I also get your point about Jay, he’s been carrying a lot and it’s affected how he comes across, especially in Nikita’s eyes. If Tharun goes through something similar, it could parallel Jay’s journey in a meaningful way rather than just creating a rivalry.
That said, I wouldn’t go as far as saying Nikita doesn’t deserve either of them. I think she’s still figuring things out, and while that confusion can hurt people around her, it also makes her human. Not everyone recognizes what they have right away, especially when emotions are complicated.
At the end of the day, I feel like the story works best if none of them are painted as completely right or wrong, just people trying (and sometimes failing like Sharmi) to handle difficult feelings.
