## Update 168 A: The Five-Month Bribe (Meena Chachi, Seema Chachi, and Avi)
*(The scene shifts back to the bedroom where Meena Chachi is speaking with Seema Chachi.)*
Meena Chachi entered the room where Seema Chachi lay resting. "Didi, wake up," Meena Chachi urged, gently shaking her shoulder. "I need to talk to you right now."
"What is it now, Meena?" Seema Chachi groaned, pulling the sheet higher over her head. "You've been bothering me for so long. Just let me sleep and recover."
"Didi, please," Meena Chachi leaned closer, her voice dropping urgently. "At least listen to me for one minute. I need to talk about something very important that just happened."
"Alright, fine," Seema Chachi sighed, resigned to listening. "What do you want to talk about that's so important it can't wait?"
"Suman Didi isn't listening to anything I say," Meena Chachi confessed, her frustration clear in her posture.
"What did Didi say this time?" Seema Chachi raised a weary eyebrow, looking at her.
"Suman Didi isn't ready to listen to anything about Avi being the boy," Meena Chachi admitted, shaking her head.
"I told you before, Meena," Seema Chachi said, shaking her head slowly. "This isn't going to be an easy task now. She's decided."
"I knew that too," Meena Chachi conceded, pacing the small space. "I'll figure out how to tell Suman Didi today or tomorrow. I'm not worried about that part. But what should I do about Avi? He passed his exams and is ready to demand his promise. You must show me the way to handle him."
"Your brain works better than mine in these matters, Meena," Seema Chachi insisted, settling back onto her pillow. "You think of something clever. Think of something that will make Avi willing to wait until Didi finally knows the truth."
"Okay," Meena Chachi murmured, rubbing her temples hard. "I'll devise a plan."
"Meena, you know we initially stopped having sex with Avi because Suman Didi didn't know his identity," Seema Chachi suddenly grabbed Meena Chachi's hand.
"Yes," Meena Chachi confirmed, meeting her eyes.
"But Didi has given us a completely different, new reason why we shouldn't have sex with Avi now," Seema Chachi stated solemnly, squeezing her fingers.
"Yes. Suman Didi said that she can't betray Avi's Chacha," Meena Chachi recalled, her eyes clouding with thought.
"I think what Didi said is absolutely right," Seema Chachi affirmed, nodding slightly. "We shouldn't commit a blatant betrayal to Avi's Chacha by continuing this."
"We shouldn't betray Avi's Chacha," Meena Chachi agreed, the weight of the moral dilemma settling on her shoulders. "I'll put a firm stop on Avi for a few months. Then one day, when the time is right, we'll tell Avi exactly why we can't have sex with him anymore."
"I think that's the wisest path forward," Seema Chachi concluded, nodding slowly.
"Alright then," Meena Chachi decided, standing up straight. "I'll go stop Avi for a few months. You rest now. I'll explain everything to him."
*(The scene shifts to Avi's perspective.)*
"Avi, come on, let's go straight to Pooja Bua’s house now," Meena Chachi entered my room, her expression firm but cheerful.
"Yes, let's go," I agreed, already grabbing my shirt from the bed. "But before we leave, I need to talk to you right now, Chachi."
"I know exactly what you're going to talk about," Meena Chachi waved her hand, cutting me off. "We'll discuss it on our way to Pooja Bua’s house."
"Okay," I conceded, slightly impatient, following her out.
*(It's good that we'll talk on our way to Pooja Bua’s house,)* Meena Chachi calculated inwardly. *(If Avi gets angry after listening to my refusal, his mood will get better after we visit Pooja Bua’s house and have some time to distract him.)*
We started walking toward Pooja Bua’s house, first heading toward the market area.
"Chachi, did you tell my elder aunt about my result and the promise?" I asked the second we were out of the house, looking at her quickly.
"Avi, you're going to have to wait a little longer," Meena Chachi slowed her pace, her gaze serious.
I stopped dead in my tracks, my hands clenching into fists at the repeated delay. "Why? Why do I have to wait *again*?"
"Didi isn't ready to listen to me about your identity," Meena Chachi gently took my arm and pulled me forward, urging me to keep walking.
