Chapter 66 – The Road to Cochin & The Pool
Exactly 100 km after they left Chennai
The Mercedes hummed along the coastal highway — windows cracked, salty breeze mixing with the faint scent of leather seats and Nivi’s jasmine perfume.
Rohan had pulled over at a quiet roadside dhaba — tea break, stretch legs, breathe.
He returned to the car — slid into the back seat beside Nivi.
She immediately let her head fall onto his shoulder — heavy, trusting, like a weight finally allowed to drop.
Rohan wrapped one arm around her — firm, protective.
She exhaled — long, shaky — the first real breath in days.
Rohan spoke softly — lips near her hair.
“I know how you feel.”
Nivi — muffled against his shirt — “I feel… dirty. Guilty. Like I don’t deserve Aara.”
Rohan tightened his hold.
“The three days ahead are our fortress. No Nitin. No Prem. No pretending. We’ll enjoy, be happy, come back to Chennai fresh. Like a reset. Like we used to have in Bangalore.”
Nivi shifted — buried her face deeper into his chest.
She felt safe.
She felt wanted.
She felt guilty for feeling both.
Her eyes closed.
She slept in his lap the rest of the way — Rohan stroking her hair, Aadhil driving in silence up front.
Early 3 a.m. – Arrival
They reached the place — a luxurious standalone villa, 2 km from the main Cochin coast road, no other buildings in sight.
Private beach access. High walls. Total seclusion.
Whatever happened here — only the trio would know.
Aadhil killed the engine.
Nivi was still asleep — curled against Rohan, breathing slow.
Rohan signaled — Aadhil opened the back door, gently lifted her in his arms.
She stirred — half-conscious — but didn’t wake fully.
Aadhil carried her inside — bridal style — up the curved staircase to the master bedroom overlooking the sea.
He laid her on the king bed — pulled a light blanket over her.
Rohan followed — watched from the doorway.
Aadhil — quiet — “She’s exhausted.”
Rohan — “Let her sleep. Tomorrow we start slow.”
They left her — door half-open.
Early Sunshine – Roof Pool Area
Sunrise painted the sky pink and gold.
Nivi woke slowly — disoriented.
Soft sheets. Ocean sound. No Prem.
She sat up — realized she was still in yesterday’s clothes.
She walked barefoot to the balcony doors — pushed them open.
Rohan and Aadhil were already there — lounging on the rooftop infinity pool deck attached to the bedroom.
Both shirtless — only boxer briefs.
Rohan in black, Aadhil in navy.
They turned — smiled.
“Good morning,” Rohan said.
Aadhil — “Sleep well?”
Nivi — sleepy, shy — “Yes… thank you.”
Rohan gestured to a small table — two tiny fabric piles.
“Paste and sunbath clothes. Fresh up — wear them.”
Nivi looked — two bikinis. One red, one black.
She felt heat rise to her cheeks.
“I… I don’t know.”
Rohan — gentle — “It’s just us. No one else for miles.”
Aadhil — “No pressure. But the sun feels good.” He retired from the place.. giving rohan and nivi a privacy.
Nivi hesitation reduced now — she nodded.
She went back inside — quick shower, brushed teeth.
Came back wearing the black bikini — self-conscious, arms crossed over her chest.
Rohan smiled — approving.
“Beautiful.”
They rested under the sun — towels spread, quiet for a while.
Rohan — after some time — “Why were you hesitant before Aadhil earlier?”
Nivi — soft — “Nothing against him. I just… wish I had better time with you.”
Rohan — “He went through a lot too. I need to step out in a few minutes. Will you be okay like this with him?”
Nivi — “I’ll be friendly. Always.”
Rohan — “Mmm. Let’s get into the pool.”
He pulled her in — water cool, refreshing.
They hugged — bodies slick, weightless.
He kissed her — slow, deep, hands roaming her back.
She melted into it — tension easing.
He swam to the corner — grabbed his phone.
“I’ll call Aadhil here. He’s harmless. After all… you guys already kissed.”
Nivi — quiet — didn’t protest.
Rohan dialed — speaker.
Aadhil answered — “Coming.”
A minute later — Aadhil stepped onto the deck — navy briefs clinging.
Rohan — joking — “You were furious kissing her last time. See? She’s panicking.”
Nivi — playful slap on Rohan’s arm — “Stop.”
Rohan laughed — kissed her forehead.
“We’re all adults. It’s just a joke. Take care of her.”
He climbed out — towel around waist.
Waved — disappeared down the stairs.
Aadhil stretched — arms wide — looked at the sky.
Then walked to the pool edge — slid in smoothly.
He reached Nivi — put his arms around her loosely.
“Don’t worry Rohan. I’ll treat her like my own wife.”
He joked — light.
Nivi — nervous laugh — “He went. Can you take your hand away?”
Aadhil — soft — “Nivi… I don’t know why you feel bad about me.”
Nivi — “Nothing bad. I’m just… not in the mood.”
Aadhil — “But I am.”
He took her hand — guided it slowly inside his briefs.
She froze — but didn’t pull away.
He kissed her — sudden, deep.
Nivi didn’t stop.
Five minutes — tongues sliding, breaths hot.
He broke — eyes dark.
“I hate Vani. You know… I always had an eye on you. To safeguard you, I bedded her.”
Nivi — stunned — said nothing.
Aadhil — “I know you’re in some trouble lately. I’ll give you space. Just consider me when you want to.”
Nivi stayed quiet — but whispered.
“Thank you… for understanding.”
Aadhil — “If you’re understanding… let’s kiss good. Just 10 minutes. No hesitation from you.”
Nivi — didn’t speak.
He came nearer.
They kissed — 16 minutes straight.
Slow. Deep. Hot.
Hands exploring — his on her waist, hers on his chest.
She wasn’t sure why she did it.
But the kiss was fire.
When they broke — both breathing hard.
Aadhil — voice rough — “You taste like freedom.”
Nivi — touched her lips — dazed.
Amused.
Confused.
Alive.
The villa was silent around them.
Only waves.
And possibility.
