Chapter 47 – Vikram Influences Mirnaa on How Normal an Affair Could Be
Mirnaa’s head was still on Vikram’s chest, her fingers tracing lazy circles on his skin. The room was quiet, lit only by the bedside lamp.
Vikram feared the topic may go back to monster/henchman. He quickly followed for another diversion.
He shifted slightly. “Just for these two things you were worried that you need me immediately?”
Mirnaa sighed. “No, I actually had a bigger one. I don’t know how to tell you this… It’s been eating at me all day.”
Vikram’s body tensed, but he kept his voice steady. “Tell me.”
Mirnaa lifted her head, looked up at him.
“I saw something in the hospital today. Which shocked me to the core.”
Vikram asked, “What happened that shocked you to that extent?”
Mirnaa: “You have seen my colleague, Priya right?”
Vikram: “Yes – what’s the issue with her that shocked you?”
Mirnaa: “I saw her in the cabin… She… she… she was kissing a man in the cabin. Not her husband.”
Vikram was shocked. He knew of the affair and it wasn’t her husband… So bad… But hours back I did the same. The reality hurt him. His own wife complained about what someone was doing and she had this shocking reaction. What if she realized I did the same with Malar…
He quickly avoided her eye sight and took his phone to see the time.
Mirnaa: “Vikram, the strange thing is a phone call came… It was the man’s wife. They acted like nothing happened.”
Vikram: “Oh, why do you involve in other personal stuffs?”
Mirnaa: “I didn’t, it happened before my eyes. But I got into a little fight and I decided to break friendship with her.”
Vikram was stunned. Priya's affair is her personal, but as she was in an affair, Mirnaa wanted to break her friendship with her. How will she react if she finds mine? Vikram worried.
Vikram asked, “Why do you want to break her friendship over her personal choices?”
Mirnaa: “Surprised, why shouldn't I? How can people do this? She is cheating and it feels so wrong… like she is not loyal anymore.”
The worst part is that she is justifying that her husband cheats too. she said.
Vikram could hear her heavy breath, she seemed highly uncomfortable.
Vikram’s stomach twisted — the irony burned. He had just come back from 7 days of exactly that. Cheating. Betrayal. But he couldn’t show it. Instead, he took a breath and stroked her hair.
