Adultery Life of Avi Singh
## Update 153 D: The Failed Proposition (Avi and Mona)

I waited for a moment, letting the weight of my story settle upon her. She remained utterly still.

"What happened, Mona?" I asked, my voice edged with impatience. "What are you thinking about so intensely?"

"What exactly did you say at the end of that story?" Mona asked, turning her head slowly to look at my profile.

"This is a divine prophecy; it happens only once," I replied, trying to sound mysterious. *She definitely heard what I said at the end, but why is she asking again? Oh, yes, people often ask the same question after hearing something truly shocking or unbelievable.*

"'Even today, in this orchard, those two are in front of each other, but the female monkey still doesn't know that the monkey who saved her from the tiger is sitting with her.' Isn't that what you said?" Mona recited the exact line back to me.

"If you knew the line, then why were you asking me to repeat it?" I asked, turning slightly to face her.

"I asked you a simple question; now answer it simply," Mona demanded, her voice firm.

"Yes, that is exactly what I said," I confirmed. "Didn't you like the story's ending?"

"You called me a female monkey," Mona accused, her eyes narrowing.

"When did I ever call you a female monkey, Mona?" I asked, feigning total innocence.

"Don't act so innocent, Avi," Mona said, shaking her head. "You clearly called me a female monkey."

"I did not call you a female monkey," I insisted.

"At the end, you clearly said that the monkey who saved the female monkey is right here in this orchard," Mona explained, pointing between us. "Only the two of us are here, so by implication, you called me a female monkey."

*Did Mona only understand that superficial part of the story?* I inwardly groaned. *I had a feeling that Mona wouldn't understand the analogy well. That's why I used suggestive details like 'marriage' and 'clothes' to make it clear. And I even told her that the monkey who saved her was sitting with her! Even then, Mona didn't immediately grasp what I was trying to reveal about the storehouse!* "Mona, you didn't understand the deeper meaning of the story at all," I sighed.

"That is absolutely not the answer to my question," Mona said, crossing her arms firmly over her chest. "First, answer my specific question about the insult."

"The two of us are the only people in this orchard, so it's obvious that I called you a 'female monkey' in the story, yes," I admitted, giving her the direct answer she wanted.

"Do I look like a female monkey to you?" Mona demanded.

"You don't look like a female monkey; you are the female monkey from the story," I corrected her, my tone sharpening.

"What did you say just now?" Mona asked, her eyes widening again. "I'm the female monkey? You were praising my beauty in the storehouse, and now you're calling me a female monkey?"

"That means you finally understood what I was trying to convey," I said, a slow smile returning to my face.

"I was very confused at first, but later I understood the meaning," Mona conceded, nodding. "And what you specifically said at the end made the whole story make sense to me."

"You remember the whole thing about the storehouse?" I asked, leaning in closer, feeling the tension rise.

"Yes," Mona said, her voice dropping. "How could I ever forget that? My future husband ran away and left me completely alone."

"Then why did you marry him, even though he ran away and abandoned you?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"Everyone in the village knew that I was going to marry him," Mona explained, lowering her eyes. "If I hadn't married him then, I would have never gotten married at all. And there was one other reason to marry him."

"Another reason?" I asked, urging her on. "What was that reason? I want to hear it right now."

"After that incident in the storehouse, I stopped going there completely," Mona said quietly. "Then we used to have sex at home instead. One day, my Mammi saw me with him and immediately rushed to get me married."

"When I found out about your sudden marriage, I also thought that something like that must have happened to force the issue," I admitted.

"Mona, what else do you remember from our encounter in the storehouse?" I asked, trying to steer the conversation back to our shared moment.

"I remember absolutely everything about that night," Mona confirmed.

"Then you must also remember exactly what you said to me right after we finished," I prompted her.

"What did I say?" Mona asked, playing innocent again.

"This is exactly what you said," I quoted her words slowly, intimately. "'I want to have sex with you again. I can't see your face. At least tell me your name.' 'No,' I said. 'Let it remain a secret. When I want to have sex with you again, I'll come to you myself.' 'Don't do that. I have become a slave to your lund.'"

"I said that?" Mona whispered, avoiding my gaze. "I must have said it, but it has no value now, Avi."

"That means you don't want to have sex with me anymore?" I asked, my voice demanding clarification.

"I did want to before, yes," she said, nodding once. "But I absolutely do not now."

"What did you just say?" I asked, gripping the ground with my fists. "Say that one more time, clearly."

"What I said in the storehouse was before my marriage," Mona said, her voice gaining strength and finality.

"And now, after your marriage?" I asked, trying to hold onto the past.

"And now I am a married woman," Mona stated. "Now I've made a decision to have sex only with my husband."

"You won't have sex with me at all?" I asked, the disappointment making my stomach clench.

"Not just with you," Mona said, looking me in the eye for the first time with genuine resolve. "I've stopped having sex with my brother-in-law, too."

"I brought you all the way out here to the secluded orchard with the clear intention of having sex with you, and now you are telling me you won't?" I asked, anger rising in my throat.

"After marriage, only my husband has the right over me and my body," Mona said, standing up and dusting her petticoat. "I can't even allow myself to think about anyone else besides my husband. You should immediately get the idea of having sex with me out of your head, Avi."

"I truly thought that you would always be ready to have sex with me," I said, my voice heavy with frustration. "That's why I brought you all the way out here today."

"If you had wanted to have sex before my marriage, I wouldn't have said no," Mona concluded, picking up her sari. "But now it simply cannot happen."

What I had planned, and what actually happened, were two completely opposite things. My entire body tensed up; my jaw clenched hard enough to hurt, and I felt a hot, frustrated flush rise up my neck. I had counted on her history and her lust, and she had countered me with her sudden, frustrating sense of marital duty. My lund, which had hardened minutes ago, felt completely shrunken and dull.
