Chapter 111 - Aditya the Kingmaker
Same day in the morning at V- Activate Group
The moment Suresh’s car entered the gate, the watchman stopped him with a respectful nod.
“Sir, your car can now be parked underground. I received instructions from the intercom.”
Suresh smiled faintly. The small privileges already made him feel like he had stepped into an elite circle — one he wasn’t sure he wanted to join.
When he parked in the underground lot, a man in a crisp black suit approached him silently and escorted him to a private elevator. The doors opened and Vinodhini was waiting for him.
“I would have come by myself,” Suresh said.
Vinodhini smiled elegantly. “Without this black card, no one can access the 12th floor, Since you’re just joining today, you’ll receive yours by evening. So I came personally.”
As the lift doors closed and they ascended, Suresh felt the weight of everything pressing on him.
When they stepped out onto the 12th floor, Vinodhini led him into a breathtaking cafeteria lounge, open-air design with a glass ceiling, a small infinity pool surrounding luxurious seating, and soft ambient lighting. She clapped once. A waiter appeared instantly, served them cold coffee and fresh pizza, then disappeared without a word.
Vinodhini looked at Suresh calmly.
“You must have hundreds of questions inside you. Let me give you a detailed view of what your work will be and the rules you must abide by. This alone will answer most of the doubts in your mind.”
Without leaving a break Vinodhni continued .
“Shall we begin?”
Vinodhini leaned back and began speaking in her calm, measured tone.
“Aditya is third-generation old money. His father built the original conglomerate in the 1980s–90s through ruthless industrial takeovers.
As time faded the methods to get failed by 2010, the group had hit rock bottom.
That’s when the young 20-year-old Aditya took over. At first, he tried fighting competitors head-on, they developed a product, and he added new features. Ten years passed. He earned money, but earned a name as a ‘wannabe’ who only copied others.”
Some even started mocking, this Wannabe is nothing without money, he is just controlling others with money and showing others findings as his, with cheap upgrades..
Vinodhini paused.
“He lost his patience. But the word kept ringing, control with money? !!!
He decided: Why fight them when I can control them? Let me do it for real, let me buy real talent with my money.
That’s exactly Five years ago, he built this 12th floor. It wasn’t mysterious like it is now — it started as a proper R&D centre.
His idea was simple: pick out real talents who could do genuine inventions and give them partner status.”
She smiled coldly.
“But it didn’t go the way he wanted. The first partner, Ravi, after the product was developed, claimed full ownership. He tricked Aditya behind his back and forged documents. Aditya looked like a fool before his other partners. Rage built inside him. He decided he would destroy everything Ravi took away from him, his money, his happiness, his name, and the credit.”
Vinodhini continued, “Luckily, Aditya had already begun mingling with Ravi’s family, even before he betrayed him. He slowly infiltrated it, seduced his wife, and made Ravi a laughing stock. More than the loss of money and reputation, the betrayal of his lovable wife was unbearable for Ravi.”
Sadly, Aditya got hooked on that kind of punishment ever since that incident.
She looked at Suresh directly.
“That first failure gave him a lesson. He realised that when he reached out to talents and persuaded them to sign, he never had the upper hand. The talents always got the clauses and documents in their favour. So he changed his path completely.”
Vinodhini gestured around the luxurious floor.
That lesson gave him an idea
Instead of him reaching for talents, he wanted the talents to reach him. Without an advertisement..
He turned this 12th floor into a mystery.
We have trusted men, mostly employees from our various verticals, who act as brokers. Their job is to identify young talents, watch them, befriend them as coworkers or through other means, feed them dreams of entrepreneurship, push them into financial trouble, and finally bring them here — desperate and willing.”
She smiled.
“This way, the talent feels he is the one in need. He comes to us for easy money and doesn’t read the papers carefully. The products will have full ownership under Aditya’s V-Group. The talent gets fame, cash, and is called a ‘founder’. Aditya’s company holds the upper hand — the brand and patent are technically his because the talent ‘sold’ it to him. Aditya leaves the company to the talent and doesn’t interfere… until or unless the talent steps on him financially or in ownership.”
Vinodhini continued, “The brokers or friends who tactically bring the talents here get royal treatment. A single successful product can earn crores annually — more than enough for both the talent and the broker. And one more thing — you will not be called a broker. You are officially a ‘Hand’. You are a puppet master who will make the talent dance according to your tune.”
She leaned forward.
“For Aditya, in the industry everyone is jealous of how he cracks new findings and innovations. They are in awe. That’s all Aditya wants. Basically, a win-win for everyone.”
Vinodhini paused, then added, “Now, coming back to the Talents… these steps alone cannot ensure loyalty. Sometimes they overstep.
If something goes wrong, Aditya wants them held accountable — monetarily and emotionally. He wants to know their weak points.
Sometimes the weak points are enough to make them fear and withdraw from what they are about to do.
So as a reason he learns about their personal lives.
He cannot knock on their door directly, so instead he or his people attend their family functions or invite them to company gatherings. Once in a while, he throws parties for staff and family members. He analyses people personally and records everyone’s weak points.”
She looked at Suresh.
“But he cannot do this single-handedly. It has many layers. First, his funded company bosses analyse and give him a list of trustable talents. Once they come in, they work for us. We test them by making them cover our dark truths. If they pass, they enter the 12th floor. If not, they work their asses off covering all the dirt with good pay till they retire.”
Vinodhini concluded, “The actual talent hunt begins only by the Hands. If Aditya or his funded company bosses attend an event, it means the person is under his radar — a potential talent is there.”
She smiled.
“So… you are now one of our Hands.”
Any Questions Suresh?!
Suresh absorbed everything in silence, then asked, “What if I couldn’t find talent? Is there any time period I should find one?”
Vinodhini shook her head. “No such time period. If you cannot find a talent, we will give you a list. Though a Hand’s role is to find talent, their primary goal is to use methods and lure the talents to reach us.”
Suresh asked the question burning in his mind, “Last day… the man and his wife in the parking…”
Vinodhini replied calmly, “He crossed Aditya by forging a document and looting money. So Aditya showed him what he can do. He planned it a month back.”
Suresh hesitated, then asked, “Is he a womanizer?”
Vinodhini smiled faintly. “He is a businessman, a conglomerator. He doesn’t have time for nonsense. Till now, he has touched women only whose husbands had to be punished.”
Suresh looked around. “So this is not a place for talents? Only for Hands or brokers?”
Vinodhini nodded. “Yes. You guys indirectly bring in the crores. We wanted to protect your identity while giving you an elite sense. Remember — when you reach talents as a Hand, they should not know you work at V-Activate. We will give you access to work with them in their company as a new employee. From there, you need to take the lead. You will be on the field. Once you successfully bring them here, you will slowly return to the 12th floor.”
She stood up gracefully.
“Any more doubts?”
Suresh shook his head. “No.”
Vinodhini smiled. “Then get ready for the party on Wednesday.”
