Chapter 46: Maya (Act 8)
Rahim climbed off the bike, his legs slightly unsteady after the ride. He took a moment to take in the serene beauty of the lake, the stillness of the water mirroring the sky above. The old fishing hut stood quietly on the rise, its weathered wood blending into the natural surroundings.
“This is incredible,” he breathed, his voice filled with awe. “Who does this place belong to?”
Maya smiled, a hint of pride in her expression. “It’s abandoned now. I found it by accident a few years ago when I was escaping… well, everything.” She walked a few steps toward the lake, her saree fluttering gently in the breeze. “No one comes here anymore. It’s peaceful, isn’t it?”
“It’s more than peaceful. It’s like stepping into another world,” Rahim said, his eyes scanning the landscape. He glanced at her, a question forming. “But isn’t it dangerous for you to be here alone? A woman by herself in such a secluded place…”
Maya chuckled softly, shaking her head. “The only danger here is getting lost in thought. I’ve never had any trouble. Besides, I keep myself alert. And sometimes…” she paused, her voice softening, “sometimes being alone is what I need most.”
Rahim nodded slowly, understanding dawning in his eyes. “I can see why. It’s beautiful, Maya. Thank you for bringing me here.”
They stood in silence for a moment, the breeze carrying the scent of the lake and the faint rustle of bamboo leaves. Rahim walked closer to the water’s edge, crouching down to dip his fingers into the cool surface. “It’s so clear,” he marveled, watching the ripples spread out from his touch. “I haven’t been swimming in ages. The last time must have been when I was a teenager.”
Maya tilted her head, a playful glint in her eye. “You should go for a swim. The water is perfect today.”
Rahim laughed, standing up and brushing his hands on his pants. “I’d love to, but I don’t have any swimming gear.”
Maya hesitated for a moment, then spoke with a slight awkwardness in her voice. “Actually… when I swim here, I… I don’t use any clothes. It’s just me and the lake.”
Rahim blinked, caught off guard by her admission. “You swim… nude?” he asked, his voice tinged with surprise.
She nodded, her cheeks flushing slightly but her gaze steady. “It’s freeing. No one’s around, and it feels natural. But if it makes you uncomfortable”
“No, no,” Rahim interrupted quickly, though his own face was warm. “It’s your place. I just… didn’t expect that.”
Maya looked at him thoughtfully, then made a decision. “Why don’t you join me? It’s not every day you get to swim in a place like this.”
Rahim hesitated, torn between propriety and the temptation of the cool water. Finally, he nodded. “Alright. But… could you turn away while I… you know…”
Maya smiled, amused by his bashfulness. “Of course. I’ll go first.” She walked a few paces away and began to undress, her back to him. Rahim turned his gaze to the lake, trying to focus on anything but the sound of fabric rustling behind him.
When she was ready, Maya stepped into the water, her figure illuminated by the soft light of the late afternoon. She turned to signal Rahim, her breath catching as she saw him struggling to avert his eyes. “Your turn,” she called out, her voice steady but tinged with excitement.
Rahim quickly undressed, arranging his clothes neatly on a rock next to Maya’s. He couldn’t help but glance at her exposed back as he stepped into the lake, the cool water sending a shiver up his spine. The tension between them was palpable, though neither acknowledged it directly.
The water was clear and refreshing, wrapping around them like a gentle embrace. Rahim splashed some water playfully in Maya’s direction, earning a laugh from her. They swam closer together, the initial awkwardness giving way to a sense of camaraderie.
As they moved through the water, Rahim couldn’t help but notice glimpses of Maya’s body...her back, her hips, and once, when she turned slightly, the curve of her breast as it emerged from the water. His heart raced, and he forced himself to look away, focusing instead on the rhythmic motion of swimming.
After a while, Maya gestured for them to leave the water. “Come on,” she said softly. “We should get dressed before it gets too late.”
Rahim nodded, his throat dry. He turned away as Maya stepped out of the lake, but he couldn’t resist glancing back once. His breath caught at the sight of her fully nude figure, her skin glistening with droplets of water. He felt a rush of desire but quickly turned away again, chastising himself silently.
Once dressed, they shared a quiet moment by the shore, the tension between them still lingering but unspoken. “Thank you,” Rahim said finally, his voice sincere. “This was… unforgettable.”
