Chapter 88 - Interview Day
The wait at V-Activate Group headquarters dragged painfully.
Suresh had reached by 10:30 AM, but the interview process kept getting delayed. It was one of the biggest groups in the region, yet nothing seemed to be moving. The receptionist only asked candidates to enter their name and time of arrival — nothing more.
Time crawled to 11:30 AM. No one had been called yet. Around 15–20 candidates had gathered. Some boasted about their strong references, claiming the job was already theirs. At 12, one woman lost her temper and openly blamed the interviewers for wasting everyone’s time.
Snacks and coffee were served in the waiting lounge, followed by packed lunch boxes by 1 PM. The receptionist asked everyone to assemble again by 1:30 PM.
As the hours passed, frustration grew. Several candidates shouted at the HR staff and stormed out. One man said he needed to buy groceries and would return the next day if the interview was rescheduled. By 5 PM, only three people remained in the waiting area: Suresh, one other man, and a woman in her late thirties.
Suresh sat calmly through it all. Not because of interview or some strategy.. he just had a silent time for himself . .and exactly His mind was elsewhere.
How do I move away cleanly? When should I file for divorce? Should I wait until the new job is confirmed? How do I ensure Ramya doesn’t suffer?
He remained measured and patient, staring into space while replaying his marriage in his head.
A muscular man in his late thirties suddenly entered the lounge holding an interview file.
He sat down heavily in the chair next to Suresh.
“Damn traffic,” he muttered. “Is the interview still going on?”
Suresh snapped out of his thoughts. “You should register your name at the reception first. They’re strict about it. Don’t wait here clueless.”
This was the only thing he had said the entire day. The man nodded and went to the reception.
The woman near her said hi.. I'm Vinodhini Rakesh.
It seems you know to speak,, I'm seeing from the morning you only open your mouth now.
Every other throwing tantrums and leaving out?
You didn't want to go out?
she questioned.
Suresh said.. Until the staff says, we should not...
Suresh in his head, is only buying time here in the new atmosphere to try to calm himself and plan for his unknown next.
She continued.. sorry to bother.. but like a woman in the noon said, isn't the Time is Precious,
I'm surprised why you don't have an urge to ask them?
Suresh calmly said.. A group like this definitely know the value of Time.
If they are making us wait, there should be a reason.. We should honor it.
A few minutes later, the receptionist asked everyone to move to the next room as the interview would begin shortly.
Inside the room, only Suresh and the woman from earlier remained.
She smiled and started casually, “So where are you from?”
Suresh replied, “Bangalore. Just a 10-minute drive.”
“Like others said, do you have any recommendations or references?”
“I do,” Suresh answered calmly.
“Who is it? A big shot?” she asked.
Suresh gave a small smile. “That’s unnecessary. It’s just a reference. We never know who they will choose or why until they see if we are the right fit. From morning, many people boasted about their recommendations. If the person inside had to give jobs to all the recommended candidates, the company would crumble. A reference is just a visiting card — someone saying ‘I know this person, he may suit you.’ That’s it.”
After hearing this, the woman sitting nearby smiled and extended a sheet.
“I’m sure V-Activate Group doesn’t need your recommendation letter, because you’ve already been selected. This is your appointment order. The company chief personally reviewed the shortlisted profiles and approved you.”

“Without an interview?” Suresh asked, surprised.
She smiled. “All this time, we have been interviewing you.”
“Welcome to V-Activate Group. You can collect your access card from the lobby.
The staff will guide you next.”
Suresh went to the lobby and received his access card.
The staff informed him, “The CEO is waiting for you. Use the card to enter.”
Suresh felt a rush of happiness. In just one day, he had received an offer. he don't even know if the CEO is Men or Women. Going by what his boss said, with 15+ experience, the people the chief they call must be old.. He assumed he should leave a good impression on them.
As he swiped the card, the door opened to a big, luxurious, futuristic room.
The moment he stepped inside, he froze in shock.
The person sitting on the CEO chair..
Wait what? “You are the CEO?”?
