Chapter 78 – The Silent Decision
Sneha unconsciously dialled Suresh’s number while standing frozen in front of the college gate. Only after two rings did reality hit her — he was missing too. Her legs gave way. Right in the middle of the road, she dropped to her knees and broke down completely, crying uncontrollably. The phone kept ringing in her trembling hand as tears streamed down her face.
A few college staff members and the watchman came running.
“Madam, what happened? Are you okay?”
The warden panicked behind her. “Oh God! Someone has kidnapped the child!”
Just then, a familiar ringtone — the unique tone Suresh had set for his own phone years ago — started approaching from behind her.
Sneha turned sharply.
There he was.
Suresh was walking calmly towards the college gate with Ramya sitting happily on his shoulders, licking an ice cream cone.
Sneha’s heart exploded with relief. She ran towards them, snatched Ramya into her arms, and kissed her face repeatedly. Then, without thinking, she grabbed Suresh’s arm tightly — as if afraid he would disappear again. Her body was trembling with fear of losing him.
Only when she noticed the small crowd of teachers and watchmen staring did she realise what a scene she had created.
Ramya looked at her mother with innocent eyes. “Why are you crying, Amma?”
The warden exhaled in relief. “She thought someone had kidnapped you. She was panicking badly.”
Suresh simply looked at Sneha without saying a word.
Ramya cheerfully said, “Appa came early today! He took me to the ice cream shop!”
Sneha looked at Suresh, her eyes searching his face. The heavy guilt that had built up inside her chest suddenly lightened the moment she saw him safe.
“Where did you go?” she asked, voice still shaky. “Why didn’t you pick up my calls?”
Suresh didn’t answer immediately.
Flashback – Morning 6:00 AM
Suresh woke up to a devastating sight.
Sneha was sleeping peacefully in Gowtham’s arms, completely naked. Gowtham’s cock was still nestled deep inside her.
Out of the 9 rules he had carefully written, they had shattered 6. And Suresh realized with painful clarity that he himself had been a co-scripter in this destruction. He had enabled it. He had allowed it step by step.
He laughed bitterly inside. The remaining three rules? Rule 1 (only inside house), Rule 5 (no gifts), and Rule 7 (no outdoor sex). What’s the point of those anymore? They had already turned meaningless. The war was lost.
Disappointment in himself hit like a truck. He slowly slipped out of bed without waking them, dressed quietly, and left the bedroom.. He sat in the hall.. Flood of memories.. Disappointments. He realised only magic can save his marriage, or get her back to him.
After what he did, in last night , masturbating's to her love making with gowtham. He had no face to face her.. She may think low of me he thought..
He was strategically figuring out next...
Either I live as a complete cuck… or I walk away for some time.
Let her search for me.. Let her realize what she’s doing. I
If she still sees me as her husband, she’ll come looking for me.
He didn’t fully blame Sneha or Gowtham. Gowtham had simply used every opportunity given to him. But the real hurt was realizing that Sneha had willingly become a co-orchestrator after that first night at the hill station. The last few days had given him the bigger picture. He felt completely lost.
He thought, him acting like moving out now could be a trick in getting her back.. But he was not sure where he was going. He just needed to get away. At 6:00 AM he decided he must go for a long walk.
As he was about to leave the flat, he accidentally picked up Sneha’s phone (same model and colour, no password) thinking it was his. When he opened it to check routine good morning message, the latest chat with Gowtham stared back at him:
Gowtham: I will come in the evening. Let’s show him a good show, darling.
Sneha: Okay darling ❤️
He scrolled up. Dozens of messages. During the rule discussing sessions. Sneha acted as Gowtham’s mouthpiece, helping modify and twist rule Suresh had set.
That was the final betrayal.
He know Sneha kind of co-orchestrating it for Gowtham, but he didnt think there was not even a honesty..
That moment, he decided, i dont want her.. i dont want this family.. Let me move out.. i dont want any fucking thing from here..
He kept her phone on the place as it is and took his mobile.
he moved out disappointingly looking back once the house, which was once a sign of love and harmony. Now filled with filth, lust, betrayal and dominance.
He wandered the streets and parks for hours, restless and broken.
He didnt answer any call she had dialled. He didnt even look at messages she had sent.
In the afternoon, he sat on a bench and saw a couple fighting nearby.
A husband and wife were arguing..
The wife was shouting, “You should have left me!”
Why are you still hanging on me ...
The husband replied calmly, “We have a kid.
You are clueless now, you trust someone and not me,
not just that, you are not even thinking for yourself..
If I leave you now, you will destroy yourself and the child.
I’m not ready to leave yet… but when you get your senses back,
When i feel you would take care of kid better, that time
I will.”
That single conversation changed everything for Suresh.
He realised he couldn’t abandon Ramya. He would stay in the house for his daughter’s sake. But emotionally, he would detach himself completely.
He knows he was manipulated by Gowtham, Sneha had acted like a slut and co-orchestrated, she may even be victim like him!
But he cannot correct Gowtham or Sneha!
He cannot ask them to change.
But he can correct himself.
Change for better.
He would rebuild his confidence, his self-respect, and his dignity —
not for Sneha,
not to compete with Gowtham,
but for himself.
This marriage is no more working.. with that final betrayal.. he decided to continue stayin in house.. he was not ready to inform her about decision..
He thought telling her about divorce, she would try to justify her action
She would try to act like he ended with Gowtham.
Gowtham may even try something else and drag it nasty.
If legal issues were pinning around, it would be hard for Ramya too.
He hated drama
His plan..
Stay in Marriage, protect her daughter, When right time comes (Most probably when Gowtham gets married).
He would ask her for Divorce.
Present Time
What happen why you didnt attend my call, Where you went without informing me?
“I had some urgent work,” Suresh said calmly.
“From the office?” Sneha asked, still holding his arm.
“Yes.”
“You should have at least attended my calls… I imagined the worst.”
Suresh looked straight into her eyes. For a brief second, all the betrayal, the secret messages, and her willingness to team up with Gowtham flashed in his mind.
“I’m tired,” he said quietly. “You drive. Let me sit with Ramya.”
He took the back seat with his daughter.
Ramya climbed onto his lap and started playing happily with him.
Sneha sat in the driver’s seat. After a long silence, she spoke softly, “You should not have sent her to the hostel…”
Suresh didn’t reply but he responded to himself in mind.
Back then I sent her because I thought she was blocking our sexual life, he thought bitterly. Now I realise I need to bring her back. But not until Gowtham leaves. I will not let my daughter grow up in this toxic environment.
The car moved silently toward their flat.
Sneha kept glancing at the rearview mirror. Suresh was smiling and playing with Ramya, but something in his eyes had changed permanently.
He looked… distant. Detached.
And for the first time, Sneha felt a strange, cold fear — not that Suresh would leave her, but that he had already left her emotionally.
