple" Girl you didn't even realize it at that time, she is explaining things to Tharun like she felt it, she was there in that moment, she experienced love for Jay, did she? If she did, then she did not act on it, she did not discuss it...expecting other person to feel her5 emotions when she herself bottled them up and never give a hint is insane.
"But then I reminded myself - I wasn't his real wife. This was marriage of convenience" Yes it was a marriage contract but the moment when things change for you, shouldn't you discuss it with Jay? Aren't you guys friends that share everything and built everything then the most important thing that needed discussed was never part of your conversation, at least as soon as Jay realized it he proposed you and told many times that seeing her with Tharun breaks his heart. What did you do all these months?
"For almost a year, it was torture for me. I never raised a single concern" Who asked you to? If seeing Jay with Anjali was torture to you, you should have walked out, atleast that would have made Jay realize that she is my real wife and she felt bad because I was fcking Anjali...she would have got her love by now from Jay.
"Sex between us was regular, pure heat and passion, then it was duty and routine" It will be same with Tharun after 3 years lol
"Deep inside I would have been happy if he had fought for me, but when he spoke about it was just a news story , I felt disappointed" Common he was sad agreeing to Tharun, Jay actually fought that day with Tharun and feared saying that news to you on how you would react. you just do not know the full story.
"I realized he had never truly seen me as his real wife" he did the moment he saw you kissing Tharun, he realized it.
"My wanting only increased, the urge you showed, the special attention you gave me...I had never received from Jay" You guys started relationship with a contract, habituated to each other over convenience, so love can only come out with fear of losing each other...it wouldn't come from extra caring and attention as those parameters were subdued with a contract right from the beginning. Why would she see Jay while fucking Tharun? Why would she still love Jay madly? Why would she feel like her life ended when she saw Jay in accident? Forget about Jay for a second, she herself can never live without Jay...even if she tried, she will only make Tharun's life miserable as her memories and love for Jay will never die. There is no happy closure here...
Both Nikita and Jay loved each other and never realized it...Nikita wanted love but she was looking outside for it, Any other character in any other story would have realized her feelings that she loved Jay as soon as heart is paining when she sees Jay with Anjali but here our lead character Nikita ignores it, if it pains then she loves him and she should have confronted him and expressed her feelings....With out that step expecting things to change, expecting Jay to reciprocate her feelings would be just a blame put on him for no reason.
