Chapter 82 – The Second Kiss quick but intense
The morning arrived — soft light filtering through the curtains, the sound of waves distant but constant.
As usual, Mirnaa was bathing. The shower ran steadily, steam curling under the bathroom door.
Vikram came down — steps heavy.
Bharath was already there — sitting at the dining table, sipping coffee, calm as if nothing had changed.
He looked up — eyes steady.
“Did you convey to Mirnaa?”
Vikram nodded — once, tight.
“After breakfast… make it like you introduce us for an open date.
Tell her not to worry. I just realized — next week arrives in two days. I mean… your Noida trip in two days.”
Vikram nodded again — yes.
Breakfast was quiet — idlis, chutney, silence. Mirnaa could not look at anyone.
She moved mechanically — packing lunch boxes for herself and Bharath, hands trembling slightly.
Vikram cleared his throat.
“Mirnaa… come in.”
They all sat — living room sofa, morning sun slanting across the floor.
Vikram finally broke the silence.
“Mirnaa… Bharath had asked for your hand in an open date. I gave my consent. And he knows you consented.”
Mirnaa’s eyes flicked up — then down again.
Vikram continued — voice steady but strained.
“We are adults… but we have responsibilities too. The 7 days Bharath wanted you in a relationship — let’s call it a date — get to know each other, have fun… but do set boundaries you want.
Bharath — Mirnaa’s safety is important for me. Hope you…”
Bharath leaned forward — voice calm, respectful.
“No need to worry on that. I will treasure her.”
Mirnaa still could not look at anyone — struggled, cheeks burning.
Vikram exhaled.
“That’s okay. I just want to put all before each other so tomorrow no one should say I don’t know,
I didn’t consent — including me.”
He looked at Bharath.
“Bharath — we consent you to take her to anywhere you want for vacation.”
He looked at Mirnaa — then Bharath — then back to her.
“Anyone has doubt or objections?”
Both watched Mirnaa’s face.
She was like — no. She felt shy. Overwhelmed.
A strange thrill mixed with guilt.
Vikram tried to crack a joke — light, forced.
“You wished to marry a cop… now you are dating a cop. Don’t you feel happy?”
Mirnaa managed a small, shy smile.
Vikram stood.
“It’s time, Bharath. You take her to hospital.”
They dispersed.
No way to hospital — she was thrilled, froze, surprised — all at the same time.
In the Thar — engine purring — she finally asked.
“What you and Vikram spoke last night? He immediately agreed to suggest me for a date… that too open.”
Bharath glanced at her — soft smile.
“We spoke a lot. But we understand each other. What we spoke is a surprise. I will open to you when we begin dating.”
He paused.
“But thanks.”
Mirnaa looked out the window — heart racing.
The two days were hectic.
Vikram needed to closely follow happenings around the empire — needed to keep it tight for the deal at Noida. He came late. Slept late. Mirnaa never had a chance to rest her head on his chest.
But a new thing — small, harmless good-night messages to Bharath — which came first from Bharath.
“Good night. Sleep well. Thinking of you.”
She replied — hesitant at first.
“Good night.”
Then — longer.
“You too. Thank you for today.”
The hospital drop and pick came easy.
Their hands holding while speaking became a new normal.
Exactly the day before the Noida trip — the evening when Bharath and Mirnaa came back from hospital.
That day was too late.
“When Vikram goes to Dubai… we will start dating officially.
I’m excited. And thanks for understanding.”
Mirnaa smiled
As their Thar racing in an empty road.
Bharath said let me tell you one secret
He turned to her — voice low.
His hands were on the wheel — yet he leaned in.
He kissed her cheek — soft, lingering.
Mirnaa was stunned.
She didn’t say anything — but she was little panicked.
First time without husband… and she is with someone not husband.
Bharath held her hand — gentle, assuring.
“I know what your mindset will be. Trust me — I won’t harm you. This 7 days… I’m just going to show how much I love you. I don’t want you to love me back — just acknowledge I too loved you. If that comes closer to Vikram’s… I will be happy.”
Without expecting her answer — he lip-locked.
Deep. Slow. Tongue brushing hers.
Mirnaa froze — then melted — just a little.
When he pulled back — her lips were swollen, breath short.
Bharath smiled — soft.
“Tomorrow… we begin.”
He drove inside.
Mirnaa sat — stunned, thrilled, guilty — heart racing.
The trap was open.
And she had just stepped in.
