Chapter 95: The First Touch
The morning after delivery, soft sunlight filtered into the private hospital room. Anandhi lay on the bed, still weak and exhausted, but her eyes were filled with overwhelming emotion as she looked at the tiny newborn girl sleeping beside her.
She gently stroked the baby’s soft cheek and whispered, almost like a promise, “You are mine… no matter what.”
Rahul stood beside the bed, proudly cradling the baby in his arms. He couldn’t stop staring at her little face. A possessive smile played on his lips as he said, “We need to name her AaRa. First two letters from both of our names — Anandhi and Rahul. It’s perfect.”
Anandhi was stunned. She knew they still didn’t know for sure who the biological father was, yet Rahul was already claiming the baby so proudly and associating himself completely. Her voice came out hesitant.
“Let’s keep a different name… maybe we can call her AaRa at home.”
Rahul’s smile faded slightly. “Why? What’s wrong with AaRa?”
Anandhi hesitated, then spoke softly, “We… we don’t know yet who the father is.”
Rahul’s face changed instantly. His tone turned firm, almost sharp. “The baby was in your belly for nine months. As long as she came from you, she is my daughter. I don’t care whose seed it is. I am her father. End of discussion.”
Anandhi looked at him for a long moment. Then she reached out and took his hand, holding it tightly. In her mind, she felt a wave of gratitude and calmness. This is why I chose you, she thought. His possessiveness, his strong sense of ownership — it gave her a strange sense of security. No matter what the truth was, Rahul would never waver.
Few hours later,
Outside the room, Rahul was standing near the door when Suriya suddenly appeared, unannounced. He had cancelled an important client meeting at the last minute and rushed to the hospital.
Rahul’s face hardened the moment he saw him. He stepped forward, trying to block the way politely but firmly.
“Anandhi is very tired, Suriya. We won’t be showing the baby right now. It will take time. You have your client meeting, right? Why are you here?”
Before Suriya could answer, Anandhi heard the voices outside. She quickly instructed the nurse who had come to give her medicine, “Open the door wide.” but dont use my name tell some other excuse.
The nurse obeyed and swung the door open, giving Suriya a clear glimpse of Anandhi lying on the bed with the newborn beside her.
Rahul turned sharply. “What are you doing?”
The nurse replied innocently, “I’m going to bring the room
clearer,” and walked away.
Suriya didn’t wait. He stepped inside the room.
Rahul immediately blocked his path again. “Suriya, stop. Wash your hands first. You’re coming directly from outside. You shouldn’t enter like this.”
Suriya looked at him calmly. “I already took a bath. I just came from home after checking on the kids. I know I have to be clean to hold the baby.”
Anandhi, still weak, gave Suriya a clear eye signal — Come inside.
Rahul had no choice but to step aside.
Suriya walked closer to the bed, his eyes fixed on the tiny baby. “Chosen name? It’s a girl, right? She looks so sweet… Should we name her Iniya? It means ‘sweet’ in Tamil. A nice, simple name.”
Rahul replied immediately, his voice tight, “We already chose AaRa.”
Suriya forced a smile. “That’s fantastic…” But deep down, a sharp ache pierced his heart. They had already chosen a name together — without involving him. They had decided everything as if he didn’t exist in the picture.
Anandhi noticed the pain in his eyes. She opened her mouth gently, “Iniya is a nice name too. One can be the official name, the other can be a pet name. But let’s put a hold on the name for now. We can decide after a few months. We need to check astrology and numerology. Calm down, both of you,” she said with a tired but warm smile.
With great effort, she sat up a little on the bed and carefully handed the baby to Suriya.
The moment the tiny girl was placed in his arms, Suriya’s eyes filled with tears. An instant, powerful fatherly bond hit him like a wave. He held her gently, looking at her face with pure love and longing.
Rahul stood a few steps away, watching the scene with burning jealousy. His fists clenched at his sides.
Later that evening, when Anandhi was resting, Rahul stepped out into the corridor and called Dr. Madhavan.
“We need to accelerate the franchise mess,” Rahul said coldly. “I want him buried in legal trouble before he gets too attached to the baby.”
Madhavan sounded surprised. “The first attempt failed. He figured out the flawed materials quickly.”
Rahul’s voice turned darker. “Then we need something stronger. I need another favour from you.”
“What?”
“I need to change the medical records… the baby’s records. Or mine. To match what we need.”
Madhavan was shocked. “What the hell is happening, Rahul? I know you have a personal story you don’t want to share, but changing baby records? How can we even do that? We never do such things.”
Rahul’s tone became sharp. “Don’t ask such questions. Just do it.”
Madhavan sighed heavily. “Wait… I’m on my way to see your baby. Let’s have a proper chat there.”
He cut the call.
