Chapter 51: The Resort Plan
The next day at college, Anandhi moved through her classes like a ghost. Her mind kept drifting back to the bathroom — the accidental slip of her pallu, the shocking sight of Suriya’s naked body, the way water had made everything transparent, the deep kiss under the shower. She felt a constant low hum of guilt mixed with an unwanted warmth that refused to leave her body.
At lunch time, as usual, Suriya picked her up in his car. They drove to their regular rooftop restaurant and sat at their usual table. Anandhi couldn’t face him. From morning onward she had barely looked at him, her eyes fixed on her plate or the view outside.
Suriya watched her for a long moment, then spoke gently.
“I won’t apologise for the accidents. It happened just like that.”
Anandhi finally looked at him, her eyes filled with a storm of emotions. Before she could say anything, a familiar voice cut through the air.
"Hello fake love birds"
Both of them turned, shocked.
Jeeva stood at their table, calm but with an intensity in his eyes. He pulled out a chair and sat down uninvited.
Suriya’s jaw tightened slightly. “How are you here?”
“I saw the photos you once showed me. I knew about this place. Thought you two would be here.”
Jeeva ignored him and looked straight at Anandhi.
“I saw how down you’ve been since yesterday. He forced something on you — I can sense it. Anandhi, just tell me honestly… did this man behave badly with you?”
Anandhi was torn. Should she say it was an accident (which would reveal their plan)? Or make up a different reason for her dullness? Her mind went blank. She couldn’t think of anything clever.
She immediately said, “Nothing… he is my would-be. It’s just a moment of disagreement.”
Jeeva looked at both of them, his expression softening a little.
“See? You two mistake me. Yes, it’s true — I wanted Anandhi to marry me. But if she loves you, I’m okay with that. It has to be genuine. It has to be sincere. It has to be consented, not forced. I got a different feel yesterday, so I volunteered to question you.”
He looked at Suriya.
Anandhi, sensing the rising tension, quickly added, “Whatever is between us is between us. You please stay away.”
But she couldn’t deny it — even though Jeeva looked harsh from the outside, he had thought about her emotions and preferences. A small part of her wanted to thank him, but she couldn’t.
Jeeva then asked her directly, “What makes you delay marriage?”
Anandhi blinked. “Why… what marriage?”
Jeeva said, “Yes. He has been sincere. He saved you many times secretly, without expecting anything back. He scored above me. I understand why you love him.”
He showed her videos on his phone — old footage of Suriya beating John and the others, the silent protection he had given her for years.
The old stories flashed inside Anandhi’s mind. She looked at both men — one who had been forceful but nothing had happened, and the other who had been supportive, understanding, gentle, and a big protector. Her eyes locked on Suriya in a quiet, thankful way.
Suriya cut the conversation short. “Thanks for speaking out, but we are fine and good. We hate interference from anyone. Let’s just have food.”
Suriya and Anandhi never gave a time for him to speak further, they cut short him , kept him at distance and avoided him.
That Night
The night came. Jeeva found a quiet moment and said to Anandhi, “I want to speak with you.”
Anandhi hesitated, then nodded. “Okay.”
They stood in the corridor. Jeeva spoke softly but firmly.
“Remarry. Marry Suriya quickly. I just have a few more days before I reach abroad. I wish to see you getting married.”
The continuous talks about her private life and better half irritated her.
Anandhi could not control herself anymore.
She shouted at him, “What do you think of me? Do you think I cannot stand on my own feet? Do I always need a man to share my life and bed? Because of you, I’m doing all these unwanted things. Shit!”
A slip from Anandhi, casually landed, she realised and shocked.
The cat was finally out.
Anandhi had indirectly admitted she had been doing all this just to avoid him.
She panicked, thinking he would corner her again and ask for a chance.
but to her surprise, Instead, Jeeva looked at her with surprisingly calm eyes and spoke, “I knew this already. You two are acting. I hate this even more, but I have less time. You won’t understand my worry and feeling.”
She saw him scared imagining what would be his next
He caught her hand gently.
“Suriya is best for you. He is gentle, calm. He loves you. He takes care of the kids.” so Say yes to him.
The sudden change in his tone and thoughts, really surprised her. She looked at him and asked, why are you speaking like this as you are really caring for me..
“Where was this Jeeva all these days?”
He said quietly, “I was always there. But I got into the heat. The heat of sexual thoughts on you blinded me. (He wanted to tell a believable reason)
Now as the days near, I see the larger picture.
Trust me — you need to move on with Suriya. Say yes to his proposal and marry him.
But you guys are faking it.
Anandhi said no no you misunderstood, we are truly lovers, we are marrying.
Stop this act.
I never saw any real love in your eyes or his eyes, even the kisses are fake. and that bathroom drama, ahve you ever said me what you gonna do after giving me coffee? you did that day, that's a deliberate attempt.
okay lets agree you and him are loving each other.
I need to see one true moment between you two. Once I see that, I won’t even ask for marriage between you two.
I will just catch the flight and leave this place for pursuing my career.”
Hope you understand, i don't want you to marry immediately if you fear of society or some other factors, at-least i need something strong like you are in safe hand like a real men or love for yourself. as i could not see it i urgue you to marry him.
If you marry him early thinsg will go smooth , marry him make it legal.
Anandhi listened silently. She said softly, see i love him truly and he too. but the thing is i cannot think of marriage. “I could not move away from thoughts of Rahul. I could not give his space to anyone…”
this is what pulls me down.
She genuinely answered it and looking out for a clarity from Jeeva, like their good old days.
Jeeva replied, “You need to give that space — for yourself. You need to give that space for Suriya and try. You always stuck here in this place. Same place same happenings, First we need to move from this place for a trip, use that place for having new moments with suriya.
I already thought about this.
He showed her the booked tickets and hotel reservation on his phone.
“I have booked a trip for us to a nearby hill station resort — this Friday to Sunday. Let’s go there and enjoy. I will take care of the kids. I will spend time with them. You spend time with Suriya. When I see you two as a real thing, I promise I will leave immediately in the next couple of days.” if i dont feel anything closer between you too exactly on the day of departure to abroad i will stay here, wont move.
Anandhi looked at him for a long moment. Then she said, “Okay. Let’s give it a try about marriage. You promise me you will leave the place for your own good and career if you see our love for real?okay?”
“Yes,” he said.
Anandhi decided she needed to speak with Suriya — to plan something good for him.
She was unaware of what Suriya would plan when he heard this.