"But why is she so resistant?" I demanded, feeling the heat rise in my neck with annoyance.
"Didi thinks that if she knows about you—that is, about the boy—she won't be able to stop herself from having sex with him," Meena Chachi explained carefully, keeping her voice low.
"This is excellent news for me then!" I grinned, my frustration vanishing instantly.
"Not for you, Avi, but for *that* boy," Meena Chachi quickly shook her head. "She thinks she has an addiction to him."
"But I *am* that boy, aren't I?" I challenged, pressing her for confirmation I already knew.
"Yes, you are," Meena Chachi sighed, looking stressed. "But how does Didi know it's you? If she finds out it's you, Didi might literally kill me for keeping the secret."
"Suman Chachi would actually do that?" I asked, startled by the harsh idea.
"She might. You know how much she loves you," Meena Chachi whispered, her voice sincere and worried. "Among the three of us, Suman Didi loves you more than her own life."
"I know that she loves me," I admitted, the power of her love softening my anger.
"And just think, Avi," Meena Chachi urged, playing the ultimate card with a serious expression. "If she finds out that you're the father of her child, she'll die while she's still alive from the shame and betrayal. And she won't let me live either."
I considered her words carefully; the image of my devastated Chachi hit me hard in the stomach. "Then let's do one thing," I proposed. "You don't tell Suman Chachi anything. It's enough that you and Seema Chachi know the truth."
"That means you want to have sex with just the two of us, then?" Meena Chachi asked, raising a hopeful eyebrow.
"Yes," I confirmed, a hopeful gleam in my eye.
"We simply cannot do this without Suman Didi knowing and agreeing," Meena Chachi shook her head firmly, stopping me again.
"But why can't we?" I insisted, planting my feet down hard.
"We live like sisters, Avi. We share everything," Meena Chachi explained, her voice pleading for my understanding. "We decided that we would go through this pregnancy and everything else together. Now, without Suman Didi in the loop, I can't even *think* of going ahead with this."
"That means you won't have sex with me either?" I accused, feeling betrayed again. "You're breaking your promise, Chachi!" My throat tightened with anger and frustration.
"I never said I wouldn't do it with you, Avi," Meena Chachi insisted, slowing her steps to match my furious ones.
"You're only confusing me with all these rules," I muttered, shaking my head and looking away.
"Until Didi finds out your identity, we won't do anything," Meena Chachi clarified, giving me a final answer. "When she finds out, then the promise is on."
"And when exactly will elder Aunt find out the truth?" I demanded, turning back to face her.
Meena Chachi thought for a moment, then looked at me with a calculating expression. "I've decided that I'll tell Didi when she has the baby. At that time, Didi will be happy and emotional, and she won't get too angry when I tell her the truth about you."
"That means I'll have to wait for another five long months," I calculated, the waiting period stretching out like an eternity in my mind.
"Yes, exactly five months," Meena Chachi confirmed, nodding once.
"What am I supposed to do until then to keep myself busy?" I asked, my voice sullen, wanting a compromise.
"Until then, you can ride your brand-new bike and take girls out on dates," Meena Chachi smiled, pulling me toward the market area.
"I'll get a bike *now*?" I asked, my eyes lighting up instantly at the bribe.
"Yes," Meena Chachi promised, her tone final and sealing the deal. "But only after you agree to listen to me and wait."
"Five months," I said, looking her in the eye, setting the deal firmly. "Not a day more than five months."
"Yes, only five months," Meena Chachi agreed immediately, letting out a small, relieved sigh.
We arrived at the market while concluding our negotiations.
"You go inside and get the sweets," Meena Chachi stopped by a small sweet shop. "I'll wait right here."
I went into the shop to get the required sweets.
*(It's good that Avi agreed to the deal so quickly,)* Meena Chachi thought, rubbing her hands together with relief, standing outside the shop. *(But Suman Didi was right about one thing: if we have sex with Avi again for no valid reason, it will be a betrayal to Avi's Chacha. Now I've successfully stopped Avi for five months, but what happens after that? I'll think about that problem then.)*
I came out with the sweets, and then Chachi and I walked onward to Pooja Bua's house.
