Chapter 6: The Village Confrontation

Back home that evening, the tension between Jay and Nikitha was thick. The hospital confrontation with his uncle had left Jay restless and irritable. They argued for nearly an hour.

“You shouldn’t have spoken up like that!” Jay said, pacing the small living room. “Now we’re trapped. We have to go to the village festival with actual proof, or I’ll be humiliated in front of the entire village and my father.”

Nikitha stood her ground, arms crossed. “If I hadn’t spoken, you would have stayed silent and let him walk all over you. We have a real chance here, Jay. This is not just about proving him wrong. This is your opportunity to reconcile with your family and show them you’ve built something on your own.”

Deep down, Jay knew she was right. A part of him wanted this confrontation. He wanted to prove himself. He wanted his father’s respect back.
“Fine,” he said finally, sighing. “Let’s do this. But we need to be prepared.”

The next few days were hectic. They sat together at night and calculated their finances. With Jay’s growing salary, they had a few lakhs in savings, but after the rental deposit and monthly expenses, it wasn’t enough for a proper house. They desperately wanted stability — something that screamed success when they returned to the village.

After searching multiple sites and visiting a few properties, they finally froze on a beautiful individual villa — ground floor plus first floor — in a decent locality near Whitefield. The price was high, but they decided to go for it.

They approached the bank with Jay’s salary slips, appointment letter, and bank statements. Impressed by his earnings, the bank gave them an initial sanction letter for a substantial home loan.

With the documents in hand and a rented car, Jay and Nikitha drove down to the village for the festival.

The moment they reached Jay’s family home, his mother’s eyes filled with tears. She pulled both of them into a tight embrace.

“Jay… my son… and my daughter-in-law,” she whispered emotionally, welcoming Nikitha with genuine warmth for the first time. She served them coffee and sweets, asking many caring questions.

But Jay’s father remained cold and distant, sitting on the porch with a stony expression.

The maternal uncle had been waiting for this moment. As soon as Jay presented the documents — the house agreement and salary proofs — the uncle’s face changed from smug confidence to visible shock. Everything was real. Jay was truly earning in lakhs. The humiliation plan had flopped spectacularly.

Rage boiled inside the uncle. He quickly changed tactics.

“So what?” he sneered loudly, turning to Jay’s father. “He has purchased everything on EMI and heavy loan. Look at him — he’s still a debtor running back to you. He bought this house using bank money, not his own. He will eventually come crawling back for your help to settle it. He’s using this girl’s drama as an excuse to enter the family again.”

Jay’s father, who had always trusted his brother-in-law more than his own son, nodded slowly, his face hardening further.

“You could have planned better,” the father said coldly, looking at Jay with disappointment. “Is this the grand plan your wife gave you? Running away, marrying a random girl, and now coming back with loans and documents to show off? How despicable.”

The words stung deeply. Jay’s fists clenched tightly.

Before he could respond, Nikitha stepped forward, but Jay gently held her back.
He looked his father straight in the eyes.

“I won’t turn my back and run this time,” Jay said firmly, his voice steady despite the anger. “I will pay off every single rupee of this house with my own money. Don’t think I’m weak or small. I have enough credibility to stand on my own now.”

Jay's mother tried to stop him.
But he said, dont worry mom i will come back, only after proving myself..

He took Nikitha’s hand firmly in his and turned to leave.

On the long drive back to Bangalore, Nikitha looked at him with determination.

“I’m sorry I pushed you into this,” she said softly. “But we fell into your uncle’s trap. He just wanted to ridicule us publicly. Let me look for a better job. I’ll contribute my full share. We’ll clear this loan faster. I’m with you in this, Jay. Completely.”

Jay nodded, gripping the steering wheel tightly.

Just then, a notification pinged on his phone. He glanced at it while Nikitha held the phone up for him.

It was an official email from MX Century Gaming Company.
