Kavya glanced at him with that same knowing smile. “Maybe I should make sure you’re not too distracted,” she said, voice low and teasing. “I could always help you pick fruits… or maybe guard you from tripping again.” Her fingers brushed lightly over his hand as she pulled away, the touch lingering just long enough to make him feel it.
 
His smile softened as he watched her walk a few steps ahead.
 
She seemed to have that effect on him, no matter how playful she got, there was something in the way she moved, in the way she looked at him, that made everything feel different. “I’m not complaining,” he thought, feeling his chest tighten a little with that familiar warmth.
