## Update 150: The Reunion (Avi, Sweta Didi, Sital, and Rohan)

Rohan, stunned by the sight of Sital and the strange location, rushed forward and knelt by the bed where Sweta Didi lay pretending to be unconscious. He reached out and sat next to Sweta, his hand trembling as he didn't dare touch her yet.

"Sital, what happened to Sweta? Tell me everything!" Rohan asked, his voice raw with fear and filled with a thousand questions.

Sital played her part perfectly, her voice shaky and low. "Didi had a serious accident nearby," she replied, tears welling up on command.

"When? How? Where did the accident happen exactly?" Rohan asked, the questions pouring out of him in a desperate torrent. "And why in God's name did you bring Sweta here to this deserted house to see a Vaidji instead of taking her to a real hospital and a doctor?"

"The accident happened very close to here, so we quickly brought Didi to the nearest help we could find," Sital said, sticking to the flimsy story.

"What did the Vaidji say? How is Sweta's condition? Is she in danger?" Rohan demanded, grabbing Sital's arm.

Sital looked down, her lower lip trembling. "The Vaidji said..." Sital sobbed dramatically, "that if Didi doesn't regain consciousness in the next twenty-four hours..." and she dissolved into even harder, more agonizing crying.

Seeing Sital break down, the last shred of Rohan's composure vanished. He started crying openly, the tears streaming down his face. He gently took Sweta Didi's hand, clutched it fiercely, and sank to the dirt floor, sobbing uncontrollably.

*Visceral Reaction:* Watching Rohan break down, sacrificing his composure and dignity simply because he believed Sweta Didi was hurt, I felt a deep ache of respect spread through my chest. My throat went tight, and my eyes burned with unexpected moisture. I realized I was seeing true, selfless love for the first time—a love that only cared about the person, not the circumstances. I was stunned by the depth of his devotion.

My thoughts raced, analyzing his pure reaction: *I'm seeing this kind of love for the first time—a love that thinks only with the heart, not the mind or logic.* *If Sweta had an accident, there should be marks on her body, but there was nothing like that. I told Rohan that this was a Vaidji's house, so the Vaidji should be here treating her. Sital said if Sweta didn't regain consciousness in twenty-four hours, then... In such a critical condition, Sweta's parents and family should be here, but only Sital was present. No Vaidji would treat someone in this condition here; Sweta Didi should have been in a major hospital right now. Rohan didn't stop to think about any of these simple, obvious things. Rohan truly loves Sweta Didi. He only cares about Sweta Didi's life. He doesn't care about anything else. He just wants Sweta Didi. I wish Mala loved me like that. I wish I loved Mala like that.* Thinking about Rohan and Sweta Didi's bond, my mind drifted toward Mala.

Rohan, still clutching Didi's hand, cried out, his voice cracking with unbearable anguish. "Sweta, what happened to you? Say something, please! Look, it's me, Rohan! All this has happened because of me! It's all my fault for not telling you the truth that day! She was the one who kissed me, not the other way around! Just listen to me once! Just open your eyes once! Please, just once! I only love you! Only you! If anything happens to you, I promise I'll do something to myself, too!"

Sweta Didi couldn't control herself for another second after hearing Rohan's complete confession and promise of self-harm. She immediately sat bolt upright and threw herself onto Rohan, hugging him tightly and crying into his shoulder. While crying, she started saying "Sorry" over and over again to Rohan.

Rohan was completely shocked by Sweta Didi's sudden revival and her intense embrace. He didn't know what to do; he was utterly confused whether to be happy seeing Sweta Didi alive and well, or to keep crying seeing the fresh tears pouring from her eyes. I immediately gestured to Sital with my head to follow me outside. Sital and I quietly slipped out and started walking away across the fields, leaving them alone.

Now, whatever needed to be said or done—the full explanation, the apology, the future—was entirely up to Sweta Didi. My only job had been to arrange a final, desperate meeting between Sweta Didi and Rohan, and I had done that. Now it was up to Sweta Didi to handle the truth. Sweta Didi would have to explain to Rohan that the accident was simply a dangerous, necessary play.

Sital and I walked among the tall crops in the fields, making small talk to pass the time. After about thirty minutes, Sital and I walked back to the house. When we came inside, we found Rohan and Sweta Didi deeply kissing, lost in each other. It was clear: Sweta Didi and Rohan were back together.

I don't know the exact words they exchanged; I should have listened to them. Instead of walking aimlessly in the fields, I should have listened to the whole conversation from the window. But let it go. One should look at the positive final result, not the messy details of how it happened. The result is positive, so the other things—the lies, the pain, the fuck —don't matter anymore.
