Chapter 16 – The Confrontation
Suresh could barely focus on his work the entire day. His mind kept replaying Gowtham’s words, the positive loop, the hill station story, and the possibility of finally getting hard again. He wanted the roleplay badly. He also wanted Sneha’s consent, her understanding, even if it was reluctant. He was even ready for mild flirts from Gowtham if that’s what it took.
As soon as he reached home that night, he went straight to Gowtham’s door.
“Come early da… around 8. Let’s talk to her together,” Suresh whispered urgently.
Gowtham shook his head firmly.
“No, anna. This is between you and Anni. Don’t involve me yet. Talk to her directly first.”
An hour later, there was a sharp knock on Gowtham’s door.
When he opened it, Sneha was standing there, her face tight with anger and confusion. She was still in her simple maroon saree from evening.
“Come to our house,” she said coldly.
Gowtham followed her. The moment they entered, the atmosphere felt heavy. Sneha had clearly already rejected Suresh’s idea.
She turned to both men, arms crossed.
“Suresh told me everything. He wants to involve Gowtham in our roleplay. He even said during his drunk state he told you everything and that you were supportive.” She looked at Gowtham with sharp eyes. “What exactly is going on between you two? My daughter is only 10. In 10 years she will be of marriageable age. If Suresh is shameless enough to discuss this with you, how can you entertain such talks?”
Gowtham stayed calm, but inside he was calculating fast. He wasn’t sure how much Suresh had revealed.
He spoke softly, acting innocent and concerned.
“Anni… I’m not interested in any of this. I felt bad that anna was suffering. He blurted everything when he was heavily drunk that night. Even today he asked me to join the discussion. I told him clearly — this should stay between husband and wife. I never wanted to come between you two.”
Sneha still looked suspicious.
Gowtham continued, shifting the entire blame smoothly:
“I respect both of you a lot. Whatever you decide inside your bedroom is your matter. I’m just a neighbor. Please don’t think I have any wrong intentions.”
While saying this, Gowtham gave a quick, subtle wink to Suresh behind Sneha’s back — a clear signal: Take the blame. Make me look innocent.
Suresh understood immediately.
He lowered his head and spoke hesitantly:
“Sneha… it’s my fault. I was the one who brought it up. Gowtham has been nothing but respectful. He even advised me to talk to you properly.”
Sneha looked between them, still angry and confused, but slightly less hostile toward Gowtham.
Gowtham took the opportunity and acted like the good, decent guy.
“This is between you two. I don’t want to be part of any misunderstanding. I’ll leave you both to talk.”
He turned and walked out, closing the door gently behind him.
As soon as he was back in his flat, Gowtham closed his eyes and smiled darkly.
Perfect.
The first crack had appeared. Sneha was angry… but the seed was planted. And Suresh had just thrown himself under the bus to protect Gowtham’s image.
The game was now truly in motion.
