Chapter 46: Vikram’s Realization – He Needs Mirna More Than She Needs Him
Vikram’s hands were tight on the wheel.
The conversation with Vicky still rang in his ears — every word, every smirk, every quiet truth.
The past 7 days had given him more experience, lessons, and understanding than he ever asked for.
He knew Mirnaa had wanted him badly — to tell all her stories for 7 days, to bury her head in his chest and sob about everything that bothered her.
But now Vikram felt the opposite: it was him who needed Mirnaa badly.
To hug her. To vent his helplessness, worst part is he cannot say it openly, all he needed is a hug from her to make him recover.
Everything he had done — the revenge, the sex, the power — suddenly seemed meaningless after what he had realized.
Malar hadn’t needed a man because she was bored of Vicky. She feared Vicky would mistake her, judge her.
She needed Vikram for her exploration — no-judgment nonsense, just a fuck her way.
A safe space to release urges she had suppressed.
Vicky, on the other hand, had made him realize: love is the key.
No matter to what extent she goes, if the love is really inside them, she or he can come back to the place where it was meant only for them.
Vicky also shed light on the guilt factor that drove Malar back to him. Now the same guilt was driving Vikram back to Mirnaa.
Vikram had almost forgotten Mirnaa.
The emotional bond between him and Malar had been rock-solid.
He was even ready to stay when his work was completed — just for her.
The bond was dangerous and wrong on many levels.
But he was surprised how they turned to each other like partners at the end.
The thought kept hitting him:
he always believed someone (Vicky) had taken his woman. But actually she was rightfully Vicky’s.
And Vicky’s subtle ring of words — “your wife could do in future too” — echoed quietly.
His questions came:
What if Mirnaa too needs more in sex?
What if she wants someone else?
No — these are stupid thoughts, he told himself.
He drove the car slowly. Too many things running in his mind.
At 10 PM he finally reached the house.
Mirnaa opened the door.
The big house had only Mirnaa. How did I leave her all alone in this big house? he realized.
Mirnaa hugged him tightly. She had prepared dinner.
The sambar smell and idli’s hotness brought Vikram back to his feet — a simple acknowledgment of HOME.
He smiled.
Mirnaa asked, “Why are you smiling?”
Vikram said, “I’m home. Your idli and sambar announced it.”
Mirnaa hugged him from behind — arms around him — and kissed his cheek while he ate from the table, chair sitting.
Mirnaa kept blushing.
Bedtime came.
Vikram removed his shirt and wore shorts as usual. Mirnaa fell into her night gown. She finally came on the bed together after 7 days.
She finally landed her head on his chest.
Vikram said, “Come on, tell me what all bothered you?”
He hugged her tighter than before, he needs her warm, to free himself from guilt thoughts and a lot that burdening him.
Mirnaa smiled. “You finally realized I’m going to flood you with complaints.”
He hugged her warmly, kissed her forehead — his lips crushing on her skin. He himself felt odd. He himself felt he was impure.
He knew he had been here doing all that was cheating, yet he was hurting the one who had no idea about that.
Mirnaa continued. “This week, these 7 days, I don’t know why I felt like the world changed for me. Ever since you went out, I’m facing a lot of these easy things.”
Vikram laughed. “Not because I went out. Even if I was here, you would have faced them.”
Mirnaa: “That monster — he was the first one. I would never have complained if he was just a henchman.”
Vikram: “Then?”
Mirnaa: “I mean he saved someone, like a hero, but within a minute he showed his true face — a rowdy. How could people act saint before others or like a savior, and in hidden rooms he is a rowdy?”
Vikram observed her in shock. While he was guilty of what he did behind her back, the monster person echoed what he had done in his entire married life. Mirnaa didn’t know his dark works when he was with Sekaran’s gang.
Mirnaa looked at him, and she found him thinking for a long time. She asked, “What happened?”
Vikram didn’t know how to neutralize it.
He said, “You are judgmental, Mirnaa. I know your family is affected by henchmen, rowdies. But let me tell you — you never know him. When he saved someone, that means he is good basically. Maybe he had some reasons to beat him.”
“Are you sure the one who received the beating is a good person?”
Mirnaa blinked.
Vikram said, “No, right? You never know anything about the one who received and the one who gives. At least the one who gave the beating showed you his good side.”
Mirnaa said, “Maybe he does bad job for money. Still that’s wrong. He beat an innocent.”
Vikram said: How are you sure about the one receiveing is innocent, just because he got the beatings??
Vikram said, “If that person can show good quality and yet he acted that way… there will be reasons, situations. His hands might be tied. You should try to forgive them. Wish them to go in the right path. Just focus on the good things Mirna. ”
(Vikram in mind: pleading her to forgive that person — which will give him hope when she finds out about him. He urges her to look on good side)
Mirnaa, influenced by what Vikram said, continued: “But that person didn’t seem to be a good one. For the second time I saw he was beaten up.”
Vikram said, “Even I was beaten up years back. Will you call me the same?”
Mirnaa looked at him and said, “I don’t know why you support him so much without seeing.”
Vikram said, “I see myself in him.”
Mirnaa laughed. “What? You see yourself in him? You are gold. He is some third-rated rowdy.”
Vikram’s stomach crunched.
Mirnaa said, “Are you referring to how I saved him and you? You are parallel connecting.”
Vikram, to escape, said, “Yes.”
Vikram wanted to shift topic.
He continued: “We have spoken enough of it. Do you have anything else that bothered you?”
Mirnaa: “Yes…”
“There is one big shot. He is going to get admitted tomorrow. Thing is he has no issues. For some malpractice he tied up with a doc and is admitting here. They appointed me there.” “Why is society becoming so strange? False setup, false case! and they are involving me in!!”
Vikram: “Money, power and nothing else.”
Vikram feared the topic may go back to Monster/henchman. He quickly followed for another diversion.
Just for these two you were worried that you need me immediately?
But what he doesn’t know is the complaint she is going to bring him is going to change the dynamics forever for them.
Vikram’s hands were tight on the wheel.
