Adultery His wife, Her secrets: Rain,Whiskey and Temptation (CH:55 HOT)
#44
The humid night air inside the car is thick, smelling of old leather, stale liquor, and the sharp scent of Shruthi’s damp hair.

Lokesh grips the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turn white, though the keys are still dangling from the ignition. He hasn't started the engine.

Outside the windshield, the quiet suburban street stretches out under the dim yellow glow of the streetlights. Somewhere out there in the dark, Karthik is running.

Chapter 21: Inside the Car: The Delusion Deepens

"Are you seriously not going to drive?" Shruthi asks, her voice cutting through the silence. She is staring straight ahead, her hands wrapped tightly around the purse in her lap.

Lokesh lets out a hollow, bitter laugh. "Drive where, Shruthi? Home? So we can pretend your best friend didn't just violate your privacy while my wife defends him?"

"He didn't violate anything!" Shruthi snaps, turning to him, her eyes bright with a volatile mix of alcohol and stubborn pride.

"Why are you making this so dramatic? It was an accident. The door was half-open, Lokesh. He was drunk out of his mind. He probably thought it was the guest toilet."

"Then why did he run?" Lokesh turns his head, his eyes burning into hers. "Why did he fake being asleep while I was screaming at you? Why did he bolt like a thief the second Divya called him out?"

"Because of *you*!" she fires back, her voice echoing in the cramped space of the car.

"Look at yourself! You’re looking for an excuse to be violent. He knew if he said anything, you’d lose your mind.

I protected him because someone had to be the rational one tonight. If you go after him, you’ll end up in jail, and for what? A misunderstanding?"

Lokesh stares at her, feeling a profound, terrifying distance opening up between them. He realizes she isn't just defending Karthik anymore; she is defending her own ego.

To admit Karthik did it intentionally means admitting she was looked at, degraded, and then fooled. Her mind simply refuses to accept the humiliation.

 In the Shadows: Karthik’s Exhilaration

Three blocks away, hidden in the shadow of a large banyan tree beside a closed storefront, Karthik is leaning against the concrete wall, panting heavily. His chest heaves, his lungs burning from the sudden sprint.
As his breathing gradually slows down, the panic begins to recede, replaced by something entirely different.

The adrenaline rush mutates into a dark, intoxicating high.

He remembers the sound of Shruthi’s voice echoing through the open front door as he ran into the night.

*He didn't do anything! He was drunk!*

A slow, crooked smile creeps onto Karthik’s face in the dark. He had expected total ruin.

He had expected a fistfight, the end of his social circle, and permanent exile. Instead, Shruthi had shielded him. She had turned on her own husband to protect *him*.

The innocence that had vanished inside the house doesn't return. Instead, a dangerous sense of invincibility takes root. He pulls his phone from his pocket.

No missed calls from Lokesh. No texts. Just beautiful, chaotic silence. He realizes he still holds all the cards.

The Morning After: Ganesh Arrives

The sky is a pale, bruised gray when a silver SUV pulls into Divya’s driveway. The headlights cut through the dawn mist, illuminating Lokesh and Shruthi’s car, which is still parked on the curb.

Ganesh gets out of the driver's seat, stretching his back after the long night drive. He bags his keys and walks toward the front door, frowning when he notices the tense, heavy atmosphere hanging over the house even before he steps inside.

He opens the front door to find Divya sitting at the dining table, a mug of untouched coffee between her hands.

She hasn't slept a wink. The living room side table is still overturned on the rug, a stark reminder of the midnight escape.

"Divya?" Ganesh asks, setting his bag down, his eyes scanning the messy room. "What happened here? Why are Lokesh and Shruthi still outside in their car?"

Divya looks up, her face pale, her eyes hard. She looks at her husband, the one stable force in the middle of a collapsing circle of friends.

"Ganesh," Divya says, her voice raspy from exhaustion.

"We need to talk about Karthik. And you need to tell Lokesh to get his wife out of our driveway before things get ugly."

The secrets of the night are turning into the fractures of the morning.
