Chapter 130 - The Arrangement
After dinner, Suresh quietly retired to the guest room without saying much. The weight of the day still sat heavily on his shoulders. Sneha watched him go, her heart twisting with concern. She followed him into the master bedroom a few minutes later. While Gowtham was still having his dinner.
They sat on the edge of the bed. For a moment, there was only silence.
“You’ve been quiet since you came back,” Sneha said softly, searching his face. “Is everything okay?”
Suresh forced a tired but warm smile. He reached out and gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, letting his fingers linger on her cheek for a second.
“I’m fine,” he murmured. “Just a long day. But you…” His smile turned playful as he looked her up and down. “You’re glowing like a newlywed bride today. Did you put on some special cream or something?”
Sneha let out a soft laugh, slightly embarrassed. “Stop it. I’m just in a good mood because you came home early and took me out. It felt nice… like old times.”
Suresh raised an eyebrow, teasing her. “Old times? Careful, madam. If you keep looking this fresh and happy, people are going to think I’m treating you too well.”
She playfully pushed his shoulder. “As if! You barely spoke two words during shopping. I had to drag conversation out of you.”
He chuckled, the sound low and genuine. “Guilty. But in my defence, I was distracted by how beautiful my wife looked in that new salwar. Every time you came out of the trial room, I forgot what I was thinking.”
Sneha’s cheeks flushed pink. She shook her head, smiling. “Now you’re just flattering me to avoid answering properly.”
Suresh leaned in closer, his voice turning lightly mischievous. “Flattering? No, no. I’m just saying… if you keep shining like this, I might have to start competing with Gowtham for your attention.”
The moment the words left his mouth, both of them paused. It was a risky joke, but Suresh delivered it with a small, tired grin, clearly trying to keep the mood light.
Sneha rolled her eyes and laughed, poking his chest.
“Very funny. As if anyone can compete with you.”
Suresh caught her hand and kissed her knuckles softly.
“Good answer.”
For a brief moment, the heaviness in his chest eased. Teasing her, seeing her smile — it felt like a small victory against the darkness swirling inside him.
Sneha blushed slightly, a small laugh escaping her.
Before she could reply, there was a firm knock on the main door.
Both of them knew who it was.
Sneha stood up, her expression turning serious. She leaned close to Suresh and whispered quickly, “I’ll try to deviate him tonight. After he sleeps, I’ll go through his phone and try to record his chats if there is any with that money transferred number...”
Suresh nodded and quietly shared the old lock code he had got from Gowtham himself long back. Sneha memorized it, then gave him a reassuring look before stepping out.
Gowtham was already waiting near the guest room door. He had heard every word of their hushed conversation.
A dark, dangerous smile touched his lips. Without wasting a second, he pulled out his phone and changed the lock code to a new six-digit pattern.
Let’s see how smart you really are, baby.
When Sneha stepped out, she found him already standing inside the guest room.
“I can’t do it here,” he complained, voice low. “This room feels too small, too uncomfortable.”
Sneha sighed. “It's small, but does it matter? Anyhow we will be on each other Sneha tried joking...”
Gowtham’s eyes gleamed. “No… we can do it in the master bedroom. Just tonight.”
“No,” she said firmly. “Guest room Nothing else.”
Gowtham shrugged, a smirk playing on his lips.
“Fine. My house, so I can't do it here.”
Sneha doesn't want to argue over the trivial matter, She said okay.. She opened the Master bedroom and gave Suresh a quick, silent reassuring glance before following Gowtham out. She said the room is too small, so we are going to his house. Suresh watched them leave, his jaw tight, lost in a storm of thoughts.
The moment they stepped into Gowtham’s house and closed the door, the atmosphere changed completely.
