Kavya’s fingers traced a small circle over his chest, testing the strength of the bond between them in that small, soft touch. She pulled away slightly, her lips curling into a soft, knowing smile.
“That was… nice, but please don't start again...” she murmured against his lips, her voice a little breathless. “But we really should get up now... before the day runs away.”
He groaned, his hand still resting on the small of her back. “Five more minutes, please?” His tone was low, almost boyish, the vulnerability in it making her smile.
“Five minutes,” she agreed, but only if she could curl into his chest again. As she did, she pressed a light kiss to his neck, a soft, lingering peck that made him shiver slightly.
“I could stay here forever, you know,” she said, her voice muffled by the proximity of his skin.
“And do what?” he asked, raising an eyebrow, his fingers tracing idle circles along her back, feeling the soft curve of her spine beneath his fingertips.
She pulled back slightly, her eyes meeting his with that mischievous glint he had come to adore. “I don’t know… talk, tease, make you laugh, maybe even… kiss you some more?”
He chuckled, his heart warming at the sight of her playful expression. “I’d never get anything done if I stayed here with you.”
Kavya winked, brushing her fingers lightly over his chest. “Who said anything about getting things done? Maybe we’re supposed to just be for a while.” She smiled softly, her hand tracing the line of his jaw again. “Isn’t that the point of all this?”
He sighed contentedly, closing his eyes for a moment as he let her words wash over him. “I think you might be right,” he whispered, pulling her even closer, his hand resting on her shoulder, fingers lightly caressing the soft skin beneath.
She nestled into his chest again, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, the warmth of his body grounding her. “Maybe we should just forget about time, at least for now,” she murmured, eyes fluttering closed.
“Maybe,” he whispered back, his lips brushing against her hair.
The sunlight crept gently through the small gaps in the wall, touching their faces as they lay there, two souls lost in a moment that neither wanted to end, still wrapped in each other’s warmth and the quiet happiness of simply being close.
“You know,” she said softly, after a pause, “you’re surprisingly good at this. Just… being here with me.”
He smiled, the softness of the moment making him feel both vulnerable and grateful. “I’ve had a lot of practice,” he replied, his hand resting on her back. “But you… you make it easy.”
Her eyes fluttered open at the compliment, and she met his gaze with a soft smile. “I think I like that. And, just so you know, you’re not getting away from me anytime soon.”
“I’m not planning on it, Kavya.” His voice was quiet, but there was a warmth to it, a certainty that neither of them had felt until now.
With one last, playful sigh, Kavya closed her eyes again, feeling the peace of the moment settle over her. “Then I guess we’re stuck together, huh?”
“Guess so,” he replied with a soft chuckle, pressing his lips to the top of her head. He didn’t need to say anything more; they both understood the truth in the silence between them.
The world outside didn’t matter. Not today. For now, all that existed was this moment, their moment, shared in the quiet warmth of the dawn.
