Chapter 106: The Uninvited Guest
The family returned to their town after the Business trip. Everyone carried their own nervousness, but Rahul was quietly happy inside.
He kept replaying Suriya’s speech — the way he had publicly thanked them, the casual mention of the “girl” being ready, and the light-hearted invitation joke. Rahul convinced himself that Suriya had truly moved on. Madhavan shared the same thought during their private talk: “He seems focused only on business now. He might even have someone in his life. He didn’t seem bothered about us at all.”
Anandhi, however, could not take things lightly.
The moment they reached home, a heavy weight settled on her chest. While Rahul unpacked with a relaxed smile, Anandhi’s mind kept replaying every word from the Expo. She saw her husband acting normal again, but all she could think about were his misdeeds against Suriya — the changed records, the orchestrated legal troubles, the cold calculation. She couldn’t shake the guilt.
Two days later, while Rahul was at work, Anandhi secretly searched the entire house. She went through old files, drawers, and hidden folders. After hours of searching, she found the proof she feared: documents showing Rahul had deliberately altered the proposal requirements. He had taken the original document and replaced it with a duplicate that made Suriya look responsible for the defective supplies. It was clearly a trap.
Anandhi’s hands trembled as she held the papers. Without hesitation, she took them to the backyard and burned them completely, watching the flames consume the evidence until nothing remained but ash.
Later that evening, she went upstairs to the room that had once belonged to Suriya. The helpers cleaned it regularly, but she had stopped entering it ever since his arrest. Today, when she stepped inside, memories flooded back — the long, shameless sex marathons they had shared in this very room. The way she had moaned his name, the way he had taken her again and again.
She stood there for a long time, breathing heavily, trying to calm her mind.
We took a decision. I need to stand by it. I should not oscillate.
Even after a year, they had never thrown Suriya’s belongings out. Rahul didn’t care much, but Anandhi had insisted on keeping everything exactly as it was. She believed one day Suriya would come back to collect his things, and she wanted to respect that. The helpers washed his clothes once a month so they remained fresh.
Deep down, she still had feelings for him — feelings she could never fully name. Even today, they made her suffer.
Rahul, on the other side, was busy following up on the SAN Fitness proposal. He kept everything ready for an immediate start.
That evening, a call came.
It was Suriya.
“Rahul, I’m coming tomorrow. I’ll reach early morning. Let me take a shower, spend some time with the kids, and then we can sit and discuss business.”
Rahul looked at Anandhi, who was folding clothes nearby. He said quickly, “Wait, let me call you back.”
After cutting the call, he asked her, “Should we allow Suriya to stay in our house?”
Anandhi looked at him for a long moment and replied softly, “It’s your call.”
Rahul hesitated. He didn’t want to complicate anything. “I’ll book a room for him somewhere nearby. He can come here to freshen up and have breakfast with the kids.”
He called Suriya back and informed him about the arrangement.
Suriya didn’t react much. “Better,” he said simply.
Both Rahul and Anandhi went to bed that night carrying heavy guilt.
Rahul knew the house was originally Suriya’s share. He had tricked him into transferring it to Anandhi while his accounts were frozen. Now he was reluctant to let him stay, but his mind also flashed back to the intense chemistry Anandhi and Suriya once shared. He thought it would be too fast and sudden to bring him back into the house, let him stay out he thought.
He turned to Anandhi and said, “Suriya seems to have moved on, but I think it’s too quick to host him here. Let the work begin first. If he seems harmless i mean to our agreement we made years back, then maybe we can invite him to stay.
If he had already married, I would have compelled him to treat this as his own home as long as he stays…”
Anandhi nodded silently. She was drowning in guilt for the same reason — it was his house. Their decision felt harsh, but she told herself it was necessary to secure the family.
They slept with their own heavy thoughts.
At 5 AM the next morning, the calling bell rang.
Anandhi heard it first. She woke up, heart pounding, and walked to the door before Rahul could stir.
She opened the door slowly.
Suriya stood there.
Anandhi’s breath caught. For a moment, the world seemed to stop.
Suriya gave a small, calm smile.
