Every time his glance inadvertently lingered, she caught him, pretending to glare but smirking faintly when he realized she noticed.
 
“You’re impossible,” she said finally, nudging him lightly with her elbow as she walked past him with her basket. “You’re impossible, there are lots of fruits around and yet your eyes are keep looking at these two fruits, what’s up doctor?”
 
“Those two are special, and are… too distracting,” he replied softly, catching himself staring once more despite himself. “I don’t know how she does this to me… and I don’t want to stop feeling it.”
 
For a heartbeat, they stood close, sunlight filtering through the trees, wind stirring gently between them. Her eyes glimmered with mischief and quiet confidence.
 
When she leaned a little nearer, the faint scent of jasmine reached him. “In fact,” she whispered, her voice lilting, “I kind of like that you noticed these fruits. Do you like them?”
 
Naveen’s smile softened, the kind that begins in the eyes before reaching the lips. “You’re going to make a grown man blush,” he murmured, half amused, half moved. “But I don’t want to stop. Not ever.”
 
She laughed lightly, the sound like a ripple through the stillness, and turned back to her basket.
 
But when their hands brushed over a fallen fruit, neither pulled away immediately. Instead, they lingered, the small touch sending an electric awareness through both of them. “It’s ridiculous how even this little contact feels… significant,” Kavya thought, her heart fluttering.
 
They worked side by side in easy silence, the rhythm of their movements falling into a quiet harmony. Now and then their hands brushed, once over a vine, once when they reached for the same fruit.
 
Each contact was a playful spark, a gentle reminder of how close they had grown. Laughter mingled with the sunlight, creating a warmth that neither wanted to end.
 
At one point, Naveen pretended to stumble while lifting a heavier basket, nearly spilling the fruits. “Oh no! Quick, save the harvest!” Kavya exclaimed, darting toward him, her voice high with mock panic.
 
As she rushed to help, she tripped slightly over a rock, her hand reaching for the basket just as he steadied it. They collided softly, the fruits tumbling into a gentle heap, and laughter tumbled out of both of them.
 
Their bodies pressed together in the midst of the scramble, her laugh warm and light, his deep and rich.
 
For a fleeting moment, they stayed like that, grinning, fingers brushing, hearts beating a little faster. “I don’t care if we’re clumsy, just stay like this,” Naveen thought, his arms instinctively wrapping a bit tighter around her to make sure she didn’t lose her balance.
 
Kavya tilted her head back with a teasing grin. “You really need to stop dropping things, doctor,” she said playfully, still catching her breath. “I’m starting to think you’re doing it on purpose to get closer.”
 
Naveen chuckled, shaking his head. “No, no, it’s just a matter of poor timing,” he said, his voice light but with a warmth that hinted at the deeper meaning he didn't say aloud.
