“How can I be angry with him for showing me such care?” Priya asked herself quietly, the words almost a surrender. “How can I hold his mistakes against him when he’s trying so hard to make things right?”
Priya let out a breath, the weight in her chest heavy with confusion and guilt. The warmth she had felt in his touch today wasn’t something she was ready to discard. The sincerity in his gestures, those subtle, almost imperceptible ways he had shown his affection, had meant something. They weren’t just apologies; they were acts of love.
“He’s not perfect, but he loves me. He’s trying. He wants to fix things. And isn’t that worth something?”
She turned toward Amit again, his steady breathing a stark contrast to the storm in her own heart. He was a man who had given her everything, his heart, his love, his unwavering affection. But now, with Ravi’s presence in her life again, she couldn’t ignore the growing distance between her feelings and her marriage.
“Is it wrong?” she asked herself, her voice barely a whisper in the quiet room. “Am I betraying him by caring for Ravi like this? Shouldn’t I be more angry? More resolute?”
But no matter how hard she tried to push it away, the thought kept lingering, the undeniable pull toward Ravi.
“I’m not doing anything wrong,” Priya reassured herself softly. “I will talk to him. I’ll treat him with kindness, just like I used to. And maybe... maybe things can heal.”
The realization settled over her slowly, like a soft blanket enveloping her in a quiet sense of peace. There was hope in her heart again. A small, quiet hope that tomorrow, she could begin to heal, not just her relationship with Ravi, but with herself as well. It was the first step.
“Maybe I’ll forgive him. Not all at once, but in pieces. Slowly. One step at a time.”
And that thought brought her a measure of calm.
Priya Didi lay there, her body still tingling from the small moments of intimacy she had shared with Ravi earlier. It had been too much to let go of. It wasn’t just the touch. It was the connection, the genuine care, that she wasn’t ready to throw away.
As she lay beside Amit, her thoughts a tangle of emotions, she whispered softly to herself, “Tomorrow will be different. We’ll talk. We’ll move forward. Together.”
Her eyes fluttered shut, a faint smile curling on her lips. Maybe things wouldn’t go back to what they once were. Maybe, just maybe, they could be better.
And for that possibility, she was willing to try.
