Introduction: The Fragile Promise

My name is Yashika. I want to tell you a story about my husband and his best friend. They have been friends for many, many years. To everyone else, they look like real brothers.

My husband is a very good man. He loves his friend Rahul very much. Whenever they sit together, they talk about their college days and college days. They always say that their friendship is the strongest thing in the world.

One evening, they were sitting on the sofa in our living room. They were drinking tea and laughing loudly.

"Brother, you are more than a friend to me," Rahul said, putting his hand on my husband's shoulder. "We are like one soul in two bodies."
My husband smiled and nodded. "Yes, Rahul. We follow the Bro Code. We will never, ever do anything to hurt each other. That is a promise."

I was standing in the kitchen, making more snacks for them. I heard everything. I thought to myself, “Is this friendship really that strong? Can a man really keep such a big promise?”

They talked about this "Bro Code" all the time. To them, it was like a holy law. They told me that a brother’s wife is like a sister. They said that trust is the most important thing between two men.

Rahul would often stay at our house for dinner. He was very helpful. He would bring gifts for us and help my husband with his work. They shared everything, their secrets, their money, and their time. My husband trusted Rahul more than anyone else in this world. He felt very safe when Rahul was around.

But I saw something different in Rahul's eyes sometimes. When my husband was not looking, Rahul would watch me. It was a very small look, but I noticed it. I started to wonder: What would happen if I gave him a chance to break this code? Would he choose his brother, or would he choose me?

I decided to find out. I wanted to see if this "eternal friendship" was real or just a story they told themselves.
