Chapter 84 – The Quiet Years & The Unspoken
Prem and Nitin decided — individually, silently — to bury the truth.
No conversation. No shared glance. Just a mutual, unspoken pact after what they witnessed in the hall.
The slaps. The recordings. The throw-out.
They saw their wives stand tall. That was enough.
One night — exactly the day Rohan sold his shares — Prem came home late. Nivi was in the kitchen, stirring tea.
He walked up behind her. Wrapped arms around her waist.
“Seems like Rohan exited your company… and mine.”
Nivi turned — acted surprised.
“What? How?”
Prem shrugged — casual.
“I don’t know. But that guy taught us a lesson in business.”
Nivi laughed — light.
“Yes… business.”
He caught her hand. Squeezed gently.
“From today, as your right hand left for unknown reasons… I’ll take you to office regularly. What say?”
Nivi smiled — soft.
“Yes, my husband.”
Prem looked at her — searching.
“Do you know why he left the business here?”
Nivi shrugged.
“It’s because he got better opportunity in Kerala. Couldn’t handle here.”
Prem smiled inside.
You seem protecting Vani very well.
He stayed silent.
Unaware of her DP. Unaware of any sort.
He initiated sex that night — gentle, familiar.
Nivi denied — soft.
“I need some time…”
Prem could not understand it.. it was too long they had a proper sex.. still he Kissed her forehead and said “Okay.”
But nivi didnt extend it.. she slowly warm back to Prem
Outings. Dinners. She took time for her bodyto get recovered.
4 Months later they had sex.. though she missed the intensity that she had with Aadhil
It was enough for her...
Nivi soon transferred her office — much bigger, new place. Fresh walls. New furniture. New air.
She wanted to forget everything.
More than Rohan — she could not forget Aadhil.
She sold the car — the one where they had sex in the backseat. Changed office — every corner remembered his intensity.
But the house… it kept reminding.
She changed color — white to beige. Changed cots. New sheets. New curtains.
Still — Aadhil never left her thoughts.
Business kept growing.
Vani turned into an individual businesswoman — pitched more clients. With Nivi, they grew bigger. Stronger.
One year later — Vani got pregnant.
Nivi took care of her — doctor visits, cravings, late-night talks.
One more year gone.
Vani delivered a baby boy.
Nivi and Vani struggled together seeing the newborn — tears, laughter, exhaustion.
Aara continued in hostel. Came on leave for the baby naming ceremony.
Prem and Nitin watched — no intention to dig truths out.
They were happy the family finally becoming family.
Prem looked at Nivi holding the baby — her face soft, peaceful.
Nitin looked at Vani breastfeeding — her eyes tired but glowing.
