Chapter 116: The Voluntary Trap
Anandhi no longer had to worry about the computer itself. The password-protected files were something new — she had no idea what they contained, and that terrified her even more. But her biggest fear right now was the browser. If Rahul had left any logged-in accounts or history, Suriya could see everything.
She needed to check.
“I need to work on something urgent,” she said softly, avoiding his eyes. “Can I use the PC for a few minutes?”
Suriya leaned back in his chair, watching her with calm intensity. “Of course. Go ahead.”
Anandhi sat at the desk. Her fingers trembled slightly as she moved the mouse. She didn’t bother opening any folders. Instead, she clicked straight into the browser.
The history was completely clean. No saved passwords. No logged-in profiles. It felt like a brand-new PC.
A wave of relief washed over her. MY goodness… nothing is there for me to worry.
She quickly logged into her mail account and pretended to type a few lines, making it look like she was working. After a few minutes, she logged out carefully and closed the browser.
All the while, her mind was racing with a single thought:
I have to stay close to him. Closer than before. If my presence slows him down, then I must never let him pull away. I need to befriend him, gain his trust, listen to every word… and stop whatever plan he has against Rahul.
Another call came in while she was still in the room. Suriya answered it, deliberately keeping his voice just loud enough for her to hear.
“Hmmm… yeah, I know,” he said into the phone. “Plan B… No, Plan A doesn’t work anymore.”
Anandhi’s ears perked up. She pretended to be busy with the mouse, but every word felt like a knife.
Suriya continued casually, “I cannot think clearly right now. Let’s speak later.”
He hung up.
Anandhi’s heart pounded. Plan B? Against Rahul? He really is planning something… and I’m the only thing slowing him down.
She rose from the chair, legs feeling heavy. She was about to step out when she stopped herself.
No. This is my chance. I have to start now.
She turned around slowly and looked at Suriya.
“Last time… I couldn’t come to your room properly because Rahul didn’t have time,” she said, her voice softer than she intended. “If you are okay… let’s have a talk now.”
Suriya looked at her for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Inside, a quiet satisfaction bloomed.
She came to me.
He had wanted this exact moment. He knew her curiosity, her fear, and her guilt would eventually push her toward him. And now she was voluntarily walking into his trap, believing she was the one taking control.
Suriya leaned forward slightly, his eyes never leaving hers.
“Sure,” he said, his voice low and calm. “Come. Sit.”
Anandhi hesitated for a fraction of a second, then moved closer and sat on the edge of the bed, her hands folded tightly in her lap.
The air in the room felt thicker. Suriya watched her with dark, patient eyes — the hunter who had just lured the prey exactly where he wanted her.
Anandhi took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart.
She had come to protect her family.
But Suriya already knew she would come… and he was ready to see how far she was willing to go.
